My wife and I love the place. It's like staying in a Lord of Rings setting, surrounded by giant trees and lush plants. Close to Volcano National Park, you can make a trip to the park early in the morning or in the evening without worrying about the time you have to spend on the road. The cottage is small but cozy, with working fireplace and bed warmers. The room has a special design with interesting details. Two pieces of wooden carvings are nicely decorated in the room. The bedroom has a small dome, and a glass roof above the bed, and we enjoyed gazing through it at the sky and clouds, telling ourselves we can relax and there is no need to hurry to the next destination. Staff are very friendly, esp. Kalei, who gave us good advice for exploring the nearby spots. They provide freshly grounded coffee everyday and that's also adding a great touch to their hospitality. Breakfast is also great, though we had it as a light dinner sometimes.

The back of our cottage is not decorated with the wooden panels that other cottages have. It'd be nice to have the decoration there as well, as we enjoyed drinking tea and coffee in that small backyard.

Volcano Village Estates is the perfect place to stay while visiting the Volcano National Park. If it was any closer, it would be inside the park. The new owners make sure every comfort is offered. She was born on the islands and a great resource for past history and current advice on where to eat. A home prepared breakfast is delivered to your room. The original owner was an architect, and designed a magical village of apartments, duplexes and bungalows. His eclectic style is a cross between ole English and Hawaiian. Think Harry Potter moves to the Big Island. Our standard room came with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. A selection of coffee, tea and snacks are complementary. The siding in our room was reclaimed wood from a boardwalk in the park.

Incredibly well placed, very nice accommodation. The breakfasts were pleasant, fresh fruit every day, and a microwavable hot breakfast, which sounds a bit "iffy" but were in fact very nice. The proximity to the Volcanoes national park is amazing, we did many hikes, and shorter walks, and went to see the lava at night.

The only reason I marked down the equipment, is that the cottages are advertised as having a "kitchenette", they do not. There is a microwave. We arrived thinking we could do a little occasional food preparation, but reheating in the microwave is all that is possible.

The setting is beautiful and the room, super cozy. We came off-season so we felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Our wonderful hostess gave us the recommendation of walking Devastation Trail at night (instead of the day) which we would not have known and totally missed out had she not told us. We read ahead of our trip that restaurants near by closed early so we came prepared with our own snacks and beverages and had a lovely meal on the covered lanai while the rain gently came down around us.

The bathroom got a little cold so it definitely woke you up if you had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The room lacked a little table to work/eat from so we grabbed the one in the bathroom.

Everything was wonderful. A different breakfast every morning paired with a plate of freshly sliced tropical fruit with a lie flower. Bed was comfortable and pillows very cozy. Sliding glass door with a screen so I could leave it open to fresh air and the sounds of frogs and rain. The place is like a slice of rainforest paradise. The room was decorated so lovely and I felt like I was at home. Peace and serenity was established here. The 1 mile from the entrance of the volcano park is so awesome. There's a little village nearby with the best Thai food around in my opinion (have the Thai Thai special curry). The staff at the bungalow is so caring and very attentive with just a simple text/call. I don't recall reading about heated bathroom floors and heated towel rack in the decription, but that was a wonderful bonus. The bathrobes were very cozy. The room I stayed in looked exactly like the pics online. This was my first time in a b&b and I doubt anything will compare to the level of satisfaction I had here. Thank you!

Neighbors will be a bit loud not knowing how much their voices carry through the walls. You can hear everyone stomping around outside and next door. The shower head doesn't move much so if you're shorter than 5'9, be sure to bring a shower cap. They provide shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Bring what you need, but there is a Walmart, Target, Ross, and several other stores close to Hilo Airport (30 min). There isn't a TV which I definitely didn't mind, but just FYI.

Really beautiful and unique (in the best sense!) accommodation right by VNP. The bungalows are modern, but sympathetically designed for the surroundings, with wonderful modern fittings. Such a pleasure to be away from a cookie-cutter chain hotel room. The grounds of the property are so beautiful, and the staff are absolutely fabulous.

Absolutely nothing could have been better. Well, I suppose I wish I could have stayed for longer....!!!

For us this was the perfect place to stay during our visit to the Volcanoes National Park, it's just a 3 minutes drive to the park entry. Our cottage was so cozy and we loved to use the jacuzzi in the garden. The homemade breakfast was delicious!

We really enjoyed the breakfast in-room. The food was delicious.The room was also very pretty, and we really enjoyed the vibe there.

Although the breakfast was great, it would have been great if we were given notice/choice for the breakfast beforehand so that we can let them know about our preference etc.

Upon arriving and being greeted by Pua, the manager, I new my daughter and I had found a gem of a location to stay for this part of our trip to Hawaii. Then we saw the cottage we were staying in. Lovely. Charming. Way more then I had anticipated. The morning breakfast was wonderful as was the calm peaceful serenity to enjoy it. Evenings were filled with the orchestra of the natural sounds of wildlife waking up as we fell to sleep. Pua and her staff were so warm and welcoming; making sure we were comfortable and happy. Volcano Village Estates is a hidden treasure 💙

All the little details to make sure guests were comfortable like the heated floors, towel bars, portable heater, and the hot tub. The included breakfast was also good and a nice added touch

At some point in the morning, the outlets near the bed stopped working and didn't provide power. Thankfully we were checking out and didn't necessarily need them, but thought that could've been an issue if we we did.
