Hostal Cervelo

I go to Madrid frequently and I’ve often walked by the Hostal Cervelo, which is well and centrally located on Calle Atocha. So on this last-minute solo trip I stayed here and it turned out to be great. It’s modestly priced but has everything you need. The rooms are not huge but they’re certainly not tiny, like some hostales, and they are simple but modern and well equipped…good desk, useful closet/drawers, plenty of lighting and outlets for charging, and a nice TV. While it’s on a noisy, busy street, the whole place was quiet and clean, and the staff was super pleasant, efficient and helpful. Wifi was good. And on top of that, the breakfast selection was very good! But there are lots of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood if you want to go out for breakfast, and certainly plenty of choices for the rest of your meals.

This Hostal is in the heart of Madrid, 7 minutes walk to Plaza Mayor, 7 minutes walk to Puerta del Sol, 16 minutes walk to Palacio Real. In addion, it is also close to Atocha Renfe (railway station) - 15 minutes walk - so you can easily travel to Toledo, Escorial, Segovia etc. The room was cleaned every single day - including sunday! The bathroom had everything we needed, including hair dryer and clean towels, soap, but not shampoo. In the room we had an empty mini fridge where we put drinks. Also, the room had a climate device which we could use how we liked, free of extra costs.

The double bed is pretty small - this was not the problem. For me, the mattress was uncomfortable, so I did not get so much sleep as I hoped so. Another minus was the breakfast. We chose to eat breakfast provided by the Hostal only one time (lucky us). The breakfast is eaten in a place near the Hostal (Cafe Martinez), but the salami was very dry (looked old), the omlet was without any taste and floury and the only bread served was toast bread, not fresh buns. In other words I would avoid the breakfast which is served at another place. I would recommend to the administration to change the place for breakfast. All in one, although the breakfast was not tasty, the value for money was very good.

The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, couldn't have asked for nicer. The whole place was exceptionally clean and tidy. Breakfast was perfectly adaquate and good value. Although our room was on the ground floor, there was virtually no street noise. The location couldn't be better, access to 3 metro stations no more than 5 minutes walk away. Less than 10 mins walk to Plaza Major and Gran Via. About 15 mins mins walk to the three biggest museums/art galleries. We'll definitely stay again on our next trip to Madrid. Thank you.

Minor details really which didn't in any way compromise our stay. Although there was no problem getting extra towels, there were only towels for one person when we arrived and no bathmat. The was a broken bedside light, it still worked but hung at a very weird angle.

It’s the situation then reality is higher than expectations. Cervelo is perfectly good located. Windows of our room looked at back yard so we wasn’t bothered any street noise. The room and it’s furnishings were new and clean. We didn’t have any problems with services including our late chack-in. And the breacfast was quite diverse.

The onty thing that confused us was the room size 13m. We realised it is not confortable for 2 adults and 1 kid. But you have information about it in Booking’s descripthion. So can make decision by yourself is it OK for you.

The location was absolutely perfect. Easy access to everywhere. Spotlessly clean, good breakfast and rooms very warm and it was really cold outside. very good value for money.

The room we had was very small and realised we should have reserved an upgraded room as they are advertised as having soundproofing. Ours certainly didn’t because you could here next door talking and even the voices on their mobile as well as snoring during the night.

I had a lovely day at this hotel! It was extremely clean and the staff so polite and helpful. The breakfast was very good and the room service as well. But the best thing of all is the location of the hotel. We used public transport only to go to the airport everything else was in walking distance. I strongly recommend this hotel and I will be coming back!

Excellent location had booked a double room was given an apartment which was excellent.Facilities very clean and well equipped. Excellent cleaning of room and replacement of towels.Breakfast good choice of quality food. Very helpful friendly staff especially gentleman who booked us in and was also on reception as we left. Will recommend to friends and family

I'm rating this stablishment considering it is a "hostal". Being a "hostal", I think it is a great place to stay: perfectly located (you can walk to many interesting places in Madrid!), good staff, and a very good breakfast. Rooms are a bit tight, but this is perfectly fine if you plan to be outside most of the day (and once more, this is not a "hotel", but a "hostal").

Clean, centrally located

No parking, which is normal for Madrid center; there was no view from our room, we observed a wall of the building in front super close to our window.

Super friendly and helpful staff members at the reception. When he saw we were backpackers he upgraded our hotelroom to a flatroom for free. He probably figured we might wanna use the washingmachine there due to our backpacking tour outfit. The flat was awesome and the general stay a delight.
