Hotel Simon

This was the most expensive place we stayed during our month in Spain. In general, Seville is more expensive, and I wanted us to have a place close to the historic neighborhood, so firstly I enjoyed staying in a really classy place for a change! When we arrived we were given a room which was not the room I reserved, and we complained and even looked for another place to stay - with no luck, The city was full. However, Hotel Simon then offered us other perks, like an electric kettle for the room which, together with the small fridge, gave us freedom to drink what we liked when we wanted. Then two days later they did give us the room I'd reserved, and even moved our things in while we were off on an early-morning trip to Donana. They were also helpful with maps and information, and getting us a taxi the morning we left.

I wish that when we complained about the room we had instantly asked to see other rooms, then we wouldn't have had to wait 2 days for the room I wanted - at the back, a larger room, a better bath and shower arrangement. But perhaps we also should have been more insistent rather than running right out to look for another hotel. But it still was not nice to check us into a different room, especially since I had previously corresponded with them to assure the room I wanted.

The location of this Hotel was perfect, within walking distance of all the sites, ie cathedral and restaurants etc. The Hotel itself was originally a palatial home and retained many of the old features, chandeliers, Spanish tiles and a courtyard as you walked into the Lobby with a central fountain. The rooms also reflected this and were comfortable but old and of different sizes, so our friends had a larger room than ours, but then we did not expect to spend much time in the room. The ensuite bathroom was adequate. We had air-conditioning, very much needed, of course, in Seville, as it was only middle of May and the temperature was 35 degrees the two days we were there. There are elevators to the different floors. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was 8 euros pp, it was a Continental breakfast with sliced Ham and cheese, yogurts, rolls, and some pastries, etc. There was no parking at the Hotel but our friends were directed to a parking garage about a 7 minute walk away. We arrived by coach to the Plaza Armas and the taxi from there was about 5 euros to the Hotel. We would stay here again when visiting Seville, as the location was great and would thoroughly recommend if you are not looking for a luxurious stay with all amenities.

Absolutely fantastic place! The staff were amazing and welcoming and actually hotel itself is literally around the corner from everything so walking everywhere the hotel is incredibly unique and historical. Note if you want extremely modern and a TV and all kinds of gadgets this is not for you! If you however love original features and an absolute bargain and lovely staff then it's definitely for you! We couldn't have been happier 😁

Not much to not like - as I say just note it's a very old building and historical hotel , not a bad thing in my book but some may not like the authenticity.

It was clean and big. Good bed and two size pillows. Very historical cool building. Nice staff and safe area. Std Spanish breakfast for a cost, better off finding a non Spanish breakfast in the area. Close to the top attractions like palace and cathedral . The plaza espana was a tad further 15 min walk, but really not bad. 24 hrs reception was nice.

There is an old musty smell I'm assuming bcs it's an old building with old plumbing. You can definitely tell as you enter the room every time you return.. But turning on the ac and balcony door to air out solves the problem quickly and it never bothered us.

The location is absolutely superb. A two minute walk and you are at the foot of the magnificent Cathedral of Seville. From there everything that Seville has to offer, radiates outward. Restaurants were everywhere. A cafe that served all kinds of delicious breakfast, lunch and all day food, drinks, and desserts at very reasonable prices, was 1 minute away, The service was excellent, the room was very clean and the bed was super comfy. We totally enjoyed our three night stay at Hotel Simon and would definitely stay there again if we return to this amazing city.

Location was perfect . The hotel had some lovely pieces of furniture and also so many beautiful tiles. Very traditional. The beds were vey comfortable and we had a quiet room. The reception staff were always friendly and pleasant.

The breakfast was ok, but if we stayed again we would probably book room only. The beautiful covered courtyard lacked atmosphere. Perhaps some background music would have helped.Would have been nice to be able to get a coffee and sit and relax there.

Excellent location near all the main sites. Huge room. Charming, tiled breakfast room. Beautiful entrance and courtyard in typical Andalusian style. Could turn the air-conditioning in the room up to be very cool which was welcome in 40 degree temperatures.

Some parts of the room were very dark. Not enough lights. Breakfast room was a little on the warm side. There was air-conditioning but it was a large open space. Limited selection at breakfast.

Great location, just a block down from the cathedral. Staff were pleasant, friendly and helped us with our questions. Room had lovely, high ceilings and felt comfortably large. Shower was great, with a wide rain-head.

Expensive (but seems to be in line with the rest of Seville) Room was right on the ground level of a busy street so was noisy in the mornings. But attempts were made with the drapes to stop the light coming in and dampened a little of the noise.

Perfect location for Sevilla! Near the main attractions but also distant enough for a quiet sleep. The cathedral is a 2 minute walk, Plaza de España is about a 10-15 minute walk. The hotel it self is beautiful with a lovely courtyard! If you are there during the heat, I recommend picking up some gelato & enjoy it back in the hotel courtyard. So much cooler! My room was small & simple, but not surprising since I was there for one night. It was clean & safe perfect for a solo traveler. And they let me leave my suitcase at reception since I arrived to Sevilla early in the morning.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Simon. The hotel is one of the (if not the) oldest in Seville, which means that it is beautiful with a lovely central courtyard which serves as a lobby, decorated with tiles and a small fountain. The location is perfect, a few metres from the Cathedral in a quiet side-street and very convenient. It is very close to all attractions and sites. The rooms are large and clean, with air conditioning and large bathrooms. The personnel could not be kinder or more helpful. I would recommend this place wholeheartedly and would definitely return. Added bonus : no TV! Love it.
