Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Dartmouth - Halifax

breakfast was great!! staff was very friendly, pool/slide were a good setup for our 10-8 and 4 year olds… lots of great restaurants directly across the street, close to gas station.

pool area definitely needs a lot of upgrading.. one of the old hot tubs was a major hazard( not filled with water/no barriers around it. Water slide although fun, was very rough( uneven surface )which resulted in our 10 year old getting scrapes. Pool was much colder then expected. A lot of algae build up around pool deck( definitely not as clean well kept as the pics show) room amenities weren’t as well stocked as expected(half a roll of TP). mattress’s were very hard. smart TV’s would be a great upgrade.

very friendly staff, lots of complimentary drink, food, and toiletry items available in case you forgot something.

The pool was why we booked this hotel, but I was very disappointed- it didn’t look like it has been cleaned in a Very long time. Hot tub water was murky, there was bits of loose gravel or dirt around and in it and all over the pool deck. The floor around the pool was so uneven you’re losing balance in a lot of spots- with kids running around this is dangerous. Just very disappointed with the uncleanliness and disrepair of the pool.

Quick check in, was allowed an early check in, since I was travelling with my eight year old daughter. Staff was so polite and genuinely helpful. Fireworks display across the street was an added bonus to our stay! front staff even gave my daughter some halloween treats! The staff member working the breakfast area was very nice and helpful.

My only negative comment concerns the pool on Saturday evening of our stay. My daughter and another mother daughter were enjoying the pool when 4 teenage boys came in, they basically took over the water slide, so much to the fact that my daughter wanted to leave the pool area, as did the other mother and daughter. They were running and down the slide, climbing from the bottom of the slide to the top of the slide. Very unsafe! I know it is swim at your own risk, but these young men should have been old enough to know better. Was extremely nervous that they would hurt someone or themselves. I did mention it to the nice employee restocking the towels, so I am not sure if the situation was rectified or not.

Close to the mall and many shops around. The hotel has a pool and slides, so the kids had a lot of fun. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Also, there is a good park and a small beach nearby, and we enjoyed walking after having dinner. Breakfast was OK - eggs, bacon, sausages, waffles, cornflakes for kids, and some baked goods. Nothing special, but not bad either. The complimentary coffee in the lobby was good. Also great selection of teas.

Breakfast could be better (like some vegetables or cheese selection would be nice), but I guess it's OK for this hotel. Overall, good value for the price.

The staff were extremely helpful, and gave great restaurant recommendations as well as accommodated our late check-out. My toddler loved the pool and waterslide! Life jackets and extra towels were available. When he got cold in the pool the poolside shower also helped to warm him up. Breakfast was also very tasty with many options.

Parking spaces were too narrow and one car would often occupy two spaces. Also, the textured blanket covers were uncomfortable and we had to remove them when sleeping at night. Overall very minor things which didn't detract from our visit.

Have stayed here a number of times the Hampton is always great. Was so nice to get back to buffet breakfast again. The hot breakfast was nice and always enjoy the waffle maker.

Clerk at Front Desk questioned card on file. Booking allows a person to use a debit card which I always use when doing the original booking but I replace it with a regular credit card when I actually check in which the booking says I'll be doing at the property. Haven't had an issue with this in the past. When I checked my bank statement the full fee plus $1.00 was charged to my debit card even though I provided the clerk with my Mastercard at check in (it was also charged to my Mastercard) and the fee wasn't reversed on my debit card until a week later. Thankfully I didn't need that additional $372.00.

This property had a nice location in Dartmouth, that was surrounded by plenty of restaurants, a gas station, and a movie theatre. It had easy access to the highways for a relatively short drive into Halifax. The property was clean, as were the rooms. Staff were friendly, and the pool and waterslide were very enjoyable for kids and adults alike. The breakfast in the morning had a decent selection including waffles, eggs, and rotating proteins from one morning to the next. Complementary coffee and tea were available throughout the day which is always a welcome touch. Plenty of parking is available on site.

For being what appears to be a relatively new building, the hotel rooms themselves were lacking soundproofing. We could hear and feel every sound and every time the neighbouring room hit the wall with something.

It was a short stay due to a flight cancelation but the room was very clean and the staff were exemplary, very professional while being personable. Front office staff arranged for early morning transport which occurred without any problem.

The only complaint was that the advertisement on TripAdvisor and Booking.com state the hotel was 20 kilometers from the airport. This is misleading as it is 25 kilometers away. May not sound serious but it is disingenuous, especially when potential clients are searching based on "distance from" a specific place such as an airport.

All in all, this is a great hotel. Dartmouth Crossing isn't our first choice of areas to stay but it's not the worst. The hotel is in a good location as far as walking to eating establishments, the theater, and such.

The no maid service because of Covid is a bit old. Covid isn't going away, so the hotel needs to get back to business as usual. We were at the hotel for 3 days/2 nights. We had a suite with a kitchen, and since there is just one tiny garbage can we were finding creative ways to pile trash up. That's about it.

I loved that my son had an amazing experience his first time in a hotel "5years old" he was very relaxed before his surgery. I loved how a playground was so close , he loved the water slide in the hotel, and there was a nice family restaurant so close. The staff were super polite and helpful. The room was very clean and beautiful staying on level 5.

I didnt like that my first time booking online sucked because i didnt know I'd miss out on a discount where we only booked to be close to the iwk. Had I called and booked i wouldve saved 100$ and there was nothing we could do about it where i paid a head of time. I also was caught off gaurd , thinking where I had everything paid a head of time , that i only saved for parking at the hospital, fuel and food as i live 2 hrs away an was informed upon checking in that I had to pay an additional 250 damage deposit. Had i knew while booking thats money i could've included in my budget. Yes you get your money back which is great unless you needed it that night and was over budget.
