It was quirky just as we expected it to be. The art work and sculptures are so interesting. Every day you see something that you missed. We loved that it dated back to 1892. The continental breakfast was very good with an amazing choice of fresh and dried fruits. The bed was extremely comfortable. We thought the bathroom in the corner of the room was like going into a confession box which made us laugh. The room had every you would need. Well positioned for visiting Freemantle tourist sights. We would highly recommend this B and B if you want something that’s a bit different.

Fothergills is a gem! This well maintained, historic residence, is delightful accommodation. I was warmly welcomed by the friendly host and taken on a tour of sorts of the pleasant outside area. The many sculptures and wonderful modern artworks about the place, add a subtle quirkiness . The bed was comfortable and the room stylishly furnished. One could not want for more. The continental breakfast was superb, fresh fruits, cereals, breads. Enough choice to suit all tastes. The croissants delivered from Paris to table were an unexpected treat! I recommend Fothergills of Fremantle for a welcoming and comfortable stay.

A grand old home within easy walking distance of the Fremantle restaurant zone. The house was full of antique furniture which suited my taste. The artwork and maps on the walls were excellent. Some of the artwork was quirky but brilliant. As a birder, I loved the fact that they had a resident Boobook Owl in the front yard. The included breakfast definitely gave us a great start for our day. The owners/staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this b&b.

The stairs but we knew they were there so this isn't a biggy. The restaurant area is down a fairly steep hill but great for walking off a big evening meal... and it's Fremantle, it is hilly.

The property is very unique and it is full of memorabilia. This is not your normal hotel but has a quirky feel about it. There are five private rooms across the two houses that include a private bathrooms for each room located in your room The complementary continental breakfast was great for the price but you can order a hot breakfast at a low cost. The parking is on the street which is ample or there is a couple of off street parking spots on a first in first served basis The property is a short 10 minute walk to Boat Harbour the touristy area with lots of restaurants and cafes. They have complementary snacks in each room which was a nice touch Not for everyone but well worth the stay.

all was good.

Everything as expected, although getting into property by car was tricky - poorly signed and on very busy road. Room was lovely and old-school glam, with fabulous artworks and plenty of books, etc. Initial reception at arrival was a bit of the 'tired and overworked' variety rather than "Hi, great to see you!"... But perhaps my jagged nerves after attempting to reverse into driveway after overshooting for second time didn't hep matters... :( Overall we'd recommend Fothergill's

Street noise and light to room at night were annoying. Especially the street cleaning with bright, flashing lights at 3am!! Can't blame Fothergill's for that, but would have loved the cleaners to have taken less than 30 minutes to do their job...

We were blown away by the decor of the whole B&B, and our room. There were fabulous artworks and books everywhere, lots of character and antiques in every room. We stayed in the "Samson Room" which had a very spacious balcony with heaps of sitting room and a sea view. Our room was spacious and decorated beautifully. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There were little extras included for free e.g. snacks and cold drinks in your room and afternoon tea was available in the kitchen. Toweling robes were also provided. Although the property is on a busy road, the rooms were quiet. The breakfast room and courtyard were delightful and the continental breakfast was excellent - heaps to choose from. A cooked breakfast was available for an extra $15. Communication with the property was good. We arrived after reception had closed and the instructions to get the keys were texted to me. Parking was available on site.

We carried our luggage up the stairs which were narrow and steep. Not a problem for us but I would suggest the elderly or disabled book a room on the ground floor. The staff member on breakfast duty could have been more welcoming.

I enjoyed the fresh fruit salad available for breakfast, and cupcakes upon arrival. There were soft drinks and snack foods in our room. I liked the individual look of the bedrooms and the eclectic decorations and art works. We had a library next to our bedroom we could access which was great. The beds were very comfortable and I appreciated the ceiling fan as well as the reverse cycle. The manager was helpful advising where to park on the property and which streets to walk in to the tourist district which is close by.

The bath towels and robes are washed in-house and could do with bleaching occasionally to make them look white and unstained. I wished we could open the window to allow fresh air in to our bedroom. Other than that the accommodation was very good and we would be happy to stay again.

Fothergills is a couple of beautiful old heritage buildings that have been nicely decorated and our room had a balcony with a view across Fremantle. Anyone with a mild interest in art will appreciate the quality and number of local well known West Australian artists whose paintings are spread right through the building. In addition there's a number of external artworks spread throughout the garden. The location is within easy walking distance to the City CBD and the many restaurants and shops. We certainly enjoyed our night there.

If you love art, history and character in the places you stay, then you'll love Fothergills. So many interesting artworks and sculptures to study. The room was great with a very comfy bed and quality linen. A delicious breakfast is served in the dining room which is a lovely way to start the day. Complimentary cake and biscuits in the kitchen for afternoon tea was an added bonus. The hosts, John and Susie were lovely too. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Fothergills. We'll definitely stay again if we're back in Fremantle.

Great character! Glorious old building filled with a gallery's worth of eclectic art and interesting sculptures. Large courtyard and verandahs with plenty of seating nooks for enjoying the art-entwined gardens. Homely, old-world feel. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes in the kitchen to help yourself for afternoon tea. Healthy, fresh breakfast spread in the window and art filled dining room in the mornings. Welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful 10 minute stroll to walk through the heritage precinct into the heart of Freo town.
