We came to town for a college visit to UNI and it only took us 10 minutes to get to campus. We also LOVED the continental breakfast - complete with biscuits and gravy. We stayed at another AmericInn in Ames, IA recently and, for the price we've paid, it's our new favorite place to stay!

Our room was freezing when we arrived, but we turned the thermostat down. While we explored and ate supper downtown, it was much better upon our return. Granted, we were there on a day when the heat index was near 100.

I'm very picking about cleanliness when it comes to hotels and this one was pretty clean! I stayed 3 separate nights in 3 separate rooms and all were clean minus two hairs on one blanket one night. The bathrooms and towels were all clean. I also never heard another person while in the rooms which was great because I'm a very light sleeper and wake to any sound. There were dogs and cats at the hotel but I would not have known except for seeing them leaving the hotel. The beds and pillows were the average comfort for any hotel. There's a microwave and mini fridge (no freezer) in the rooms. I appreciate how the heater/AC has a constant fan option which helps if you need a constant noise while sleeping.

The breakfast was the average hotel breakfast, gross eggs, mini muffins, bagels, toast, waffles, cereal, a few other items. The carpet seemed stained/old and could be removed especially with pets staying in the hotel.

The people at the front desk were exceptionally engaging. I appreciated the breakfast very much. I also really liked that coffee and ice water were available immediately in the lobby when I checked in and throughout my stay.

I would have liked to have gotten a piece of fruit in the lobby or at breakfast, although I understand fruit is expensive. Bananas, however, are pretty cheap and not messy.

I didn't have breakfast there. The location is great. Honestly the biggest thing for me was having the hot tub in the king suite. I planned a romantic weekend with my sweetheart and we both loved that.

The staff was incredibly friendly and made suggestions for places to go and things to visit.

It was not as close to our activities. However, it was not much of an inconvenience. It was a bit difficult finding the entrance.

The breakfast was awesome. We had a number of choices and everything we chose were great. The manager was there when we checked in and there again when we checked out. She was very personable. Enjoyed talking with her.

One lamp by the bed was broken. It did not work. The lamp not working was not a big deal. I shared this information with the manager at check out and she thanked me and said she would switch it out with another lamp.

The hot tube/fireplace suite was extra large and very nice. Great for the rate we paid! Beds were comfortable. I had no problem with this stay and would definitely stay here again.

Had to wait longer than told for room to be ready, but was not big deal and did not affect our overall stay.
