Crowne Plaza Kitchener-Waterloo, an IHG Hotel

Nice hotel. Good location with shops close by. Close to transport. Though we had driven there. Took a little while to figure out how to get into underground parking as entry is down the side of the main entry. At roadside. Rooms, beds, and staff were all good. It was quiet, and I had a comfortable night's sleep. Under the beds were in need of a clean. Otherwise, the room was a nice size, clean, and very comfortable. The small coffee machine in the room was very handy. My daughter and I enjoyed the pool facilities * Overall, we had a lovely stay, visiting family on a trip from Ireland. Would recommend highly. 👌

* No changing rooms or private area's to change by pools, and no showers at poolside (hygiene). As the pool is quite open with large glass panels around the pool, I felt a little too on display. The pool itself was lovely, very clean, towels available at poolside and we really enjoyed our swim. 🙂

Upon arriving early (approximately noon hour), I asked if I could stow my suitcase until check-in and the staff member stated that an early check-in was possible. That was great news and I really appreciated it. Also, the next morning we had the breakfast buffet ($20). It was great: the large selection and food was very good as was the service.

We had a room right beside the elevator, so more noise than some rooms. Yet that could have been a trade-off given that was what was available for an early check-in. A trade off that I'm satisfied with.

The location was terrific. Walking distance to restaurants and bars. The staff were amazing! Shout out to Heera who received us into the Plaza. She was personable and very welcoming. All staff were friendly when we crossed paths. The room was clean. Loved the hot shower and dual showerhead was a nice bonus. Everything was easily accessible to the location.

The parking garage and access to it was a little less desirable. There is co struction going on in the front building and I don't care for alleyways but it was okay during daylight hours.

My room was a good size, and well laid out, with a dedicated area where I could set up my laptop computer. The bed was comfortable, and came with a top sheet rather than solely a comforter, so it was easy not to get overheated during the night. The bathroom was appropriately sized, not seeming too cramped, and had a logical layout and the right amount of counter-space. The water pressure in the stall shower was good. This property is very conveniently located in the downtown area.

The buffet breakfast was no better than so-so. Not actively bad, but some of the chafing dishes were empty when I got there and weren't replenished, and some of the fresh fruit had gone off. For the price I paid, I don't feel that I got fair value. On the other hand, restaurant staff, like the front-desk staff, were notably pleasant: friendly as well as professional.

Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Gave us a FREE upgrade, as our reservation had been all screwed up by Booking.com (assumption) and when we got to the hotel, there was no reservation as had been confirmed by email! The over half hour check in process made us late for a wedding reception, it was an extremely stressful check-in, but the staff and Manager Sandeep were amazing, and very helpful.

Our reservation could have been properly processed with the hotel, and our check-in would have not been so stressful! I would like to know what happened that made our confirmed reservation for December under a totally different name? :(

The room was very nice, impeccably clean and the bed exceptionally comfortable.

My friend checked in before I did, and even though I expressly specified that my card was to be charged for the room, and again reminded the front desk upon checkout, her card was charged and she had to call and arrange for the charge to be reversed. I have not checked to see whether my card was also charged. I thought the room was quite expensive for one night. I asked for the detailed bill to be emailed to me, confirmed my email address but have not yet seen the email.

I took my daughter for a short 2 day getaway, this hotel was perfect! Great rooms, we played mini-putt, swam in the beautiful pool, and I highly recommend the breakfast buffet! The food is amazing, with different options every morning. The beds and pillows were comfortable, clean and roomy. The lobby and lounge areas are very pretty. Also close to some great restaurants! We would definitely stay again!

The mini-Pitt and bowling alley were a little dated, and in a very low staffed area, it still clean and well-kept

Breakfast staff very welcoming and friendly. The evening meal was nice but a very limited choice. Because of covid room cleaning was twice in 11 days on request. The room wasn't vacuumed although towels etc where changed.

On arrival we had to pay $1000 and 5 days later the balance had to be paid - I have never in all the IHG Hotels had to pay up front for our stays! It was queried at the time but they insisted on payment! This to me shows that there was no trust exhibited towards guests which I explained at the time. The toilet holder in our room wasn't fixed to the wall properly it slipped round when you where using it. The swimming pool had a divider from the deep end to the shallow end which made it no good for swimming lengths. The changing rooms had a coded entry locks which when using the codes given didn't open, this was reported at the time. The route from the car park was torturous when you have more than 1 case.

- The bathroom is TINY. Everything is cramped together (tub, sink, toilet). - The other reviews are true: housekeeping DOES NOT clean the room unless requested. In our case, they didn't clean our room even if I requested multiple times (when we left in the morning, when we came back in the afternoon, when we came back from the pool). I persisted and got back to a clean room only BY 6PM. Other than this, front desk service was good.

The staff was excellent, from the front desk, to the maintenance and the waitress, she was excellent. Everyone was easy to deal with, and the waitress (whose name I didn't get) made breakfast that much better. She was very outgoing, funny, and helpful (giving us directions to where we were heading out to).

When we arrived in our room, we had no lights on one side of the room. Maintenance came quick and resolved the issue just as quick. We had a great chat with him afterwards, as well. He gave us a bit of history on the hotel as he had been working there many years - quite interesting. Also had an issue, we discovered later, with the fridge. Again, maintenance arrive quickly and resolved it, again, just as quickly.
