The location of the hotel was great. Walking distance to dining, shopping, museums, and campus. The attached coffee shop and bar were convenient. The hotel had that kitchty vibe going for it. Made it fun and unique to be in.

We requested a roll-away bed for two of the nights we were there for our 6-night stay - that being the first and last nights. We had to visit the front desk twice to get housekeeping to bring the bed up. Both times, the employee did not seem thrilled to be doing this task and we had to ask both times for bedding for the roll-away. This request was not well received by the employee either time.

The hotel itself was certainly unique and staff was very friendly and accommodating. They provided complimentary bike rentals to guests, which really set this place above and beyond for me and my daughter. They had ball rooms on the basement floor and an attached bar and Cafe. The location was phenomenal, with plenty to do in walking distance. We were really wowed by our stay here.

I struggle to think of anything that would be considered a negative. At first I was confused by the parking arrangements, but the lady at the front desk was helpful in streamlining that process into something easy as well. Incredible hotel.

I loved how quirky and unique this hotel was! The front desk clerk was so nice when we arrived at 12:30am. The room was clean and the beds were amazingly comfortable. At first glance, you might think they hadn't updated in years. But if you look closer, the tile is new and it is intentionally trying for a retro 70s vibes. I personally loved it. The lobby is attached to an adorable coffee shop that has pencils ✏️ lining the walls for decor. Plus the location is so close to everything. It was a great experience!

There were supposed to be a couple bottles of water in our room but ours were missing.

This hotel was so adorable! Iowa City is a college town, and this hotel fits in perfectly with that image. The staff was friendly, everything was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is right in the middle of town, so we didn't need to drive anywhere. There are lots of places to eat, and there are multiple museums to see if that interests you, all within walking distance from this hotel. Even just walking around the town and visiting the different shops and exploring is fun too! They even decorated the town for Easter, which was a nice touch. The town is lively, but not congested and busy like other cities such as Chicago or New Orleans. It was a nice getaway weekend for my husband and me.

The hotel was very nice and clean. Staff was friendly.

There is no breakfast (no big deal for us), vending machines or ice (they sent my wife next door for ice). They have a coffee shop and a restraint somewhere near by. They should have some pamphlets so you know all this. Plus our AC did not work. They tried to fix it (10pm) but could not. Brought us a fan. Good thing it was a cool night.

The hotel location is perfect, and the hotel room was outright beautifully theme designed. The reception area is large and furnished in a charming 50s home style with very comfortable armchairs. I forgot a jacket in my hotel room and staff posted it for free to an international address. A big parking garage is conveniently located just a few steps from the hotel and is paid through the hotel reception. The entire city is within walking distance.

The breakfast facility is not part of the hotel and offered only very basic services. At certain times of the day the reception seemed unattended. Wifi quality in my room was rather limited and intermittent.

Very central location to the pedestrian mall and campus area, restaurants abound nearby. Rooms are all the same, but adequate. Bathrooms are definitely not lavishly big but are clean. Always wish Graduates had better bathroom fans, they just never seem adequate for multiple people to take showers and clear the steam. Parking lot is conveniently nearby. Had a nice cocktail at the attached bar. Seemed to need more clear instructions for me regarding the ability to get food from the hotel restaurant.

Someone had puked on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. I reported to front desk staff. It was still there through the entire weekend. I get it--college campus and all, but still.

The decor was nice in the lobby and the room. Everything was clean and tidy. The location was spectacular for getting involved with the downtown activity.

The parking ramp system was very confusing and the afternoon desk clerk could not effectively communicate how it works. The clerk working the next morning had a better grasp of explaining a goofy system. Didn't care for the bright lights in the bathroom with no option for dimmer lighting in the middle of the night. The bar closes at 11 PM thus not allowing us to get a late night food snack after attending a concert event at the Englert. Had to go after food.

Wonderful stay at the Graduate Hotel. It was the first time staying in one of the Graduate Hotels and we appreciated the whimsical decor and university themes. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious for two. I wish more hotels would take to a more playful decor as well. There was a convenient parking garage next door which I think is included in the cost if you book directly with Graduate Hotels but through booking.com we had to pay, the costs seemed to even out with the other discounts so it was fine. We would stay again and will look for more Graduate Hotel locations as well.

great location. fun decor. decent price.

The temperature controls were disastrous. The first evening and night, the a/c was freezing (set at low 60s). I hadn‘t brought clothes warm enough for it. Apparently I managed to eventually turn it off, but then I couldn’t sleep the next night because it was over 80. The controls were simple, but they didn‘t work as stated. They were doing construction right outside my window after 11pm one night and started before 8am the next day, which didn’t help my sleep. Also, everytime I walked barefoot on the carpet, my feet became sticky. I think it might have been a cleaning product, but it was gross. Expensive parking, but I knew that when I booked. No refrigerator, but there was an ice machine (though no bucket for it).
