Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Okemos - University Area, an IHG Hotel

Hotel was clean. Good location.

I completely understand the hotel and its employees have no control over the weather, however, based on the terrible storms that passed through Michigan on Thursday evening into Friday morning, the staff could have been diligent on checking on the guests in the hotel. The hotel lost complete electric power. I was on the 4th floor. Not once did anyone come by to check on me or assist me in checking out of my room. I was checking out on Friday morning & had to walk down four floors in the dark with several bags of luggage. When I arrived at the lobby all of the employees were sitting at tables with their own battery-operated lights. When I expressed my concerns with the staff on duty, their response was that I was overwhelming them (not their exact words and somewhat it was unprofessional).

It may seem odd, but one of the things I was so impressed with - besides the cleanliness - was that the bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion were in a tamper proof device. Super impressed that attention to detail.

The handicap room was at the end of the hallway instead of near the elevator. I do not need a wheelchair, but I walk with a limp. So it seemed like a long walk.

The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. The breakfast was good and had a very nice variety of hot and cold selections to choose from. Quiet, cleanliness and comfort are top priorities for us when staying in a hotel and this hotel met those expectations very well. We enjoyed it so much we decided to stay an extra night.

The automatic pancake maker at breakfast is a good idea in theory, but it didn't work that well for me personally. My pancakes came out too thin and too crispy the first time and were a bit underdone on the next try.

The hotel was very clean. The area has a lot of nice restaurants and places to eat.

The only thing I didn’t care for was the temperature in the room was set to 60 when we arrived. It was extremely cold and even the tile flooring was cold on my bare feet. It took quite awhile for the room to warm up to 69 degrees.

I made the reservation for my 20 year old son. This was the his first time starting in a hotel by himself. He loved the experience, appreciated a great room with a great location. And most importantly (for me) is he felt safe! Thank you!

The breakfast was ample, but I didn't see a reason for having stevia in all the fruit juices. Couldn't drink them.

The room wasn't absolutely FRESH smelling. More like old sweat under room freshener, not strong, but not inviting. My room in an older hotel in NYC this spring was actually absolutely FRESH, so I know it can be done. Could you try harder?

Love this hotel. I stay at alot. I strongly suggest if you are in the Okemos Michigan area this is the hotel to stay. I never heard a single person when I was in my room. Most places if someone is in the hall talking you hear. If someone opens and closes their door you hear. When I got there the parking lot was full. When I left it was empty. I actually overslept due to no noise. The breakfast was decent. The staff are amazing. The rooms are beautiful. The bed was amazing. Seriously a true resting spot.

There was nothing to dislike.

This is my go-to hotel every time I visit Okemos. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast is always filling. It also helps that this Holiday Inn Express is within walking distance of some great restaurants and coffee shops!

I loved the location and the breakfast

I called to ask about the MSU discount and they said that was the discounted price. I found out at the facility it wasn’t. I called and they gave me the same price so I booked on line because it was cheaper in Canadian dollars for me.

nice hotel, centrally located, all of the staff members were excellent. we noticed a bowl of water for visitor dogs. that is a bonus. when we travel with our dogs we will definitely consider staying at this hotel again. very good experience.
