Hotel Astoria

Everything is great about this hotel, I didn't give it a 10 just because of 1 member of its staff at the front desk. TERRIBLE PERSON. Yet, besides this nuisance, the hotel is a great experience. LAU the manager is simply great. A results driven man with spirit of service. Thanks LAU!

One lady at the front desk. Rude, no spirit of service, should really consider changing roles honestly.... Besides being rude, not explaining anything and disqualifying my doubts about the extra 100CHF charge upon arrival which later I was attentively and politely explained by LAU the manager we had a second situation with her because, when we needed help with the heating she didn't send nobody to help us in more than 1 hour. Tired of waiting we left the building and came back at night. Imagine having problems with the heating and a sour and rude lady doesn't want to help you... SHAME ON HER.

Spacious room, comfortable bed, very clean, good hot breakfast, great Thai restaurant (separate entrance), comfortable room temperature, 2 bottles of water (free of charge), coffee machine, modern building, very efficient check-in/out, exceptionally attentive and nice staff, central location ( 10 min walking to the train station, 10 -12 min across the pedestrian bridge to the Old Town, parking (underground garage with a lift access).

Possibly as a consequence of a modern lay-out of my room the bathroom had no door, which is obviously a non-issue when you travel alone; parking was CHF 45 per night

This hotel is wonderfully located & the corner suite room my mother & I had was actually better than what was pictured. It was modern, classy & had a beautiful panoramic view. The staff - most especially Lazlo who went above & beyond whenever I had a question or concern. Both he & his colleague Luca were very sweet & helpful to us. Luca went out of his way to personally deliver us some of their bottled sparkling water, when I called to request some. He is also very handsome ladies & so are most of the staff - just FYI 😉

The breakfast was standard but nothing special & the cleaning staff seemed to be in a rush whilst cleaning our room, leaving once a plastic draw string from the trash liners behind, leaving shampoo & soaps on our desk table rather than in our bathroom & not providing enough clean towels. There was a minor incident where the cleaner had left a wet towel from our sink area on top of my open suitcase which caused the top layer of my clothes to bet wet. Luca as mentioned was extremely apologetic & came with the requested water & to apologize personally. His sweet demeanor & handsome smile instantly made it a pleasurable experience.

Nice welcome received on arrival. Front desk Luca & Johann were hospitable filling info getting around points that might be of interest. Super helpful. Rooms were right sufficient in space, bright and airy. Huge bathroom space I had. Location was easy close to central train station and wooden bridge. Restaurant Mekong linked to the hotel served a decent close authentic flair.

On 2 nights wanted to check out the rooftop bar for drinks. Nice decor, Lights and music were on. No noticeable patrons as I walked in and doesn't seem anyone was working behind the bar. Till I saw a team at balcony, was told sounding hostile they are closed. Not sure what were their opening hours, but I guess the least they could put on some sign info at entrance.

First of all don’t travel with a dog or drive a car here. They charged 40 francs a day for a special needs dog and 45 francs per day for our car!, The breakfast was good. Bathroom had no door! We got an upgrade on the room to a corner room with all windows. The problem was that if you opened the curtains there was an office building that could see in the room. Also the regular rooms were A third bigger that our upgraded room. Hotel was in a good area.

The hotel has many modern facilities and decoration, location is just perfect, the employees are very friendly and helpful. The room has a great big bed and has a lot of space, the bathroom is also very nice and big. I just find weird to have a coffee main the bathroom area but wasn't that bad. All in all is a great hotel and I can just recommend!

Breakfast is not good enough for a 4 stars hotel, there was just one sort of cheese and I asked myself is this real?! I missed some cheese selection, salmon, and brown sugar.

the rooms are nice and clean. the bathrooms have a strong water supply.

The hotel is located very close to the train station and was an easy walk for us. The room we were given was spacious, clean, and quiet and had everything we needed. Our only complaint is that one of us prefers a bathroom with a door on it; the bathroom in our room was partitioned off from the bedroom by clouded glass which might be fine for most people. The self serve breakfast was great with lots of variety and located in a very quiet room away from the quite crowded and noisy tour group breakfast room. The front desk staff members that we spoke with were really kind and helpful. We also had dinner at the very luxurious Thai Garden restaurant. Food and service was amazing, and the space is beautifully decorated.

Great location close to attractions and central station a lot of restaurants and grocery around,friendly staff ,clean rooms,comfortable beds and basic breakfast

I didn’t like the toilet’s design we got two twin rooms one with private bathroom the other without door no privacy at all and the picture of toilet in booking page was different than what I got

Close to the bus and train station, walking distance to the city center, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice and modern room, coffee machine, hand cleansing gel as a nice detail.

Room was very small, head of the bed by the door was quite uncomfortable, wardrobe in bathroom is not convenient due to the humidity, no big mirror, window view to the messy courtyard was quite unpleasant, no tea bags.
