Vila Gale Serra da Estrela

I was absolutely captivated by the hotel's prime location in the heart of Serra Da Estrela, but what stood out the most was the exceptional service. A special shoutout to Monica, Ruben, Daniel, and all the wonderful staff who made my stay unforgettable.

I found it hard to leave this serene and beautiful hotel in Manteigas; it's almost too addictive! Be warned, the tranquility and stunning views may make you want to extend your stay.

Modern hotel with excellent facilities. Good size comfortable rooms with plenty of hanging space. Sound proofing was good giving an undisturbed nights sleep. Air conditioning worked well and was near silent. Bed was very comfy as were the pillows. The spa facilities were excellent. Three pools in total as well as gym, sauna and steam room. All very clean and well maintained. The restaurant was very good. There was a good selection on the menu and the food was excellent and well priced. Very good value compared to UK hotels. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The level of service was excellent. I had a fantastic time here. I used it as a base whilst exploring the Serra da Estrela which is just a short drive away from here. The hotel even has a large garage where I was able to park my motorcycle. Even my bike was well looked after! A fantastic hotel and hope to visit again.

The room was really good,spacious with a nice view of the mountain. All staff was incredibly, very friendly yet professional

Hot water was intermittent. Outside jacuzzi was lukewarm not hot. Overall was nice however it is a shame that everything needs an appointment even though it is emptly. We didn't have any available slot for gym just for the spa in the day after however once we entered the spa we noticed that during entire time (45min) gym was empty..and after all the expectation about the spa the pool was lukewarm ..

The property is beautiful, super modern and the views are breathtaking, specially the pool area, inside the woods, it’s just amazing and peaceful. The breakfast is fantastic and it has a lot of variety. We had dinner at the restaurant and lunch by the pool, and both were very good. The beds and pillows are super comfortable and the room is very nice as well. We loved it and would totally recommend! Looking forward for the next time :)

Although it has the most amazing view, the jacuzzi is often occupied by families and kids that are always jumping and splashing around so it’s difficult to relax, so I thing there should be a age limit or something that would help with that. The room had no toiletries other than a shower cap which was a little disappointing :(

The breakfast was good although the selection of items was not as many as in other comparable hotels we stayed in. The staff were professional, helpful and full of local knowledge. They went out of their way to help. The hotel offered us a an hour in the heated swimming pool area with the steam room and sauna. The rooms were good, and the bathrooms nice. The carpark was good, indoor and safe. Very good cleaning regime, The hotel and grounds were spotless. The evening meal was very nice and freshly made. Loved the outside pool and garden areas. The surrounding national park is amazing. Based on this stay I will certainly look out for the Vila Gale brand and book with them in future and hope to return the Vila Gale Manteigas

It would have been nice if the room have had tea and coffee making facilities. They only had limited toiletries. I requested a female hygiene product (sanitary towels) in an emergency but was told that they only had a shaving kit. The bathroom had body wash and shampoo. No lotion or any other item that can be given on request. As the hotel is quite far from the local village shop. (you will need to drive there or take a taxi) it seems unusual that a hotel of this calibre didn't have a stock of useful items. Other hotels had Shaving kits, Tooth paste, soaps, lotions, sanitary towels and other items that people could call up reception for if they needed it which meant there were no wasted products. Everything else was as it should be.

Attentive staff, always willing to help and making sure that our small kids were welcome everywhere. The indoor pool was great. The food. Everything was great really.

The only disappointing part is how far the hotel is from Serra da Estrela - Torre. The most direct road is closed since September 2022 so you have to go through a much longer road. This is not the hotel’s responsibility of course, but it was the only negative aspect of our trip.

Very beautiful place and very good hotel. Swimming pools, lounge zones, rooms, restaurant. Everything is great.

For a hotel with sweeming pools it would be better to have place where it would be possible to dry sweeming clothes.

The staff (Monica we love you), the facilities (24 h outdoor Jacuzzi, outdoor pool, indoor Sauna & pool) , nice rooms and a spectacular view wherever you look. Nice hikes bearby, accessible by car or walking.

we didn't love the food but it's much better than what you can get in the town nearby

Amazing location, very peaceful romantic place

Concerning the breakfast, personaly I prefer that the eggs and bacon are already cooked and placed out for the guests to take, but I can also understand that in low season it's normal to cook it by request.

the room, the included interior parking, the place and surroundings. I imagine there are some nice walks to take in the surrounding area but the hotel should have maps to help the guests.

the smell of bleach in the bathroom. we understand the need of special cleaning these days, but there are other products available.
