We arrived from our flight at 1 a.m. The night receptionist was the friendliest I've met for a long time. Spotlessly clean room and pristine bathroom. Both a very good size. Fridge and a safe in the room. Reception staff who checked us out were very friendly too. Breakfast was OK - good selection of fresh fruit. Decent coffee. For the location, this hotel is very good value. Best to get an internally facing room as the street outside can be noisy at all hours. We would return, but only if guaranteed an internal room. (I speak from direct experience. I recently had a room in nearby Hotel Liabeny facing Calle de la Abada. People shouting all night. Had to change rooms in the middle of the night to get some sleep.)

We paid €153 for B&B. Maybe charge €160 and upgrade the breakfast?

Beautiful building in great location just off Gran Via. Lots of shops, bars & restaurants. Within very easy reach of hop on hop off bus

The menu for the cafeteria is posted daily in the Lifts. The opening hours are displayed in the Foyer. We entered by the door.in the Hotel Foyer and took two vacant seats. It looks like a nice place and was not very busy. We were quickly met by a rather unfriendly Waiter who informed us we should not have sat down without asking him. We explained we were guests of the Hotel and he informed us it is a separate ownership. He then told us it was OK to sit down and walked off. We made the decision to leave via the door into the Hotel as felt so unwelcome and embarrassed.

The room was a good size. The pushed together twin beds were comfortable (though we asked for a double). The bathroom was a good size. Everywhere was clean. It had a (tiny) fridge. There was a safe in the room. The breakfast was just continental, but good enough. The location was very central and there was cafe/bar attached to the hotel. The staff were all nice. There was a lift.

The wardrobe was small with awkward doors and only 5 coat hangers. The room was uncomfortably hot until I worked how to switch off the heating, though there didn't seem to be a way to control it, despite the wall switches. There was no view (bar a fire escape!). The TV had no English channels, though you could select "original" English for some programes and films.

Location, breakfast, view from the room and nearby car park. Fantastic cheap restaurant (“Restaurant Puerto Rico”) 50m from Hotel reception.

It was confusing where to park / the process of getting the discount. Fortunately, having read other reviews, we went to check in first (so we had the correct stamp for reduced carpark). Arriving in the evening made driving to the hotel very difficult because the streets were so busy & had to drive along pedestrian zone streets. No kettle - so filled metal water bottles at breakfast

The location. The comfortable lobby and the hotels traditional decor. The large bedroom/bathroom and wardrobe space. The staff in the breakfast room were friendly and the tables cleared right away and the food replenished quickly. Housekeeping were friendly, quick and efficient.

Reception staff were a bit stand offish, perhaps I should have tried a few more Spanish words as they may have thought me rude. Unfortunately there were building works and a bottle bank nearby and even though we were on the 4th floor, they could still disturb you.Luckily ,we both had ear plugs.

A nice hotel right at the heart of Madrid. It is our 4th or 5th stay at II Castillas in Madrid as the hotel is right in the center of the city, close to Metro station, all the main sightseeing and shopping streets. The room we got this time was just awesome, very spacious, with many windows (there was a window even in the bathroom), super clean! Not that much variety at breakfast especially if you are a vegan, but still you will have good food and coffee to start your day with, People at the Reception were super friendly, check-in /check-out process is very quick, were always open to help with any question or issue. Will definitely stay at this hotel when we are next in Madrid

Our room was great. It was on the top floor with a balcony. The hotel is in perfect location, close to everything. The restaurant was nice as well.

The breakfast was awful, one of the worst I had ever witnessed. Very little options and the breakfast room is underground. The breakfast personell are very rude and the whole breakfast experience is like boarding school. :(

Súper clean rooms, wood floors where mopped every day. Housekeeping was prompt, thorough and fast. Location was great. Comfortable beds and bedding. Very functional room with good storage space, towel racks, comfortable desk and chair.

Breakfast was very basic for prices I would stay again but not choose to prepay breakfast. More fruits and vegetables would make it better. It would be nice if there was a kettle in the room for making instant coffee or brewing tea.

Our first time in Madrid. Staff did all they could to make us feel at home, including being generous with my first attempts to use the Spanish I'd been learning. Room was lovely. Beds very comfy. Bathroom was nice and clean. A lift was available which was helpful for our arrival and departure with suitcases. The breakfast was downstairs in the basement restaurant which was livening. Self service with staff on hand re supplying and attending to tables where needed. There were many breakfast options and options for those with allergies. Restaurant/bar attached to ground floor lobby was very good, for tapas, a main meal or a drink or coffee.

A couple of mornings there didn't seem to be hot water in our bathroom which we assumed was a supply problem.

The room was small but had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. It was immaculately clean, and very warm. We opted for the breakfast which was plentiful with a good selection from yoghurt and fruit to cooked items as well as pastries and cereal, would definitely recommend. The location was great, walking distance to many bars restaurants and shopping, also very close to metro, so easy access to all areas and places of interest.

Nothing, good value.
