Boutique Hotel Spedition

A soft spot for the special, Hotel Spedition is located in Thun, 30 km from Interlaken and 60 km from Gstaad. Bern-Belp Airport is 20 km from the accommodation. The railway station, the old town, including the castle and the lake, are within a few minutes' walk. The hotel enjoys a quiet location with soundproofed windows. There is a bicycle station and a cash machine right next to the accommodation. The Rex car park below can be used at a reduced rate (CHF 18.-/24H). The lift access leads directly in front of the hotel. The listed former Gerberkäse AG shipping building (built in 1890) was completely renovated in 2016. The building was given an aesthetic, ultra-modern and stylish interior without losing the charm of the old building (wooden beams). We (3 people) booked a single room and a double corner room (next to each other) and were very well served and informed in advance. Thank you Adrian Tschanz. The rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with a flat-screen cable TV, a Samsung tablet and free Wi-Fi, a desk with various sockets, and a safe. The comfortable beds were equipped with cosy blankets. Unfortunately, only large pillows were available (you have to get used to the stiff neck). The bathrooms are spacious and have a small and rain shower, free toiletries and a hairdryer. The very tasty breakfast with regional specialities (a lot of organic) and airy croissants is not the biggest buffet, but it is included in the room rate and absolutely sufficient. This makes the start of the day a joy. The extremely friendly and obliging staff also contribute to this. Thanks to the all team! The price-performance ratio is right for Switzerland. We can definitely recommend the Hotel Spedition and will be happy to come back.

It was in a quiet area but only 10 minutes walk from the train station and town centre. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast excellent with plenty of choice. The staff were lovely both at breakfast and evening meal. We were made to feel very welcome.

It would have been useful to have a tea and coffee maker in the room as we were at the top of the hotel. There was a coffee maker on the 1st floor but it meant you had to carry hot drinks up the stairs. There were only 2 bottles of water on arrival. I would suggest 2 bottles in the room every day.

The rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast is very good, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The location is close to the center of the city, and the train station can be reached within 10 minutes. There are two supermarkets just outside the hotel for snacks or sandwiches. The hotel's pricing is fair and not too expensive.

The room walls are thin, which means you may hear when the neighboring rooms are watching TV or having louder conversations. The hotel restaurant serves only special cuisine at higher price levels, which may not fit everyone's needs.

Location was fantastic, rooms were well thought out and very comfortable. Had dinner twice and food was amazing as was breakfast. Smoked salmon at breaky was some of the best I’ve had. There was a coffee machine on one of the landings you could help yourself to at any time which was a bonus. We went on to stay at a smaller town around the lake, but would have stayed longer here if we could have. Highly recommend. Town of Thun is beautiful and well worth a visit.

Nothing to dislike.

Great hotel, modern facilities but in keeping decor/design with the building/wooden structure. Good breakfast choice, lovely toiletries provided, good air con and great dinner at the hotel restaurant. Friendly staff and free tea/ coffee machine available. 100% would recommend.

The location and room was very nice. The breakfasts were excellent.

Unfortunately when we arrived the hotel had made an error on our books by and we had no room. However they managed to get us a room in Interrlaken (20km away) and paid for our taxi . It was unfortunate and once we did get to the Spediton the next day it was excellent. The hotel in Interlakken was not the same quality. However, a good recovery .

Attractively styled interior with a true boutique feel (only 15 rooms). Staff are good. There is a good restaurant and bar which seems popular with non-residents. Good air-conditioning. Comfortable beds.

The attic rooms (classed as junior suites) are nice enough but the room posts and trusses intrude into the room significantly, to the point where you have to constantly be careful not to hit your head. A trip to the bathroom after lights out is a serious hazard - I cracked my head at least twice. For this reason I don’t recommend the junior suites.

A nice hotel with its specific character, what French would call ‘un hotel charmant’

It would have been good if there was a luggage room where guest could leave there luggage at check out, in case they would like to enjoy comfortably Thun during the rest of the day.

The hotel has a perfect location at the historical part of the city, next to the shopping area and restaurants. Each room of the hotel has its own theme and decoration. Spacious and comfortable bathroom. Excellent breakfast with fresh and local products. We highly recommend the hotel restaurant which specializes at meat dishes.

The location was excellent- about 200 meters from the main high street, with shops and restaurants. However it was in a quiet area. Quality of furnishing etc was great, stylish place. Breakfast was continental and good quality. Amazing coffee. We arrived by train and it was only a short walk of around 10 minutes. Tip. Try Schwäbis River Pool for a fun activity.
