Hotel du Nord

The staff was friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions. The room, though small, was adequate for two people. Our bathroom had a vanity-type sink, allowing space for toiletries. One "perk" we discovered was that the hotel offers free bus passes for stays of three days or longer. The #1 Bus stops a half block from the front door and goes to tourist areas-- a great savings over a taxi!

We knew ahead of time that there was no elevator, but the climb to the third floor became challenging after a while. Breakfast was "served" in a paper bag, also something we knew before we arrived. It included a pre-packaged blueberry or carrot muffin, a juice box, an apple, and a small package of cheese. It was adequate but repetitive. The window air conditioner was noisy and blocked our ability to close the curtains, a situation solved by cooling the room early and opening the window before night time.

The staff were friendly and helpful. There is coffee/hot water machine in the foyer free of charge 24/7, plus a swimming pool (I did not used but was asked if I wanted to) There is a Grab Bag breakfast included, plus a large dining area with some kitchen facilities, all very nice. They offer suitcase storage if you arrived really early like we did. There are buys stops right by the hotel the number 1 bus takes you into the main area for the old tower and shops. However, we took a map and the young girl on the desk marked out a really good route and we decided to walk both ways. Took approx 30 minutes each way. Anyone getting a taxi from the cruise terminal they are way over charging, and asking fir cash. The hotel ordered us a taxi to leave it came in minutes and same distance was under half the cost. If you are coming form the UK the proper metered taxi fares are very reasonable.

I could not find anything to dislike.

I thought the room was perfect. I felt like I was having a great boutique hotel experience. It was cute, big enough, and a great comfortable bed. I love the take away breakfast. That worked so much better than having to go sit down in a room and find things to eat. It was perfect. I found the staff great, particularly the person that was there when I checked in. She was just so nice and accommodating. She put my bags away safely so I could spend the day wondering about without having to worry about the luggage. I felt right away if this was the right choice for me. Another great part for me was that the city bikes that you can rent had a docking station less than five minute walk away from the hotel. So I can whip down to wherever I wanted and get back without having to worry about walking, finding a cab, spending money on Uber etc. I loved that.

It was great. So I don't really have anything. I thought the pool would be a bit warmer but that's not a big thing.

Cleanliness, friendly staff, close to amenities

When I booked the hotel it was with the understanding that it includes breakfast with actual pictures of the hotel restaurant, however, we were offerred breakfast in a bag. Not at all what I expected. We were disappointed. You should specify this big discrepancy so people know when booking.

Surprisingly affordable! Our room was on the lower level. It was comfortable, private, and very quiet. AC was working great. Perfect for us! We both slept soundly. Understood there was no pool when we booked. Had sweet little pool area on our level all to ourselves for a relaxing swim before bed. Had a walk in the low key neighbourhood too (didn't walk all the way to Old Quebec, found a nice spot for supper closer than that. Think it was called The Post Office?). Parking was easy, which means the world to me. Overall very satisfied with our visit.

Was worried when arriving that it seemed quite humid on the lower level. There was a bit of a musty smell. Got the AC going and all was well. The surprise saltwater pool did leave us both with red and stinging eyes for a brief period afterwards. Do not think the location is particularly well-staffed. Was also nervous about getting coffee and breakfast. The boxed breakfast turned out to be just fine and the self-serve coffee machine had lots of options. Cappuccino to start the day was a real treat!

We had a great time at the hotel. The staff was helpful, and the room was cozy and clean.

It was good value for the price. The rooms were clean and it looked like the hotel had been freshened up somewhat recently. We liked that coffee was available at all times. There really isn't a restaurant close to the hotel for dinner. Everything closes up quite early. I like that there were surveillance cameras in the parking areas.

The "breakfast" was very disappointing. It consisted of a drink box, a piece of cheese, a pre-packaged muffin and an apple and came in a paper bag which we had to collect from a cart in the reception area.

-the pool is cold and slippery on the borders, environment is very nice but didn’t use it much - the room needs a few little details like hooks inside the bathroom for towels, shelves for personal stuff inside bathroom, a broom and dust pan to clean after the kids (as there is no cleaning room service during your stay) - we used the breakfast more like snacks for the day

Very good surprise upon arrival: - Bus lines leading to the centre are nearby, and you can also be there in less than a hour walk - Grocery stores nearby - Welcoming staff and possibility to put luggage in storage - Size of the room - Cleanliness - Air conditioning - Fridge in the room - Calm - Small but simple breakfast - Quite cheap : good value for money if you compare with other hotels in QC

Breakfast is very simple and could be better, yet it has the merit to exist. You can still use the fridge to make a better thing by yourself.

The building itself represents Quebec city itself. There's a little bit of everything. There's a resto, a gym, a pool and even a little resto connexed to it. Good place to stay if you're a skier and any sports because right in front of the hotel you have a LaTulippe which is a Quebec chain Sport goods store. Love the fact that breakfast is in little bags.

There wasn't an elevator... Well, we didn't see one. The room was tight to say the least, My measurements are 40 32 45 and that bathroom was... tight! LOL It made of laugh but if we would have been obese, it's another ballpark. I'm sure they must have more spacious rooms. (I hope)
