Ryan Mansion

I loved everything about my stay here. The property is stunning - I was a tourist in my temporary home taking pics and looking around. The breakfast's were second to none and Mary is a true gem of a person. I stayed here for a conference at the conference centre and it was a nice walk (10-15 min depending if going down or up the hill), or super short taxi ride. The room is very comfortable; bed, bath, in room coffee - all was great. I loved the personal touch that Mary and Robert provided with some history of the property and stories.

I was sad to know that Mary wouldn't come home with me when I had to go.

Great place and a beautiful mansion, the whole house is very clean. But above all Mary was the highlight extremely helpful and always available to lend a hand!

Too expensive The TV did not have cable, limited channels for a high price Breakfast was very limited and was not buffet, did not even serve bacon It's a little far to downtown centre when you're on your way back, it's a fair hike up! No lift and No help to get your suitcase up! Be prepared to lift your own suitcase up the stairs especially if your staying in the top floor.

The staff was really helpful and accommodating. The manager gave us recommendation on where to visit and which saved us lots of planning time. He even booked restaurants for us. The reception lady was reasonably flexible with the breakfast timing and tried to fit it to our schedule.

There was nothing to like. I would like to see minibars in the rooms. I asked and they said they already bought them but they got an electrician to assess the capacity of the main breaker.

When we booked, we were hoping for a stay in a historic property that reflected the heritage of St. John's. This hotel certainly met that expectation! The place was spotlessly clean, and the staff (Mary) was very helpful and considerate. The location was excellent.

It was smaller than we expected (I think only 5 rooms), with no facilities, more of a B&B than a hotel. I wish the listing on booking.com had been clearer. The bed was a tad soft. Breakfast fare was wholesome but limited, and very similar from day to day.

So beautiful. well maintained with historical charm. Mary took good care of us always seemed to be around no matter what time of day. The walk downtown was short and picturesque. The room was small but comfortable.

We didn’t mind but we were on the third floor which was quite a hike up. we were there for 5 days and I would have like some storage for clothing in the room as we lived out of the suitcase which was disorganized.

An amazing old home with the woodwork and staircase built by the same company that did the grand staircase on the Titanic. The level of craftsmanship is amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the host was most accommodating. The home was also furnished with very nice artwork and breakfast was very nice also.

Very friendly welcome, especially as we arrived late at night. Mary cooked a different breakfast each day and was always keen to chat. Robert went out of his way to make sure our stay was a very pleasant one, including giving us very helpful information about sights to see and places to go.

Nothing to dislike.

The location is very nice. Loved the place. Mary made our first trip to St. John's feel like home. Breakfast was the best ! Room 201 was very comfortable and welcoming. We didn't suffer. Lol Thanks to Robert the gardener for good travel advice . Too bad th Hurricane Fiona chased us out a day early. Would definitely go back. Mark and Rhonda Sinclair

Our stay was an absolute delight, enhanced by our interaction with Mary, the Manager. The Mansion is historic and eclectic, beautifully appointed.

I am always grateful to find modern plug ins which Ryan Mansion does not have. It is not surprising in an old house.

The place itself was beautiful, historically significant and in a great location for walking down to the shops, cafes and restaurants. We wish we had more time there! The bathroom was really nice and the beds are very comfortable. The staff were kind and accommodating.

Nothing major at all but if they are busy you may have an issue with parking as it is limited. Still totally worth the stay!
