Hilton Garden Inn Kalamazoo Downtown

Booked a little getaway with my husband, the hotel was very nice, clean, modern! Staff was friendly and very helpful at check in, giving us a ton of information about the property and even giving surrounding dinner recommendations! We decided to stay in and order room service, the food was fantastic, affordable, and arrived to the room quickly! Our room was cute, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable! Overall great hotel, felt very safe, clean, comfortable, with great food and drinks! We’ll definitely be back soon!

The location, the beds were so comfortable, friendly staff, everything smelled clean, loved the fire pit

Our room wasn’t vacuumed that was gross, there was brownies and skittles and crumbs on the floor from the previous people. Didn’t like that you had to pay for breakfast when other places provide free breakfast. Didn’t know we had to pay for parking either.

We did not have a chance to have breakfast, but it looked well displayed. I appreciated the staff at check in and check out. Friendly, helpful and lovely personalities. I was struggling with the parking situation and they helped me make a safe and reasonable choice.

At no fault of the facilities, the weather did not allow me to walk and explore the surrounding area. The street parking could be more guest user friendly.

All of the Personnel were very friendly and obliging. Answered every question that I had about anything very caring and professionally.

I paid for the parking garage at check out. I had to pay a second time when I left the parking garage because it would not accept the ticket that they gave me. There were people behind me so I couldn’t back up and go back into the hotel I had to pay the second time. That is the only thing that I did not like about staying in your hotel.

We liked the hotel decor, room & lobby. Location was OK to get to the State Theatre.

For dinner we had French Onion soup, I would rate a 5 on a scale of 1-10. Our hamburger deluxe, I would rate a 6.6. The prices of food & cocktails were very high. If it wasn't Winter, I would have walked to a restaurant. The breakfast was better, but I thought it was included, like many hotels do. It wasn't. My husband has mobility issues, & its hard to unload & load on the side, a step, etc), (wheelchair, portable oxygen machine, etc.) The high back chair in our room, I couldn't sit back in, even w/ a pillow. Great breakfast. Centrally located. The bed was quite comfortable.

The person checking us in obviously didn't want to be there. He wasn't very friendly. The room we were given had two queen beds, even though we reserved a king room, and it reeked of weed. We went back to the front desk where the guy seemed quite put out at having to correct this mistake. Not a word of apology. After several minutes he changed our room to a king. The rest of our stay was quite enjoyable.

The staff helped immediately with booking a room after several failed attempts booking online elsewhere.

I did not like and will never use booking.com again or any third party sites! They showed great looking rooms at several hotels and each hotel we went to was nothing like the photos sown. Hard to get a refund through third parties. It was a disaster

It is not in the best area, though i did not feel unsafe. When we left, could not use the elevator in the parking garage because a homeless man was inside! Also, i didnt notice that we were going to pay extra for parking because it was in a metro area. I would have booked further on the outskirts.

The remodel of the Masonic Temple into the hotel is excellent. I especially like the artwork tying back to Gibson, Heritage & the original Gibson factory. It's great to see hotels tie in elements of city history. Second - and probably most important is the staff. Very good with a special shout out to Alicia who took personal care of our reservation when Booking messed it up. She is top notch!!

I liked how clean and well lit the lobby was, checking in was a breeze as well as checking out. The staff was friendly from the front desk to housekeeping. Also the room was clean and had no odor which is a plus.

There isn't much to complain about. I would've liked for the rooms to be a little more spacious and have extra comforter set.
