Hotel San Marco

Our stay at San Marco was more than we could have ever have wished for. Every single member of staff were exceptional, they were so friendly, helpful and just went above and beyond for us. All of the staff made our trip so comfortable and made us feel welcomed at all times, they truly are a credit to the hotel! Our hotel room was so clean and tidy and we were given fresh towels every single day which was lovely. The hotel is in the perfect spot to go and explore Lucca with just a five minute walk to the wall entrance. We loved our stay!

The pool area was the main reason we booked San Marco for our trip to Lucca and overall it was brilliant. The pool was always clean and relaxing. The only thing was there is only a small amount of sun beds to lay on throughout the day, there are lots of sun chairs but these are not the comfiest to sit on all day long.

This was truly the most welcoming hotel I have ever stayed in. Upon our arrival Inna jumped into action to help us get our car parked and Francesco put us into a lovely garden room location because we were staying for four nights. The hotel is nicely decorated and comfortable. Our room was a good size and a had a large bathroom. We had our own little garden area with two chairs for sunning plus a patio table with four chairs. Perfect for a late afternoon cocktail. It was our own little oasis. The pool and patio area is a great place to hang out and enjoy the beautiful weather. The breakfast dining area is large and the breakfast options were a much large offering then we found anywhere else in Italy. They have a limited dinner menu but after a long day of touring we were happy to stay in and enjoy dinner sitting out on the patio and chatting with the Inna and the other team members who were all very friendly and welcoming. They have full bar service which includes a house owned micro brewed beer and an exclusive wine offering. The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood setting and is a short walk to the old city of Lucca. They have parking available as part of the property making it easy to get in and out. The front desk team was helpful in planning our next day adventures. Honestly Francesco, Inna and the other staff members went above and beyond with customer service and made our stay at the Hotel San Marco one we will cherish forever.

The hotel is outside of gothic center, but it gives you a lot of more. So close to all amenities. The hotel is not so big but very comfortable with the size, great pool and amazing staff - Thank you Fabio!!! A lot of good advises. We parked the car in front of the hotel, no charge. Lucca is the great destination for people who are looking quite spot but close enough to the beach and slo great walking old town experience. Bikers - don’t forget to visit small towns at the hills.

We were with loud teenager daughter, a little bit too small double room with extra bed.

The staff were very welcoming on arrival and our room was ready to check in earlier which was greatly appreciated. There was a good choice for breakfast and the coffee was excellent. The waiting staff were very accommodating and friendly even though it was a very busy breakfast service. Very helpful information about day trips was given at the reception desk. The pool area was very relaxing with table service for drinks and snacks and the ambiance was created by excellent background music from a 80’s playlist.

The pool the garden and terrace were very relaxing after tourist central in Lucca. -10 minute walk for the calmness and delightful pool in the summer. The staff went out of their way when it was pouring rain and no taxi’s to take us to the train station. The desk manager drove one couple to the station and arranged for one of the dining room staff to take us to the station. Amazing service that is hard to find in the busy summer season. Thank-you to Francesco (manager) Fabio (who gave great local dinner tips) and a huge shout out to Adrianna( who drove us to the station).

Very friendly staff, everyone was helpful with dinner recommendations. But Ina was a standout and TERRIFIC! She helped us with EVERYTHING that we needed from restaurant recommendations to shopping and store ideas and suggestions on the grocery stores, all with maps and directions. Hotel Location was awesome, We enjoyed a lovely breakfast, Coffee was perfect.

We arrived during the heatwave and the air conditioning could have been better. A fan was provided, which helped. Room size was a bit smaller than I had imagined but lovely.

Everything! This hotel is a gem. Spotlessly clean, great facilities, fabulous breakfast choices, I am coeliac and there was plenty to choose from. The pool and garden are small but so so nice after a hot day and in the morning time so perfectly quiet. The rooms are modern, functional and well thought out. There is great air con. There lovely white fluffy bathrobes and slippers.I was here with my family and we just loved every moment. Although outside the walls, it is only a 10 minute walk to Via Fillungo which is a main street through Lucca.

The bike hire from the hotel is expensive. It would be great if you could hire them for a few days at a cheaper rate.

Location is excellent as this just a short walk or bike ride from the centre of Lucca. The room was clean and kept clean daily by the lovely staff. Breakfast was great with lots of options to suit all tastes - the restaurant team made us fresh coffee as soon as we sat down which was a nice touch. Pool and pool area was well kept with plenty of beds/chairs for guests to use to cool off in the scorching sunshine. Reception team and restaurant team were friendly and made us feel welcome from the get-go. It was so handy being able to rent the hotels bicycles as this made the trip into Lucca central much quicker!

If we had to find one area for improvement it would be the air con in the room which didn’t allow us to set it below 24 degrees - not a problem during the day as wasn’t in the room much at all but, for night time it would have been nice to turn it down a touch to get a good nights sleep. The reception team did try to aid us with getting the air con working smoother but still it didn’t work great.

Lovely hotel with garden and pool. The room was bright, comfortable and very clean. We have a good breakfast that was included in the room rate, excellent value for money. Every member of the team in the hotel was exceptional, really friendly and eager to help. We loved our stay, there was a great short cut to the walls and we had some amazing meals in restaurants recommended by the lovely guy on reception. This hotel exceeded our expectations.

Nothing really, but the sound proofing wasn’t the best.

Wonderful breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and spacious bedrooms. Nice outside pool area. Lucca is beautiful, we will definitely return!

Pool was a little smaller than anticipated and very warm (due to incredibly hot weather whilst we stayed there). More parasols needed please! 5/10 min walk to central Lucca which would have been no problem if it hadn’t been 37 degrees!
