Capital O Mimi Del Mar, Playa del Carmen

I stayed in room 208 and loved waking up to a beautiful view of the beach and the ocean. Having a large private deck was wonderful. They even bought me a hammock!

The hotel is dated. Hasnt had any updates since it was built decades ago. Just a warning to others, great location right on the beach, but you need to walk over the sand to get to it. Keep that in mind when trying to find it. Take 4th St to the beach and go right.

We loved this hotel - simple, Mexican style, practical, had everything we needed. Don't expect 5 star and don't be too critical about small things and you won't be disappointed. Amazing location right on the beach and also just a few minutes away from the main walking streets (e.g., Fifth Avenue). Beware that to access the hotel entrance, you need to carry your luggage a little bit in the sand. For us this was not a problem - as we love the beach. On arrival, we were greeted by a really kind gentleman who speaks Spanish (good to brush up on your Spanish before going to Mexico anyway) and was very helpful and caring throughout the whole time. We had a room on the 1st floor with amazing view of the sea. The WIFI in our room was a bit weak - but again, we were there to enjoy the beach and disconnect from everyday life so was not an issue. If you want to do work from there, you'll probably need to find a different solution. I've seen some other reviews about the bar next door - it is true that on some days it was loud when we went to sleep. Having ear plugs with you is a good idea. But on other days, we just joined the party :) The staff next door is also great and very friendly. Great to be able to meet locals and enjoy dancing in the sand by the sea :) Thank you once again Mimi staff!! We hope to be back soon :) Take care.

Great location, staff friendly & helpful, great A/C, all rooms ocean & pool view, only steps to the beach and 5th ave. It's an old diamond in the rough however; if they put money into it the prices will go up but they should supply items for drinking & eating to make use of mini fridge & coffee pot. Ferry to Cozumel 5 minute walk. Noise did not bother me from bar next door but I was at the back & use good earplugs. No seaweed smell when clean up done, plus beach is kept very clean. I'm staying there again next year with several family members.

Wifi weak at times. No kitchenette like photos show for standard room there's mini fridge & coffee pot (bring your own cup) would've been nice to know prior.

Such a lovely place!! We came for 10 days and extended our stay to another 10. This little hotel was just perfect for us. Right on the beach, spotless clean, very friendly staff ( our special thanks to Ivan, he was very friendly and helpful, and he made our stay very comfortable) We loved the little kitchen, because we cooked for ourselves, and having a meal on a balcony was really special. The bed was very comfortable, and everything was very clean. The bar next door is loud, but in a while we stopped noticing it. But this area was the city is vibrant and loud, it is downtown. We also was amazed buy the cleanness of the beach, each morning lots of people were cleaning, brushing, we were very grateful for this people, they were doing amazing job. Each day at sunrise there were groups of people exercising, great chance to improve your health and fitness levels. We will definitely be back!!!

The location was perfect. it was right on the beach and they provided beach chairs for free. Best value in town. We knew there wouldnt be parking so we paid for a spot at a lot a few blocks away. The night before our flight we changed to street parking which is free after 10pm. Playa Del Mar was a much better place to stay than Cancun. It was safe, near a lot of neat shops, plenty of evening entertainment/dance clubs, authentic restaurants - mexican, thai, japanese, all within walking distance.

Wifi signal was weak in our 3rd floor room. the sand you collect from the beach will come with you and stay on the your room’s floor.

Breakfast was delicious 😋. Room was very clean and the location can't be beat. We have stayed here for a number of years now & the staff make us feel like family!!!!

The only minor complaint would be the noise that comes from the soundset business next door -- not loud on weekdays, but boom boom boom until 2:00 a.m. on weekends. However the Mimi del Mar has no control over that business!!!!

The location right next to the ADO Bus station and the heart of the town. The hotel has access to the beach but there isn't that much sand so it's not the best beach in the area. We left our backpacks there after the check out without any problem and we did the check in later and went all well.

The room wasn't the one in the photos with stove and stuff. The beach in front of the hotel wasn't very good. But overall I think that's a good value for what you get.

Really good place location etc, rooms where clean ac was working well beds everything clean and tidy including staff, really loved this place the view and that is located right off the ferry to Cozumel and in the 5th Avenue strip. Transportation pretty convenient you can take the bus from airport and also back there is taxi share options which is pretty good prices. Massages, service and property was pretty awesome so I will definitely go back again.

I messaged the hotel days before my arrival and got only one answer to all my questions and messages I sent, didn’t like that and I even messaged in Spanish not sure if they don’t use this app, also WiFi wasn’t really working in my room but I understand mine was all the way at the end of the property. The beach front chairs and little restaurant gets a bit crowded with the day pass visitors or locals which can be a little bit inconvenient when high season or busy days also they don’t mention that the restaurant closes at certain time in the afternoon and you won’t have any option to buy water or food just to go outside the hotel around the corner which is the 5th Avenue strip just keep that in mind, and it could be a bit dark getting from the strip to the hotel so always be alert.

Location is beachfront, awesome! Dated hotel with rustic feeling in Mexican decor. Spacious room with good ac and kitchenette equipped with small refrigerator and coffee maker. We went to Walmart and bought coffee, milk, pastries, drinks and snacks. We loved coffee time every morning after sunrise. Small pool but very refreshing! Beachfront bar had excellent drinks and delicious food! We enjoyed fish n shrimp tacos for lunch once and breakfast 3 times! I recommend the beef machaca, the pancakes and the huevos rancheros! Bar staff provide friendly and excellent service. Housekeeping is friendly and and very helpful, thank you Monica! Hotel provides beach towels, lounge chairs and umbrellas for guests. Also room has a safe box and provides convenient laundry service at low cost.

The only drawback is to find the entrance to the hotel. The only access is thru the beach, you must go 1 block down from 5ta. Avenida on 1st st.(Hard Rock Cafe)turn right at the beach and it’s there. I think they need a wood deck to make it easy to walk with baggage to the hotel entrance.

The location is excellent. if you like walking downtown and going around the town amongst the people , that’s your place ! Nothing fancy Very quaint and simple . We enjoyed the breakfast right on the beach . Our waiters were awesome ! You have to pay cash for the breakfast ! Remember that ! They also have chairs by the beach with umbrellas for the guests renting . There is also a club right by the hotel that plays all night so bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise . This is Mexico guys ! I hope you don’t go on vacation to sleep lol !

We didn’t mind walking in the sand to get to the lobby of the hotel , so again be prepared .
