The location is great, right in the middle of Vail Village. Ate at Pepi's Restaurant for dinner - the service and food were very good. Continental Breakfast was nice. Rooms were nicely appointed.

That wonderful center of Vail Village at nighttime is also a downside. Our room faced the street and lots of partying and disco noise. As the room didn't have air conditioning, we tried opening windows but had to close them to keep noise down. I don't hear well and it was quite loud from the midnight to around 2 a.m. You don't want to miss this hotel's old world charm - so request a non street side room.

The value for the price and location of Pepi's is rare in Vail, and basically unheard of in the Village. We were less than 5 minutes' walk to Gondi 1, with all of our gear and ski boots on, for less than we'd have paid to stay outside the village just to bus in every day. But- be aware you WILL hear the trash truck demolishing dumpsters on Monday and Thursday mornings, bright and early (worth it to be so close to everything tho). The included breakfast was so good and had everything you need to get you through the morning to lunch and saved us time and money not having to buy or cook breakfast every morning. We will definitely be back!

Our bed happened to be very uncomfortable - an old spring mattress that was bouncy and stiff. We loved having the balcony because it gets HOT in the room, and the thermostat didn't seem to work. This wasn't a huge deal, but the cable was DirecTV, so the image was very muddled and none of the channels actually matched what their printed listing said. There were also several channels that had like 5 iterations in a row - e.g. ABC was channels 34, 35, 36, 37 and 38 and they all showed the same thing at the same time. This is more of a DirecTV complaint than of Gasthof's, but I thought it worth mentioning. Again, for what we got - we happily overlooked all of this and would definitely stay here again!

Great European style breakfast that was ready on time. Hotel staff clearly keeping the hotel, bar and restaurant clean. Prompt housekeeping service for the room. Friendly, helpful staff.

Less than optimal parking situation. Restaurant and bar had issues with supplies. Down comforters as the only bedding choice is challenging. Even sleeping with the windows open, the bed was too warm. Fans in the room helped but are noisy to have on all night. Water for showers was not hot; there is a lot of wasted water while waiting for the shower to heat up.

Our 3rd stay. One of the founding hotels in Vail, if not the first. Family-operated and in the very heart of Vail. I consider it ground zero with everything branching from there. It is old European elegance - it's age shows, but decor is unique, very clean, feel like you are checking into an austrian/german hotel. In fact, a guest from Munich said he felt he was at home, Pepi's bar and patio rocks at night, excellent food - the apple struedel is best in Vail. Staff is wonderful - live music on weekends - All the amenities - ski shop, bike rentals - a photographic landmark. Rates are very reasonable - a wonderful grand lady with unmatched Vail history. You can feel the spirit of the Gramshammer family when you walk inside. No chain hotel experience.

Don't go in thinking 2023 flash and bling - this is possibly the oldest hotel in Vail and parts of it show, but it is wonderfully decorated in a rich bavarian style that says "family" pride lives here. Pepi, the founder, and his wife, Sheika, are Vail legends and celebrities by the score have enjoyed their hospitality. There are some stairs to content with, but pretty much elevator access to all - rooms over the bar/patio can be noisy at night but cuts off in time for a good night's sleep. Breakfast may not be everyone's cup of tea - don't look for waffles, sausage, hash brown or eggs - this is a european-style breakfast with cold cuts, pastry, fruit, cereals, juices - we liked it but some folks wanted the omelet experience and ate elsewhere.

The location was perfect, with a 3-minute walk to the Gondola One (Main gondola). The rooms were great, clean, and comfortable. The ski shop below has 40% off if you are renting for more than 3 days and staying at the hotel at the same time, but nobody told us that, and we heard that from someone else by chance and rented from them if we did not we would not have known so I would have preferred they have told us at the check-in. Overall, it was good experience and the perfect location for the price.

Cold breakfast was mediocre but filling. I would rather have a hot breakfast with an omelet/hot eggs and some bacon for a cold ski day. Coffee was disgusting and needed to be replaced, but it was still drinkable with lots of milk. The Spa was above mediocre, with a hot jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. We, as a family, did not like the way you had to pass through the lobby to go to a room after the Spa with our robes and stuff. I wish they had another way of connecting the Spa and rooms. Overall, it was good experience and the perfect location for the price.

Great location and for central Vail Village, the price was very reasonable. Continental breakfast was very good. Really no complaints about the hotel itself and we would consider staying there again.

The biggest complaint that we had was the noise coming from the outside (not the hotel's fault and they actually provide ear plugs in the room). The drunks yelling seemed to die down as the night wore on, but at 5 am the trash truck came (outside our room) and they were fairly loud. Without AC, you really have no option but to sleep with the windows open, so the noise is something to consider if you are a light sleeper.

Breakfast is fine: bagels, toast, butter, jam, cold cuts, yogurt, sweet rolls, lots of fruit, juice, and really good coffee; self-service, but staff (1-2 people) present for busing dishes, answering questions, getting more food, etc . Location is dynamite, couldn't be better: charming buildings all around, easy 20-min. walk to the Ford Park (where the amphitheater is located), scenic bridges over the Gore Creek, great natural vistas, especially on trails nearby. The Gramshammer does have elevators; I used one daily!

No A/C. I had trouble sleeping because of the heat in the room, despite the overhead fan and the portable plug-in fan. Nice, cool breeze from the balcony, but since I was traveling alone, I didn't feel comfortable sleeping with just the screen door between me and the world outside.

Location was excellent right in the Vail Village.

Parking was very confusing. I didn't realize i couldn't drive directly to the Hotel parking. My Waze kept saying I reached my destination but couldn't drive into the village. I ended up calling the place and I was literally 100 yds from the place but the street signs said Do Not enter. There was a parking garage just a adjacent to the Vail village and Hotel which is where we parked and literally a few minute walk. Think communicating the parking upfront would make getting to the place much more simply.

This hotel is one of the originals in Vail, and in a premier location. We loved rolling out of bed and being steps away from Gondola One The rooms have comfortable beds, and the amenities modern travelers expect. Heated bathroom floor and tub were appreciated. The property has been well maintained, and is very clean. At the same time, it is tired and would benefit from a renovation. Replacing dated tiles, stained grout that no cleaning can fix, decor, and furnishings would really propel this hotel to a 4 star hotel. I also would have appreciated a more diverse breakfast. It was quite austere with folger's coffee, and yogurt with artificial sweeteners, a tray of turkey and ham, a tray of cheese, pastries/bagels,and boxes of cereal. There was no gluten-free bread option. The breakfast room is quite small and cramped with extra chairs in the room stacked in a corner. Visually it would have been nice to have placed them in another room I would have been willing to pay more for a nice sustaining breakfast. Overall, it was a lovely stay in a prime location with good value.

The central location and cozy ambiance.

It was extremely hot in Vail and the hotel rooms lack Airconditioning. The Breakfast was subpar. For this style of hotel, we were disappointed what was available and the buffet closed to early in the morning. For some vacationers, getting up later would require to skip breakfast because the breakfast buffet was closed and the staff was not friendly!
