Staff was kind. Hotel room was nice, comfortable, clean. Not too noisy. Restaurant was reasonably priced for a four star hotel.

What did not go well.....I booked the room through booking.com. The room price was $191 plus tax. I ended up paying well over $300 for parking and amenities (that I never used). That was a surprise. So the room cost me nearly double what I expected. Also check in is way too late (4:00pm)

Staff was great. Room was nice and very comfortable.

The breakfast included you only have one selection or you will be charged. No refills on the drinks. No microwave in the rooms. Could not have a speaker only could play music off your phone. Drinks and food was a little pricey. The pool only goes to 4ft and is very small more of a splash pad than pool

The upkeep of the room. We noticed alot of stains and a good bit of things were falling apart that need to be replaced. The room was definitely clean though. Everything worked as it should have. I just expect more from the clout I've heard about this specific location. I would definitely stay there again.

The manager got involved in my check in. I had the wrong weekend checked on the reservations calendar online. She secured a room with a comparable price and allowed me to stay. It would have been terrible to look for another hotel at that time of night. Kuddos to the night manager. I asked her name but I can't remember it. She was so professional and courteous.

More towels in the room. With two people in the room. A shower at night and a shower in the morning. Two sets of towels will not last through several baths.

The hotel was in the perfect location for any type of leisure activities you wanted to do. The rooms were nice as well as the view. The restaurant and bar were top notch. The bar tender name Laura was the best. So many things to do and see within walking distance or a short drive away, just overall awesome!

The one thing I would add is having a microwave in the rooms. I know a restaurant is on-site but, it's still a great experience to be able to WARM-UP leftovers.

we loved the king suite room #1201. the view was amazing and the room was huge. it had a huge tv we watched the super bowl on. whished we had invited some friends over to enjoy the space. their restaurant was closed, so we ordered pizza from across the street from Grottos, VERRY GOOD! my reservation i made on booking.com for some reason was lost, the front desk staff was very nice and happy to help get me into a room.

one of the toilets wouldn't flush. both of the shower facets had low pressure. the paint was peeling off in both of the bathtubs where they were painted. we didn't like that the restaurant was closed...although we understand due to staffing issues, but one of the main reasons we chose hotel Derek was for their pizza.

Beds and pillows very comfy...room good size and clean...perfect location for friends to meet...I have stayed at Hotel Derek many times in my travels to Houston, nothing to complain about

Shower could be updated

The staff was very helpful because I had a problem checking in through booking.com. they accommodated me when they didn't have to and I appreciate it that so much.

The only thing that could be improved was the bathrooms the tub actually the shower needed to be replaced and I had two different rooms and both bathtubs or showers were not up to par. Other than that it was an exceptional hotel.

Breakfast steak and potatoes were seasoned so good! Staff was really nice. Great location for fun.

Rooms were not stocked as advertised. No staff cleaned my room. Only per request. Took 3 calls just to get clean towels.

Easy access to the parking area from the hotel. The housekeeping staff were friendly and overall, I felt safe because you couldn't get to a floor without a room key.

The man who checked me in kept reiterating there was a $800 fee for smoking in the room. I finally told him I heard him the first time. The clock in the room wasn't plugged in and I couldn't find an outlet for it. There was no microwave and the fridge was filled with items so I had no place to store food I'd purchased off-site. I think the plumbing was clogged because when taking a shower, there would be at least 2 inches of water. Same in the sink.
