Mantra Melbourne Airport

The transit driver from hotel to airport was grumpy and unhelpful. It would have been nice to drop us off at Terminal 2 entry or even given some instructions on how to get to Terminal 2. Instead we had a long walk trying to find the entry.

The hotel provides a free shuttle between the airport and the hotel. Called after clearing Customs and picked up within half an hour. Driver friendly and helpful. Hotel is about a 10 minute ride from airport. Room had a large bed with a comfy mattress and a very large, very clean modern bathroom, including a bath and shower options. The room itself is a little worn but not extraordinarily so for a hotel. A full buffet breakfast is available for $28 with a good selection of hot and cold dishes, cereals, fruit, toast options, croissants and juices. Return trip to airport also provided at check out.

A later check out time than 10am for international travellers needing to catch up on sleep

While the accommodation was really lovely the transport from the airport to the Mantra could improve. What should have been a 15 to 20 minute wait for the shuttle bus was 50 minutes. We were looking for a bus with the Mantra name but they have long term parking next door and that was the name used. We saw other nearby hotels with buses making 2 to 3 pickups during our wait. We missed the first pickup because it was full by the time we found out. The driver did not check if Mantra passengers were waiting. And I had phoned for pickup with my name. It would be helpful if prospective passengers were given the bus name.

The young man that checked us in was so friendly. My that makes a difference! The room we had has been the best so far. 729. We could even see planes landing/taking off even though some way away. Nice size room, was well appointed, very clean. We had to leave too early for breakfast. This hotel is so handy as we park at United anyway. Definitely a vast improvement to my last stay.

Checking out was inefficient. There were two young men working but one was on the phone for the whole time, so there were a number of us waiting…waiting. I ended up using the express drop off key box otherwise I might not have made my flight.

i object to the security deposit paid at check in. many hotels do this when paying direct to property & I think it is out dated & out of line. it takes at least 6-10 days for the security deposit to be reimbursed into your account - obviously without interest. aside from hire car companies there is no other service where you pay in full for the product or service & then pay an extra charge “just because”! when you are travelling & more than one hotel does this it can add up to hundreds of dollars you don’t have access to. plus, the hotel has a record of your credit card number. I have stayed at several Mantra properties & others that do this & not happy with this policy - it will inform where I book moving forward. full payment should be the full transaction.

Shuttle was good except we had to walk all the way to terminal 4. Hard for my sister who has walking issues.

The noise from a room on our floor. My sister said they were playing music and making noise in the early hours.

I was very disappointed with the shuttle. When I rang I explained very clearly what I was wearing (a bright red track suit top), told them my name, but both these points were conveyed to the driver wrong or not at all. The wrong name, never my dress to make it easy for them. Instead of us being picked up the first time, we were left to wait 25 minutes in the cold, tired from a long plane trip. I had to ring a number of times to see just where the transport was. I put this very clearly at the feet of the chap who answered the phone, he DID NOT LISTEN, OR ACCEPT THE INFORMATION GIVEN TO HIM. This created the poor service that we received, which put us on the back foot about what tto expect. As for the rest of the tthings we were very happy, with the room, facilities, would we come back yes, but we mwwould expect the areas we had difficultiers with to be rectified.

The correct service from the chap who answered the shuttle phone call from me. When we checked in, went to pay the amount for the room, it was showing an extra $100, never was it explained before this happened so I weas aware that the extra $100 was a bond, what for I am still at a loss to know, as there was nothing in the fridge we could have used & not paid for. In your previous email to me these points could have been highlighted. The room service say Breakfast $25, but not the pricing for each item, if you selected that item, $25 for a bowl of museli is totally outrageous, nor a room service fee. When it was delivered, I saw the charges, I refused to accept it, where as both my partner & I took breakfast as $25, which she took up with them when we checked out.

Great location very close to melbourne airport. After arriving back in Australia from a long international flight...needing a place to rest before an early domestic flight home the next day. Modern clean spacious rooms. Lovely staff at reception

Fantastic to have shuttle bus to and from airport. Unfortunately on our arrival, the driver had music up so loud we had to ask her to turn it down. On arrival to the hotel ..our first time staying.. the driver got out of the shuttle bus didn't tell us how to get to the hotel from the carpark we had arrived in. She did not offer to help unload our bags either, just went straight to the carpark office. We walked up to the carpark office and spoke to one of her colleagues asking if we had arrived at the hotel and where was it! Thankfully they where very helpful and directed us to the hotel...which had an entrance from the carpark.

Every aspect of our stay was perfect, except for when the front door was slammed and crushed with Police all over and we not able to return to our room until much later. Ironically, we were planning to have a quiet night and enjoy the great facilities your Hotel has to offer. It wasn't meant to be! The Shuttle to the Airport was so handy and the Breakfast was fantastic- a great selling point. Congratulations. I will definitely come again and tell all my friends in Brisbane. As a matter of fact I have already spread the word

Staff at reception were courteous and professional, their directions were accurate and clear. information regarding parking was helpful. The room was as I expected. It was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and the bedding clean and crisp. We found two extra pillows in the wardrobe, these added to our comfort.

I did notice water damage to the wall from where the TV hangs. The TV was tuned to the ABC on all channels. I used the auto tuning function and programmed the TV to locate all additional channels. We went out and on our return noticed that the TV had defaulted to only the ABC again. I retuned the TV and all seemed fine. No big deal obviously, but inconvenient. I was unhappy with smokers that enjoyed their habit much to close to the entrance.
