The location is excellent for exploring Halifax. The fact that it joins to the Scotia Square mall and across the main road to the waterfront was a big plus. The free WiFi , air con, swimming pool, gym and fridge in the room very all wee bonuses .

The rooms are very dated - and would definitely benefit from being modernised to match the reception area of the hotel . Paper coffee cups in rooms could be replaced every day rather than every third day. The staff came across as a bit rude on occassion when I had to ask for more towels and coffee and were not interested in answering my questions about buses on the day I checked out - which was disappointing!

The location is excellent and within walking distance of all the major museums and the beautiful waterfront. Scotia Square, over the road (or use the covered walkway) has a good selection of shops and basic amenities, and a very convenient rental car site. The rooms were quiet, peaceful, and very spacious. The beds were great! The bathrooms were clean and the water was always hot, too. The restaurant on the ground floor has a great breakfast selection and is open every day (which I was confused by when looking at the hotel website tbh). The staff of the hotel, and restaurant, were great, as well.

The only complaint is the lack of storage for clothing for two people. There were 3 drawers and 8 hangers and that was not enough for us staying for 4 nights... but that's really all there was to complain about!

Parking questionable Parked at Scotia Square as directed by Hotel Parked got ticket no problem However paid for my stay at desk, and didn't notice my described receipt until I got home. I noticed reception charged me $85.10 incl tx. for parking When I left parking, in order to get out I inserted ticket and visa card. Looked like I paid twice and a credit is expected. There is something wrong with my payment for hotel. Checking my Visa I was charged for $854.14. When I booked the total price was $704.15 There is something wrong with billing. Looks like your agent is shafting the hotel with their fees and passing on to your customers. $150 difference is totally unacceptable Please explain and e-mail johngavin@atlanticseabreeze.com

Excellent value for money for such a convenient downtown location. We were a little apprehensive having read some negative reviews and were very pleasantly surprised. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we would expect from a business hotel.

Slightly surprised that housekeeping is not every day. However it didn't matter as they emptied the trash and brought fresh towels and coffee on request. Restaurant hours were very limited but again it didn't matter as plenty of great restaurants very near by.Great end to our Canada trip.

We will come back eventually and not look for a different place. I loved the considerate booking - away from screening and running children on the first level. The bathroom was nice. 110v and charging options available. Tastefully decorated. We had a great view.

The soap and shampoo dispenser where too hard to use. Outlets were loose. The sauna was just warm and should be between 70 and 80 degr. Cel min. The change room should be accessible from the outside. The pool needs supervision, because 4 guys were horsing around there, in and out of the water and being loud. They drove everyone else out. They went there every evening. I was not able to turn down the room temperature over night. A deal on parking would have been nice.

It's right down town close to split crow, the lower deck, casino, and scotia center. The Blue Nose restaurant is just a few steps away and excellent. The hotel is a basic, nice and clean. There is a Starbucks in the lobby. The staff are happy to help and on your last day you can leave your luggage with them to get more sightseeing in or go and have breakfast. We always stay here when in Halifax, price is the best in the city.

The grouting is getting dark in the corners in the bathrooms and showing age but not grosse, they could use a touch up someday soon before it becomes a real eye sore. That is not a showstopper for us, but it could be for some.

the rooms need a bit of an update to make it match the aesthetic of the lobby. the Sauna didn’t work when we were there and somewhat disappointed there was no hot tub, which isn’t really anything they can fix short of putting one in. I just would have enjoyed a relaxing soak after a full day of walking. location is the best location you could imagine. perfect to get to everything by walking..

rooms needed an update. would have liked a queen bed instead of a double. hard for two people to sleep in.

Check in was quick and efficient. Everything about the hotel was clearly explained to me, amenities, restaurant, etc... The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful in terms of how to get to the airport, what restaurants they recommended, how to get to certain places I was looking for, what to see and do in downtown Halifax etc... It was a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

Everything I put into the mini fridge froze, this made it difficult to eat the few things I put in the fridge to stay cold, as they froze and I couldn't eat them. The hotel is a little dated but that didn't put me off at all.

There was no breakfast but there was a restaurant called Tempo that seemed to be closed most of the time. We ate breakfast at the Bluenose down the street.

Don't know if you charge for parking or not but we did see some angry people in other hotels who were upset over the high cost of parking. We didn't have a vehicle so we weren't affected. I even told a desk clerk that the city of Halifax should put big notice on their website." If your staying in any of our hotels don't bring your car!"

We traditionally stay at The Barrington, for the annual Saltwire Christmas Parade of Lights. The Barrington has excellent views of the parade route!! The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help!! The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable!! It's a great location for all things downtown!! Had a fantastic visit and can't wait to go back!!

The food, at Tempo, wasn't as good as years past. They had ran out of two items on the menu that we wanted. I'm certain it was due to the busy day but after so many years of accommodating the high demand of parade day, I'd think they'd ensure to not run out of food. The room phone shows room service but none was available. Tempo won't deliver to rooms but they like the hotel business.
