Poet's Recall Motel

We’ve stayed at Poet’s before and it again did not disappoint. Fortunately I booked well in advance as the motel was full (likewise on our return trip and we missed out.) Selecting the bigger room was well worth it and such a relief at the end of driving 12-hours from the Tweed to Gundi! Host Ronnie’s follow-up phone call was a personal and much appreciated touch, with just 20-kilometres to go on our long journey. A warm country welcome and Ronnie and her hubby were happy to suggest local eateries still open after 8pm. Thank you!

Very slight .. but would’ve been ideal if car parking was dedicated to/or near our reserved room but we still got to park close.

Breakfast and dinnernot provided but liked the location as we could walk to the local hotel and get a good meal.As well the Niagrah Cafe around the corner was open at 8am where we had a delicious breakfast before we continued on our journey The town was quaint and charming. Loved the surroundings.

Think it would have been good if breakfast had been provided and that the restaurant was open at night for the tourists and locals. Otherwise no complaints.

Good quiet location if you kept your windows closed to mute the highway trucks in the distance. The motel is not on the highway though. Close to nice park and big supermarket. Beds were very clean and comfortable. Supply of fresh milk was appreciated. Plenty of hot water for showers and good mini kitchen with microwave.

Some stairs to upstairs rooms need replacing as the timber seems dodgy on some steps. Our room was too small for the extra bed. This meant that the table and chairs were pressed up against the wardrobe. Very cramped. OK for 2 people for overnight stay.

We stayed twice at Poet’s Recall Motel: on the way to the Central Coast and on the way back. It was absolutely great to plunge into the motel’s wonderful pool at +37 C! The room was also great. It has been fully renovated recently, including bathroom. Mattresses were very comfortable, not too soft. New air conditioner did a fantastic job cooling down our room and was very quiet. Fridge worked great and was quiet too. Location of the motel deserves a compliment as well. It’s walking distance to a park, a playground, the town centre with all the shops and cafes. Finally, museums and lookouts are a short drive from the motel.

Good price for one night en route from Melbourne to Sydney. Location easy to reach quickly from freeway and very quick walk or drive into main street which was charming. Good Pizza Shop and the fabulous Niagara Cafe was great for brekky. Had time to look at old station, old mill and the old trestle way across floodplain. Ronni our host was very nice. Bed was comfy and although an 80s-90s motel our room was very clean and functional. Remember to shut window before bed as some travellers leave motel carpark very early so you might hear cars.

For a good price overnight stay we liked it. No problems.

The owners are lovely. We arrived on a very hot day to find the room had been pre cooled with the Air Con. What a delight. Excellent advise on where to eat. Fresh milk provided on check in. The missus and daughter loved the provided shortbread and the pool was a big hit. I like the supplied towels for the pool, so you could keep the room ones for the shower. They provided a perfect place for my car and trailer. If they have space I intend to stay there again soon.

The floor creaks in places, however I understand that this happens with older buildings. Hardly an issue.

Very comfortable room with tea/coffee/kettle/microwave! Clean bath and toilet facilities. Papers and shampoo samples for use. TV. Air-conditioner. Welcome was warm and polite on arrival. Guided to car space.

Being upstairs meant the security lights brought light into the room. Good to have security lights but maybe a darker curtain across window would help. Otherwise all contributed to. Restful night after a long drive.

Most importantly a very clean room and comfortable bed. Given that this was my return trip and stopping enroute from Sydney to Melbourne, a good nights sleep was important. And that’s exactly what was provided. I also really appreciate toilet bar soap in the bathroom. NOT the liquid soaps that dribble through my fingers before I can have a good scrub!

All was beyond criticism

Friendly reception, quiet room, very clean, comfortable bed. Quiet aircon. Biscuits were a welcome treat with a cuppa after our drive. Great location in town, everything within walking distance.

Nothing major just a small thing which can be easily provided i.e. there is a microwave to heat food, however there were no large plates, bowls, forks or large spoons provided. Small plates teaspoons and knives were available

When I booked I specifically asked for a ground floor room and i didn't want a shower over a bath as my husband has limited mobility. The motel rang me before we arrived and said they had not been given that information earlier and the room they allocated was more expensive ($20). I agreed to pay the extra but was disappointed that Booking.com had not notified the motel. The room we had was a disability unit and we were happy with it.
