Elegant Hotel

The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were good although the dinner menu was limited. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds (with pool) were beautiful, and the distant views were very scenic. We noticed couples coming to this location to have wedding photos taken due to the attractiveness of the grounds.

Before arriving in Sri Lanka, I sent two messages to the hotel asking for transportation information, but I received no replies. The hotel is located some distance from Kandy on a tiny road in a rather remote location. The owner was very helpful once we arrived on site.

The owner built this property and his pride is reflected in the attitude and care taken by staff, which is fantastic. For example, we we asked about posting postcards, and they just took them to the nearest post office for us by tuk tuk. Food is simple but beautifully prepared, and dinner is accompanied by local musicians. We stayed in the Presidential suite which has views of both sunrise and sunset in the hill country. We both had a massage here which was excellent and good value. The setting is relaxing but away from the bustle of Kandy, although close enough for a day tour of this interesting city which the hotel can arrange at a good price.

The hotel were a little difficult to communicate with before we arrived, and this was partly because we needed to make a last minute change to our dates. All was resolved very satisfactorily though.

Comfortable spacious room and friendly staff. Food is tasty and most important with beautiful view. Another hidden gem! Surrounded by nature and again we saw alot of fireflies at the big trees around us. If we are to come back, i will definitely stay here for more nights.

The hotel is located quite inside and before reaching there, there is a very steep road. My gosh.. i guess is almost 70degree slope. We thought we were lost at first then called to reception and they told us to use another road. What an adventure 😂 At night was so dark we couldnt see a thing, however, it was a surprise the view during the day was so beautiful. Worth the adventure.

The view was amazing! This place is great to relax and be a bit further away from the city. You’re basically in the jungle which is an amazing feeling. The service was really great, the people were really really nice. The food was good, you can get english breakfast but also typical food from Sri Lanka like Dal or Curry.

Being in the jungle was nice but it’s really far away from the city Kandy (by Taxi around 25 Minutes), so you always need a Taxi to go somewhere. The food choices for vegetarian and vegan were really slim but they tried to make different things for us, which was nice.

My stay at Elegant Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. This serene oasis nestled amidst the hills offers a quiet and meditative atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding. The scenery is breathtaking, overlooking picturesque hills that add a serene touch to the experience. The rooms are a true standout—clean, spacious, and remarkably well-maintained, surpassing the standards set by larger hotels. The washrooms are equally pristine and spacious, maintaining the high standards of cleanliness throughout the hotel. The service was impeccable. From the seamless check-in to the gracious check-out, the staff wore smiles and provided top-notch customer service throughout. The culinary experience was a delight. The attention to detail in catering to individual preferences, including spice levels, showcased their commitment to guest satisfaction. The garden was meticulously tended, adding to the hotel's charm. The medium-sized pool was a pleasant addition, but what truly stood out were the verandas in each room—ideal spots to witness stunning sunsets and unwind. Elegant Hotel comes with my highest recommendation. It's a haven where tranquility meets luxury—a place I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking a remarkable getaway.

- The restaurant prices are very high compared to anywhere else we have eaten in Sri Lanka over the course of one month (eg 3500 for rice and curry which usually would be max 1,500-2,000) - There were a lot of flies and a couple of wasps in the room when we arrived - would suggest they do a last look in bedrooms before letting people check in - Note for future guests - bring earplugs, unfortunately the neighbours have dogs who bark throughout the night. Not the fault of the hotel obviously

I traveled with my family in Sri Lanka for 14 days and almost every day we slept in a different hotel. This hotel completely charmed us all. I would stay there for more than one night. I recommend Elegant hotel to everyone who is going to Kandy,although is further from the center. We were blown away by the beautiful garden with the swimming pool, the great dinner with musicians at the table, but above all the beautiful building in the colonial style. I found my second home here, as we liked it here. We are confident that we will return here for more days.

Hospitality is great; staff is very professional and always smiling. Hotel and rooms are very well maintained and EXTREMELY clean!! :) (which we really love it!) Hot water is being a problem in some hotels in sri lanka, but not in this hotel!! Wifi working very well. Lots of English channels on tv. We had ala carte for dinner which was very delicious. Tomato soup is excellent! Portions are very big and good for 2 person. Breakfast was also very delicious with combination of local tastes like roti and lentil, and international food like pancakes, eggs, fruit salads. Service at restaurant, is a 5-star service!! Thanks to entire team :) We did not swim due to weather but there is a cool pool with great view. Hotel has both east and west view so you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset (if weather allows!). Location is away from Kandy city which was a point for us to chose this hotel. But google maps giving not the best directions, your driver should call the hotel for best direction especially if you reaching there after dark (roads are very tight and thats 2way…)

This property is just stunning, has very spacious always clean rooms and breathtaking view. All staff were super professional and helpful. The service provided was exceptional, team were accommodating all our requests with big smile and five star hospitality. Big thanks to Ashoka who served us super delicious food and was always nearby to help us. Hotel has recommended 2 amazing drivers Chami and Michel, who were unbelievable professional and showed us around. These guys were making our days. Host Mr. Udaya was always around ready to assist and to welcome us every time we were coming back to the hotel. Elegant Hotel Team keep up your great job and thank you for making our stay memorable.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Definitely recommend to others. We stayed for 2 nights, wish we had more time to stay here. Our room was fantastic! Really spacious and a lovely big bed. We also had a prived terrace, and the accommodation have pleanty of terraces with lovely views (good for sunrice & sunset when its not so cloudy). The restaurant is nice aswell, they make good local food but also pretty good western food! The prices are reasonable (good enough for us to stay here). Book a massage, that 1 hour relaxation is so nice. We liked that it is not a very big hotel, so its not crowded at all. Enough room at the pool to relaxt. The staff is super friendly, are willing to help you with anything. No request is to much. In less words: its worth to stay here :-) thank you for everything!

The accommodation is a bit far from the city centre. We liked that, because we wanted to relax and avoid crowded places. If you want to go somewhere, you need a ride. But if you want to relax you actually can stay the whole time in the hotel. And the staff will help you to arrange anything you like (outside the hotel aswell) for decent prices The only feedback we have is that the staff is really fast with cleaning your table when eating. Sometimes we weren’t done eating yet. But still the service here was the best we experienced so far here in Sri Lanka!
