Altstadt Hotel Krone Luzern

I very much appreciated the early check-in. I only sent a message requesting the facility to store my luggage early...but they could and did let me enter my room an hour early. It was Room 50 on the 5th floor...with roof terrace...a surprise and absolutely wonderful...for me anyway. NB The lift only goes as far as the 4th floor. Thoroughly enjoyable hotel. Good breakfasts. To walk to this hotel from the station DO NOT CROSS ANY BRIDGE untill you are practically opposite the hotel and then enter the square from the left. This will minimise cobblestone drag on your suitcase. In fact I hardly noticed it. If you cross on the main highway you will suffer!! The streets of the old town are 80% cobbles. This short riverside walk to the hotel from the train station is glorious. You get to see many of the most alluring sights before even arrriving at the hotel.

Nothing at all of significance.

It was spacious and close to many things. Everything was clean and the pillows and blankets were so comfy!

The walk from the train station isn’t long but it might seem like it when you are dragging a luggage around on cobblestone. Don’t take the stairs! Go around towards the left of the bridge at the next inside ally way and you can head straight up a short slope upwards and the hotel is right at the water fountain.

The hotel is in the heart of the old town, close to the train and bus stations. There are extra and casual restaurants, shops and a Saturday market on the beach. Transport is easy and varied. Swiss Travel Pass is a good option for multi-day trips to Switzerland. The hotel staff is friendly and the breakfast selection is quite adequate (eggs, ham, salmon, yoghurt, muesli, fruit, coffee and pastries)

The hotel is in a nice area, the offer breakfast for 19chf, they have cleaning services and even a minibar. Beds are comfortable, good pair of towels, nice tv to entertain yourself. In the first floor they have a small living with computer you can use and a microwave. 👍 They "keep luggage" but it is left out at the hotel lobby so it's better if you just go to the train station and pay for a locker. Better pay than to be sorry later in case you lose something.

I have no complaints.

The location, the bed, the bathroom and coffee machine is great.

There is no hot water boiler, no basic toilet amenities in the room, you have to come down to the reception and ask for it. From my point of view, for this rank of hotel price, these should be offered without asking.

Beautiful old apartment overlooking one of the most beautiful square in Lucern. We got the top private room and it had a big balcony overlooking the Musegg Wall and towers. Comfortable stay and good location.

Bathroom was dated, might need to do an upgrade.

The room is spacious. The interior design looks elegant. The bathroom is spacious. The TV is large. Close to boutiques and cafes. Close to the Bridge.

Since I stayed at first floor, the noise is pretty bad coming from the street. I can hear each time passerby talking and cars moving. The only time its calm is for a few hours before twilight. The alley lead to the hotel is rocky. My husband and I were exhausted having to drag our luggages from the main street as there is no bus access to the hotel. Unless you take a taxi which costs about 18CHF.

Only small fan, thry brought a 2nd fan A large fan would be much better It was HOT & HUMID More bath storage, only a tiny shelf over sink. There are options that slide between vexposed plumbing Bedroom has small closet, with a few shelves there are hooks for backpacks etcc

Location was excellent. We picked up the car from Zurich and went to Como, Thun, Lauterbrunnen etc. When we were here in Luzern, we don't need the car. We took the bus since they provided the Luzern card. It was very convenient. We paid for the daily parking. When we leave for Zurich for the last night, they have the car ready for us. Our room is kind of small and so is the bathroom. But both functions. We did not hear much street noise at night. Weather was on the cool side in Mid May. That was a plus. I don't believe there is air conditioning which can be a problem in the summer.

Rooms are the small side.

WE wanted to stay in the center of Lucerne, namely the Altstadt. This was perfect. It allowed our grandsons to explore the city and come back as they pleased. We loved being so near the Lake and the river. There was no AC but we opened the windows and even though they were experiencing warm weather by evening the temperature had dropped and the room was quite comfortable. The Local Bakery that is located directly next to the hotel made for a wonderful way to start nthe day with pastries and coffee at a reasonable price. The square where the hotel is located is quite nice.

I think everything was as I had hoped for when I choose to make this booking. See above This being my fourth visit to Lucerne I new it would be a wonderful place for my son and his boys to experience Switzerland
