A refreshing different kind of hotel to stay. A clean, cozy and unique place to stay. Like stepping back in time yet with some very new amenities. The shower was so beautiful and pristine I didn't want to shower and risk it loosing its sparkle. A lot of thought went into the décor to make it fit the north woods: yet tastefully done without overdoing it. A really great place and if I am in the area, I will stay here again. Easy check in, easy to get luggage in and out with the convenience of having our car right out the door.

There was some road noise I noticed when we first went to bed, but then traffic got scarce or I got used to it. There was a bit of light from the porch lights through the curtain that lit the room. ( I rather like a really dark room) Maybe thicker curtains?

A great little quaint place to stay. It's dated, but in a good way. The wood walls make it rustic and cozy. Very clean. New carpet. Super soft sheets. Newer bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was amazing. This might sound very minor to some people, but they have nice toilet paper and klenixes. Not the cheap crap. Actual glass glasses. Rags to clean your motocycle and dogs. Yard games. Fire pit. DVD player. All the little amenities that separates them from other places and which definitely makes the stay more enjoyable. The new owners were super nice and friendly. I definitely will come back and recommend.

Owner of the motel was new in the business, but a pleasure to interact with. Michael was full of interesting and helpful informationabout the area, the places where to eat and so on. I am glad I found Hillcrest!

The only drawback was finding only one three prong outlet outside of the GFI plug in the bathroom. To be fair, the owner is already aware of the issue and is waiting for bookings to slow down a bit so that the upgrades won't interfere with the clients' stays at the motel, and I totally understand!

The new owners of this hotel have done a great job renovating it and making it cute and comfortable, while saving some of the unique vintage aspects of the original place. It is a nice place to stop on the drive across the lake, and the best part was that there was a microwave, coffee maker and fridge, so we were able to heat up some things we had brought with us for dinner and breakfast.

Nothing of note

Sweet little roadside motel. Very clean. Nicely decorated and updated. Super soft towels. Nice little touch lamps that adjust settings so someone can stay up reading while the other sleeps. Great value.

The only downside was the noise from the road, but that was easy to drown out by turning on the a/c unit's fan. Shower stall may be a tight fit for large people.

This is a charming remodeled older property. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It is located right off the highway so it is easy to find but not very quiet or private. The room is nicely decorated and the flowers out front are spectacular.

The room was pretty small but manageable.

It's a nice little place in a great location. Room was clean and the bathroom was large. LOVED the bright colored chairs outside each room.

The room was a little cramped for 2 beds but all the same I would totally stay there again. Other than that, things were just fine. No complaints really.

Pet friendly, huge open space behind the building for my dog to run. The location between Escanaba and Manistique. The owner is definitely trying to improve the property.

The bathroom could use a bench or shelf. The room was quite tight for 3 of us to move around.

Location, convenient, price great. Has refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Quaint and pleasant.Staff very welcoming and lives on site.

Noisy traffic on US-2, walls thin, no hair dryer (but I'm used to a very quiet house in the woods, far from traffic). Would come back better prepared: with hair dryer, eye mask and ear buds.

Easy-to-find location right on US-2, but very little traffic noise. Besides the bed there was a comfortable chair, a table with two chairs, large bathroom, new shower, fridge, and microwave. Anything you could want, and at a reasonable price.

Everything was excellent.
