A great welcome before being shown to our rooms. Our room was very spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. The shower was hot and water pressure was excellent. Our breakfast was complimentary (which was a nice surprise) and just what we needed. Hot coffee, cereal, fresh juice and raisin toast. A great start to the day.

To be honest we really didn’t have any issue with anything. We were able to explore the hotel and it was wonderful to see all the antique furniture and the house’s features. The gardens looked a little tired and my sister and I would have loved to be able to get in and pull out some weeds etc. Just a little thing which didn’t detract in any way from our stay. Thank You.

Absolutely loved the house and furnishings. My husband especially was intrigued by the history of Stannum house and its construction. The Manager was very friendly and very helpful. Whilst we did not utilize the facility, I do like the idea of the communal kitchenette/lounge area. Is there a ghost? Early on Monday morning, I awoke to a light flashing on. It flashed three times. And then nothing for around 5 minutes and then the two bedside floor lights turned on!! Eerie but intriguing so I am thinking a friendly ghost!!!

Unfortunately, our bed creaked excessively whenever we turned over. The mattress, however, was very comfortable. And would have loved to had the opportunity to have dinner in the dining room. However, totally understand how difficult it is in this current labour market to secure staff, especially chefs! The manager recommended the Commercial Hotel and we had a lovely meal there.

As I enjoy all things of a historical nature, I loved Stannum House, the grandeur, the antique furnishings, fittings and decor. The staff are very welcoming and efficient and the general atmosphere is pleasant and friendly.

I fear that further degradation may occur if the room rates are not elevated. It's apparent that maintenance is required. The tariff is very modest and this grand home deserves a bit more TLC. The weedy and half dead sticks in what has clearly been a beautiful garden entry, was disappointing and made me feel sad.

The historic building, built in 1888, decorated with antiques and replicas from the era. Beautiful old home. Staff were lovely, particularly the gentleman on in the evenings/check in. We had one of the few rooms with ensuite and it was perfect for our family (2A&2C). Room had TV which I hadn’t expected, plenty of heating and electric blankets (it reached minus 5 overnight), shared area to make tea/coffee, shared guest fridge etc. Really friendly vibe.

continental breakfast was very basic but as included in price it was really a bonus.

This is an extraordinary property! Built in 1888, it was designed on a grand scale to serve as Australia's Government House if Tenterfield, shortlisted as a possible national capital after Federation, was chosen. Our high-ceilinged and beautifully decorated room was absolutely huge, with a king bed, two comfortable lounge chairs set in front of an enormous TV, a desk and an antique dresser, as well as a wardrobe and a large bathroom. And every other room we could see into was of the same size (although some utilised a shared bathroom) and the formal rooms on the ground floor were stately and filled with beautiful antique furniture. The Continental breakfast provided in the ground-floor restaurant was certainly adequate. Perhaps the owners are still recovering from the Covid turndown and therefore offering very low rates, but we were astonished at what we were being offered for the rate we paid. A truly memorable experience.

I loved everything about Stannum House ..its beautiful!!! It oozes old world charm, has really friendly staff, is super affordable and close to town ( walking distance to everything). Allowed to walk up to roof which was wonderful .....best view over whole of town :) Will stay here every time I come to Tenterfield for sure. Beautiful.

Drive at front of house has pot-holes- hard with little car to navigate these. Restaurant not open - would have loved to have eaten there but not a big deal really.

Stannum house is an amazing historical building full of charm built in 1888 and magnificently restored in the 1990's. The reception staff was very friendly and staff gave us a tour of the building and explained its history. We had the Napoleon room and our boys (young adults) the Julius Cesar room. The rooms are huge, with high ceiling and amazingly furnished and decorated. We felt we were in a museum. The free continental breakfast was fine, it included a variety of breads, jam , butter, honey, etc as well as a variety of cereals and juice, milk, coffee, chocolate drink, etc. Breakfast is a self-serve service in the dining room from 7:30 to 9:30.

Due to staff shortage the restaurant and the bar were closed so had to have dinner in a restaurant close by. We would have enjoyed eating in the main dining room but it was not a major issue.

The architecture and decoration are exquisite, it is worth staying in, and the staff are kind and friendly. Beautiful and sophisticated decoration is a great feature

I booked a room with 3 beds on the website and it looked beautiful but ended up checking in in a different room which was disappointing. In addition, the door requires two hands to open, which is very difficult to use. The other tenants next door also have difficulty opening and closing the door, and there will always be loud noises in the middle of the night

Complimentary continental breakfast is provided, good choice, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk. Soon, the restaurant will be open again for lunch and dinner. My wife and I like it!

The old mansion could do with a bit of maintenance, the shower screen was a bit difficult to close properly. The place is frequented by elderly people, who enjoy the grandeur of this stately home; on this and previous visits, we did not see any youngsters. This makes it nice and quiet. A good place for grey nomads.

The historic nature of the house attracted us. It is great to be able to stay in a house with period furnishings and decor. The blend of old and new is very good. Breakfast is provided and was much appreciated. Loved the opportunity to wander and enjoy the photos and furniture.

The location is on a main road and the trucks are noisy. The bathroom facilities, albeit private and allocated to your room, are outside most rooms, but this is to be expected from historic buildings. Some rooms had individual facilities attached to rooms, but this was not clear on website. Check in is not welcoming as doors were locked and you had to contact manager by phone to let you in.
