Ubad Retreat, A Local Family Run Hotel

Amazing in every aspect. The staff was amazing and the rooms were the cleanest we have encountered in Bali. There is daily room cleaning, free water, a ketel, ... The hotels restaurant serves a wide range of breakfast options, but you can also some here for other meals. We really connected with the staff and even extended our stay for a day. Note that the accommodation also offers free shuttle service to center of Ubud or you can also rent a scooter at the property.

The staff were wonderful and the pools were great . Our rooms were lovely and it was great value for what we paid.

The taxi drivers harassed the driver we hired. I totally understand why the village wants us to use local taxis but they charge nearly 4x more than a hired driver so as a tourist it does not make economic sense

It's like living in a luxury room in-between a tropical jungle, it's so relaxing that I didn't even mind staying a whole day inside. 2 pools, top quality comfortable bed, good breakfast, the staff is super friendly. Super relaxing in a beautiful place. One of the best places I stayed.

The rooms are clean, spacious and have that real Bali vibe. Aircon was great, pool right outside the rooms was lovely. The staff were so lovely. It is a bit of a drive to the centre and although they have a shuttle, we ended up getting taxis also as we were with 9 people. It’s great value for money.

Maybe just that it’s a bit further away from the centre. Not a deal breaker for us.

Our stay has been a delight! The whole Retreat is beautiful. The lobby looks really homey and the rooms are private and all have wonderful views in the big garden and the pools! There even is a Yoga Hut in the middle of the garden. There is a whole range of different breakfasts you can choose from and every single one is delicious! But the best part is the family running this whole business. Really sweet, kind and friendly people you can always go to if you need anything. They gave us a shuttle to town every single day and recommended some things you can do around town or have lunch at. We left a part of our hearts at Ubad Retreat and felt like home there. We would definitely come back!

The staff are lovely, so inviting, and extremely helpful; They treated us like family, and arranged for us to have a motorbike during our stay. There were 2 large relatively clean swimming pools, the rooms were well supplied with a fridge and well functioning AC, hot shower and comfortable bed and pillows (yay!), they supply water daily, and there is a restaurant on site open all day. They also provide an extremely generous and delicious continental breakfast with many options and fruit with each one! There are also some really cute social cats and a dog (who keeps to himself) on property! :)

The only downside I would mention is that the location is a bit far from main streets, and no online apps are permitted in this area, so you have to rent a motorbike/ pay higher Taxi fees/ walk 30 mins to other western restaurants. This being said we loved the peacefulness of this property!! ❤️

The place is well designed, rooms are beautiful, pathways, gardens and pools all lovely and peaceful. I really miss it! Best value for money for sure! The cafe serves the best breakfast included, warm helpful staff, they have happy hour too. I appreciated that it is outside of town, not crowded and the spaces are really pleasant and beautiful. They offer shuttle service to center of Ubud 4 times a day at 3 hour intervals. PUTU"S massage nearby is the best massage I've ever had, I love him and his wife. They can do single or 2 at a time. Sweet family compond I loved visiting them. I highly recommend visiting The Pyramid's of Chi, Ancient Sound Healing and other offerings and great food, all reasonably priced.

Internet wasn't always strong, depending I think on how many guests were online or maybe it was my computer and using a VPN that could drop connection. There wasn't any other place to walk to for meals although there was a high end hotel behind, easy to get to that I did not try. Sometimes had food delivered from Coconut Organic cafe, not using app but firectly, very good simple menu.

I thoroughly loved my time at Ubad Retreat. It was exactly what I was looking for; quiet (being 3km outside Ubud centre) and the opportunity to be immersed in Balinese culture. I was blown away by the community and heart of the local village. Gus, and his staff, are fantastic. It really does feel like a family. All services and amenities are great, including a shuttle service into Ubud, running four times a day. Gus assisted with helping me source activities and advised places I can visit in Bali based on my personality and personal interests. A total gem of a place, I will definitely stay again.

We thought that the staff at the property were so lovely and kind such as Rian, Bella and Linda. We were always taken care of so well by all staff who treated us like family. The rooms and pool area and gardens were also so nice and beautiful. Additionally, there were so many cute kitties such as one mama cat and her babies who we befriended. HOT TIP There is a great massage place run by couple nearby called Putu’s Massage - about 100 meter down the road you can see the sign on a corner street Best one in Bali and we will come back for this !

There wasn’t anything we disliked.

Lovely hotel just outside Ubud in the countryside away from the hustle in town. Organised shuttle into town 3 times a day if needed. I just hired a scooter and it's about 15 min drive through Ubud's community and culture. The family running this business are the most friendly people you will ever come across. I was very looked after with brekkie on my balcony and I can truly recommend staying at this beautiful sanctuary during your holiday.
