Hotel Madrid Chamartín, Affiliated by Meliá

The location is just across from the Chamartín train station which was an easy walk over with luggage and kids (if you have a lot of baggage you’ll walk a bit further to take the escalators.) We paid for included breakfast and it was well worth it. It couldn’t have been lovelier. My husband and I are on high protein diets and had an easy time, they had the fixings for mimosas, different juices, high quality coffee, hot foods and a large selection of pastries, breads, meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereal, and our children’s favorite a “Nutella-like” pump dispenser with little glass bowls to fill. The pool was large and clean. Our beds were comfortable and the rooms and bathrooms were clean. We liked the layout of the family rooms with bunk-beds. Our son got sick, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating.

The air conditioner made noise but did not seem to actually cool the room (901). We didn’t mention it as we were only there for one night and I suspect it’s our American expectations. It was cool enough for Europeans. The dial did go to 0 Celsius but it stopped working around 22 degrees. There is no room service and the dinner in the restaurant does not begin until 8pm (culturally appropriate but inconvenient for us with kids- if you eat earlier know you’ll need other arrangements.) The pool hours were noon-9pm - which is just something to know.

Very close to Chamartín Train Station, it’s literally across the road from it. Make sure your Google maps is working to get directions to it - it’s a 2 minute walk from the station. Excellent breakfast- great variety of food and good quality. The hotel was quiet, clean, safe, stored luggage, had a cafe and bar always open. From International Airport take the Renfe train, the C1 or C10 from Platform 1. Chamartín is only 3 stops away on this train.

The lift was broken and did not stop at level 10. Guess where my room was - level 10!! When checking out I had to drag my suitcase up several steps to get to reception for checkout, because the only lift working ended up down on the bottom floor. Not good! Management should get the lift fixed! There is no signage on the top of the building so when you walk out of the train station you cannot see which building to walk towards. All the buildings look the same. A large sign would help a lot for those guests walking from the station.

This was a seriously well organised hotel. First Sunday morning breakfast was packed out and a small queue formed. The staff kept stocking breakfast and clearing tables at amazing rates. They were never overwhelmed. Staffing levels were high and efficient. The hot and cold breakfast buffet was superb and very diverse. Overall, staff were very responsive and supportive. We knew there was a metro ride to the centre of Madrid but the hotels there were way out of our affordability criteria. Because it is immediately next to the station, access to all parts of Madrid was easy on a 4 day tourist travel card. No hesitation in staying there again. Doubt many hotels could match it.

We got locked out of our own bathroom. We still can't work out how it was even possible. The hotel responded and fixed it within 30 minutes. I had hoped the swimming pool might still have been in season.

The staff were super nice and accommodating. The breakfast spread is great with a lot of options. The hotel is located in the North of the city, but is within a 2 minute walk from a metro station and the train station. A train to the city centre would take you less than 20 minutes. There's also a taxi rank less than 100m from the hotel entrance. The room are spacious and cleaned daily. The cost to have a late checkout was very reasonable.

The building on the outside doesn't do justice to the facilities in the inside.

I really loved this hotel which looks a bit odd from the outside, but inside it is amazing. Also, it might seem far from city center, but the trains and metro is just 3 minutes walk, right in front of the hotel, so it was easy to travel, and we did travel even outside Madrid. Loved the big rooms with view. Loved the breakfast! Probably the best I have had in hotels around Europe, diverse and fresh. It is very quite and very big. Simply loved it. And it is truly worth the money.

The room was great. Very comfortable and nicely appointed. The location was readily accessible to Chamartin station and there were several restaurants to which we could walk for dinner. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. If one is traveling and needing to overnight in Madrid before/ after a train to the airport connection. This place is great.

The only thing I did not like was that the hotel was difficult to get to because of the construction/ renovation going on at Chamartin station.

Some factors made me select this property, including being close to transportation facilities, a huge supermarket, and accessibility to the railway stations for traveling to other cities

The only thing was it might be a bit weak because one of the beds had some issues that made you not sleep well because there was an inclination to leave, and you felt that you were going to fall during sleep

The breakfast was good. I enjoyed the options. It was a good meal before heading back on my transcontinental flight. The train station made it convenient to get around Madrid and to the Airport.

I think that lunch buffet was a little overpriced. The breakfast buffet was great, but in future I would have done better with just a bocadillo for lunch.

Check was easy, located very close to the train station and to anything you need (restaurants, grocery, farmacia, etc.). Room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. Shower was hot with good water pressure. Breakfast was very good, lots of variety and was available for quite a few hours.

This was a perfect hotel stay for my one night. If I was staying longer, I probably would prefer to be closer to the center of the city for sightseeing. But that was not my main purpose.

You can't beat this location, directly across the street from Chamartín Train station and it is for this reason we crashed here for less than 12 hours recently. The front desk staff upgraded our room, which was very kind of them so we had a bigger than normal European hotel room (ie room to walk around). The bed was very comfortable, the room and bathroom clean, the wifi adequate. It was convenient to have a restaurant on site, open until 11 pm. We did not eat breakfast there.

Not enough lighting in the room, nor outlets. Otherwise, it was just fine.
