Westport Woods Hotel & Spa

The location is perfect, between Westport town and the harbour. Within walking distance of both. The hotel itself is fine. Spa was a lovely treat!

Restaurant and food was basic. Top floor became very very warm.

Hotel itself was lovely, modern and cosy. Room was very spacious with a extra big bed very comfy. Staff were very friendly, mannerly and polite.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with our dinner on the Friday night, food was microwaved. Starters were OK. But I myself ordered the duck it was so tough I literally couldn't eat it, said on menu served with mash and veg, mash was cold, roast potatoe was like a sponge and i got no veg. My partner ordered the vegetarian pasta... It was some tortellini pasta with a few peppers and mushrooms. Didn't fill him at all. Then for dessert he ordered the chocolate and nut brownie... was no nuts in or nor a taste of nuts, I ordered the bailey's cheesecake again couldn't taste bailey's at all.. felt like I was eating biscuit and soft cheese. Recommend you get a new chef!

Didnt eat there as to be honest when we arrived there was no food available in bar, hence we ate elsewhere after that.

Location is good, easy access from the road and not too far from the centre. The rooms were comfy and spacious, with lovely views on either side of the hotel. The spa area was great with a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Food was delicious, both at dinner and breakfast.

I had requested a twin room, but they gave us a double room instead. They changed rooms immediately, but was a bit of a nasty hassle at first when arriving. At dinner, we had specifically asked about ingredients in one menu item due to my mum's allergies. We were assured there was no lemon juice in the sauce and ordered the food.. only to find a slice of lemon on top of the salad next to the food. Did not give much confidence on the kitchen staff.

Arrived down to join a queue which didn’t move very fast waited about between 10-15 minutes although in fairness to the kind lady taking us to our table she was extremely nice and friendly and kept us updated on progress ,so when we did get seated got our cereals then after a bit of time ordered our hot breakfast which took a little more time !!! But have to say when we got the fry it was delicious no complaints about the food at all

Just felt for the hotel to be so well established it should have serving breakfast to a large number of people mastered

The hotel performed extremely well, from the check in team to the bar, pool and breakfast teams, they all worked very hard to make our stay a very pleasant experience. One thing that stood out was that our room was serviced and beds dressed during our stay. Exceptional, given the number of hotels that are still using COVID to curtail or cease this activity. This is something all hotels need to get back too asap so customers feel valued!

The hotel struggles and lacks a modern feel. We were struck by the fact that parts of it felt really up to date, but parts of it didn’t. For instance the hotel room doors had a mixture of old fashioned room keys and more modern room card readers to gain entry. Despite this however, the feeling of cleanliness and keeping the hotel maintained to a high standard came shining through.

Excellent room space and cleanliness, with access to a cosy pool, steam room and sauna, luckily for us, as the weather wasn't great. The staff was welcoming and always happy to help during the whole staying.

A bit disappointed about the bar closing earlier than the pubs in town. We hoped to stay in the facility longer and enjoy a relaxing few days in the hotel. The breakfast was great on the first day, but terrible on the day after for no reason.

Staff were helpful and friendly

Hotel is not very modern. There were a lot of older people and families with young children not many couples or much life. The Orange juice at breakfast was not nice. There was no muesli or porridge this morning. There was no fresh fruit eg bananas at breakfast. Staff at breakfast were pleasant and service was quick. I was glad there was a bath rather than just a shower as we had climbed Croagh Patrick during our stay and had a lovely soak in the bath afterwards

Mix up when assigning the room but this was soon remedied. Heard patrons complaining about the musty smell on the ground floor. Overall though the staff were great and did the best they could. Personally, we had a good room, comfortable, leisure facilities were good also.

More signage to the reception if not taking the lift, can be confusing. Tables should be numbered to help staff when giving out breakfast.
