Hyatt Place Montreal - Downtown

Staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. It's connected to a small mall, next to a supermarket and pharmacy which was a plus. Pool and sauna was a great plus as well. There was a garage underneath, which was safe and charged a better rate than most downtown garages. We didn't take the metro, but a metro station is also right there as well so everything is conveniently located. We paid for the breakfast and it was fine, nothing too crazy.

It's next to Place Émilie-Gamelin which is fine, but there are a lot of homelessness and drug users around the area. That's nothing on the property though, and we felt very safe throughout, but it was a sight to see when first arriving. Nonetheless, I'd still stay in this property again because it was relatively close to everything and I felt very safe despite that knowledge.

My room was spotless, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the general areas of the Hotel were very clean. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over my career as a salesman, and this is among the very best. Cleanliness is important to me, and this place is top notch!

If pressed to pick a negative about the hotel it would be location in consideration of late night hours. Its close to some nice restaurants, attractions, and the metro station, but it looks like the area could be a bit seedy if you’re out late. That being said, I’m sure it’s as least as safe as any other inner city hotel, and it certainly wouldn’t deter me from staying there again. Daylight hours are perfectly fine.

The hotel is located in downtown Montreal and within walking distance to Old Montreal and all the shops/restaurants Montreal has to offer. The staff were welcoming, polite, and very helpful. The room was nicely updated and adequate for our needs. The fitness room was clean and had a variety of equipment that you don't normally see in most hotel fitness rooms.

Being the fact that the hotel is located downtown, parking in the garage was the only option available to us and, even though they validate the parking ticket for guests, you still have to pay for the parking as it is rolled into your bill. The bed was not very comfortable. It was hard as a rock and hard to get comfortable. I woke up very stiff and sore each morning. The hotel's coffee was less than palatable, and their breakfast was not appealing. Our first morning there, they served lukewarm scrambled eggs that were soupy at best. They were clearly undercooked and inedible. We had to eat out each day.

Exceptionally co-operative and polite staff who made our stay so super comfortable that we forgot it was our first time in Montreal and that we dont speak or understand French at all! The location makes this hotel effortlessly the BEST in Downtown Montreal! We literally walked to all the tourist atttractions in Montreal e.g. La Grande Roue (10mins walk), Old Montreal (8minuteswalk) The breakfast which was free with our room was Unbelievably Awesome with wide selection of bagels, bread, cereals, hot porridge, eggs, milk, sausages, hash browns, fresh fruits, tea coffee etc.! Such an amazing breakfast buffet (free with room) is literally impossible to beat that too in the heart of a city like Montreal! The rooms and bathrooms are extremely clean and have a very updated modern look.

It exceeded our expectations on all accounts, the breakfast room and food provided was excellent with attentive service and fresh produce being brought out all the while. The swimming pool are and sauna room- were a great size with relaxing day beds and fresh towels. The sauna wasn’t working when we were there but was heated by the sun & actually gorgeous! My husband needed to use the working space on the mezzanine- which was perfect as he forgot his laptop charger and was able to log into his work from your desktops. My mum en hi yes reading her book in the comfortable lounges both on the ground floor and the beautiful mezzanine. Your front desk staff were very helpful and our room was made up each day which felt luxurious. The hotel had Montreal city summer performances in the park opposite Sk there was always some music to listen to or dancing to see, and the pedestrian walk way was decorated for summer with free activities. We walked easily into the vielle port to the historic sites and restaurants.and we loved some local bars/ restaurants like Le blossom & Mineral less than 300 m from the Hyatt Place. Overall we were super impressed! Big thanks to everyone!!

Actually nothing it was all so good

The location is excellent. IT is not the centre of the town, but it is right above the Berri UQAM station which is the hub for the Montreal Metro. The Metro is extremely convenient and the convenience of having a metro right under the hotel beats a central location any day. Montreal is a comparatively smaller city and distances aren't much. It's also very close to a number of restaurants with a varied choice of cuisine. The presence of a supermarket right next door and a starbucks within the premises also make this a very convenient hotel, especially for families.

A concierge would have been welcome. Some travel brochures would have been very helpful too. Though the hotel is very close to a number of restaurants, and there is a selection of packaged sandwiches, soups and beverages near the reception, nothing beats the convenience of room service. The park in front of the hotel and the area near the hotel need better maintenance. The presence of a number of homeless persons and addicts in the vicinity can be a bit intimidating for someone unfamiliar.

Property was nicely renovated. Stood there when it was owned by Gouverneur and it was a nice place when it was managed by Gouverneur. But Hyatt did a great job renovating it, making it even better.

At breakfast time it seemed a bit mismanaged. When Gouverneur managed it, they would assign tables to the guests and bring a carafe of really good coffee. This time you have to look for your own table and get your own coffee from the Buffett which kept running out because they basically had just 3 large carafes of coffee for all the guests.

The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and felt it was good value for our money. Pool amenities were clean and nice. We didn’t need to interact with staff much, however any interactions were pleasant and helpful. Loved the proximity to downtown and the Metro.

We thought taxes and parking were included in our booking price but were added upon arrival. This was an unexpected $300 expense. However, this information may have been missed by us in the fine print when we booked.

Great location with fantastic transport network and large size of the room. The design is fresh and modern. Breakfast (while same throughout my stay) is scrumptious and very satisfying (hash browns are one of the highlights for me everyday). There are also tons of places to lounge around in the hotel so you don't always have to huddle up in your room. The hotel is also connected to the metro (till 1800) and shopping centre next door so you can literally be in shorts yet still get essential and food during a snow storm.

Just have to take not that it is more like a long term stay apartment than a hotel, so the level of service will have to be adapted. There are also no bathroom amenities, but shop next door can get something small for your trip. Staff are friendly, but I also feel they are not given a lot of tools to enhance the experience that Hyatt market themselves to be.

Staff was courteous, attentive, professional. Room was lofty, modern and clean. Beautiful view and great location. Very nice pool with natural light, kids love it, and nice dry sauna! Very much appreciated the convenience of the microwave and the staff proactively offered late check-out for free which is a distinctive feature I truly appreciate especially with small kids. Loved the Nespresso machine.

I liked everything. For continuous improvement, suggest adding gluten free and vegan options to the breakfast buffet, and oatmeal. I did not have a kettle in my room yet tea was offered. The water in the pool was a tiny cold.
