The setting of the hotel on the edge of its own lake is spectacular. We had a lake-view room and enjoyed sitting on the patio facing the lake and old ruined castle. The concierge was very helpful in giving us tips for touring the Ring of Kerry. The room service staff were helpful and pleasant

Our room was lacking in modern facilities, no air conditioning, extremely badly lit and dark. The bathroom was very outdated with a shower that only gave a strong burst of either freezing cold or boiling hot water. I did not enjoy the breakfast, although there’s a good choice. I found the food bland not tasty. I think this hotel is overpriced considering it’s poor facilities. In addition they put us in a separate wing very far from the main part of the building.

Spacious room, own patio, nice views and great location. Great staff.

No usb points Room is starting to look a bit tatty No aircon so had to leave patio door open all night Large and well equipped bathroom but shower was fixed and over 6ft high and no shower wand so very difficult not to get your hair wet. Dinner was very good but vegan options limited. Why ruin a nice table with a cheap scratched plastic water jug. Alexander was exceptional. Breakfast was odd. You can self serve the cold food but not the hot. The toast was cheap sliced bread and came out long before the eggs so was cold. No vegan butter.

Loved the locations. Amazing views. Excellent service as well.

The dining room is not big enough for everyone at breakfast so once full you get relegated to another space which isn’t as good. Feels a bit second class.

The rooms were large and very comfortable. My room had 2 beds, 1 twin and 1 king. There was a love seat, coffee table, desk and small table with 2 chairs, plus a small fridge. The closet had the ironing board and iron, hairdryer and plenty of hangers and a fan. They granted my request for a room with a lake view. The breakfast was a wonderful buffet with everything you could ask for. We ate in the Bistro that evening and the food was very good. The location was perfect for touring the Muckross house area and town. It was raining that night so we just stayed in the hotel. Had it not been raining, there were hiking trails at the lake and it would have been lovely to stroll around. This was a very grand hotel.

There was nothing I didn't like, except for the rain, but you are in Ireland! Not sure if this hotel would have been suitable for families with young children.

This is a hotel in the grand style. The lobby and common rooms bespeak a bygone area of luxury and one can imagine guests walking about in formal attire. On certain days there is a pianist in the large foyer separating the dining rooms from the bar/pub, and its a great time for a cocktail. In the evenings there is often a guitar performer in the pub anteroom performing both traditional Irish melodies and up to date standards. The views from our room were stellar, looking out on the lake and the old ruins of a former estate home. The breakfasts were nothing short of splendid with just about anything you could ask for.

If you travel to the Lake Hotel in summer, note that the rooms are not air conditioned. Opening the windows are night invites some of the pesky things that like to nibble at your legs, but we did open the window at the far end of the room and kept the curtain closed, and didn't have a problem. Note that some of the rooms are near the outdoor whirlpool tub, which occasionally makes slurping sounds during the night (only a problem if you are a very light sleeper - if you are, make a note on your booking request that you want to be located far from the whirlpool...the place is fairly large so shouldn't be a problem).

What a view! Comfy beds, good food in the restaurant and great breakfasts. Staff were amazing and super helpful. Bar was lovely and had live music both nights we were there.

Being an older building it wasn’t best prepped for the heat during the summer - but staff did leave an air conditioner in the room, and lots of water on hand. Prices in the hotel and bar are a little steep especially since the hotel is out of the town a bit so going elsewhere may not be an easy task for some - but also appreciate that there has been a lot of price increases across board so maybe it’s standard across hotels at present.

Beautiful hotel, ambiance, comfortable and classy feel. Room very pretty and decorated nicely. Beds very comfortable.

We had a room very close to doors next to the bar. There was music both nights we were there and it was loud in the room. We might have been able to block it out with ear plugs. However, the "guests" upstairs apparently had children with either ill manned parents or they were unsupervised. Either way, it was obnoxious. From the sounds of it, they were running around the room and jumping on the beds until late. I did call the front desk about it, but it took a while for the noise to cease. It was also very noisy in the hall. So, it was the noisiest room we have spent in Ireland. Also, the hotel staff seemed pretty snobby. Not friendly at all like other hotels in Ireland.

The staff and facilties were amazing. It was great that they could organize tours at short notice. The food in the bar restaurant was very good and reasonably priced.

There was no aircon. It was a top floor room and extremly hot and stuffy. Would be good to install aicons in these rooms and some fly screens so that guests can keep the windows open with lights on. Not sure if that was the best experience. Otherwise, everything was excellent in the hotel. Just a suggestion, given the bar is open.late, look into serving, dessert, tea , coffee after 9pm so guests can hang around there and extend their evening after a tour or dinner outside. Just a suggestion

Fabulous hotel set in gorgeous grounds, with beautiful walks around the hotel and nearby. The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast had plenty of choice to suit all tastes and expectations. The staff were warm, polite, friendly and professional. A short walk to the town centre (15 mins stroll)

There is nothing of great consequence that stands out that I didn't like just perhaps a little more attention to detail with the dusting of the rooms, the back's of the doors, in particular the back of the bathroom door. This will not in any way deter me from returning to this beautiful hotel.

Amazing hotel with wonderful view on the lake. The room was big, clean and we had a balcony with lake view. Hotel has all needed facilities. Hotel is very well located, not far away from Killarney but very calm. We really have the impression to be in the Killarney National Park as it’s very calm and we could even see doe near the lake. Hotel is very charming inside and outside.

Kids are not really welcome and not even allowed to go to the main restaurant so we had to have the diner in the bar/restaurant (which was very good) instead of the main restaurant that we were looking for.
