Location convenient to Kalsa and Stazione Centrale. Staff was wonderful—friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice. The building had character.

It had the usual flaws of an old building. The retrofitted shower was very small and there wasn't enough shelf or counter space in the bathroom. Many stairs and no elevator. A series of doors and a gate, each with its own key and quirks. Wifi was a bit iffy at times, and electrical outlets weren’t always convenient. The entry level to the building was a mess, with construction going on. A good deal of street noise on Friday and Saturday night. In short, we appreciated the hotel, but it is not for people who require the conveniences of a modern chain hotel.

It felt we were staying in an authentic street room with balconies like the locals .. it was cool and very peaceful inside and we were able to park for free on the street outside. Claudio our host spoke good English and provided fresh pastries and coffee each morning. Very kind and friendly. This is a room within an elegant building - a museum of ancient tiles. We were never disturbed by visitors in this large building. The owners are refurbishing other parts but did not disturb us at all - we liked this little oasis in Palermo- it's 10 minutes walk from the 4 Points. 5 minutes from cool Bohemian quarter. Very central yet it was quiet.

Lovely accommodation. Palermo has wealth and poverty juxtaposed but we felt safe and welcome. The people were vibrant, multicultural, very hospital and passionate about visitors enjoying their best dishes. Every drink you order comes with generous snacks free of charge as standard. The White Wines are to die for, put aside your idea of white wine to date, those mountain botanicals are very special to Sicily.

The rooms were wonderfully decorated and really brought home to us the exceptional atmosphere and rich history that still exists in the old city center of Palermo. Our host was very accommodating and gave us excellent advice on dining out and best locations to visit. I had the impression that here was someone who was both gracious towards his guests, and proud of his city, and happy to share with visitors. Our breakfast was outstanding with both typical Sicilian specialties as well as more traditional options as well and excellent fruit and yogurt!

Too little time ... Booked 2 nights, better at least 3 or 4.

What makes this B&B so special is that it's an extension of the Museum of Maiolica on the floor below - you are literally surrounded by maiolica tiles dating from as early as the 15th century, which adorn the walls of each of the rooms. Claudio - the B&Bs English-speaking contact - was extremely communicative and helpful, serving us a delicious breakfast every morning, which really set us up for the day. The location in La Kalsa was ideal, proving an excellent base for exploring Palermo. I couldn't recommend Stanze al Genio highly enough.

Since it's an historical building, sound travels between rooms, but it was never a problem. Bring a pair of earplugs if you're sensitive to sound.

This place is a gem. We had a totally unique and uplifting stay in one of the four rooms here. Our room was beautiful! Surrounded by grids of gorgeous unique ceramic tiles. We had a small charming balcony and even 17th century frescoes in the bathroom. The whole place is immaculate, and cared for with love and attention. To fully appreciate the setting we recommend the fascinating tour of the Majorlica Museum, just a floor below — but feels very much like a continuation of pensione and visa versa. You really are staying in a museum. Great shower, linens, and AC. Perfectly located. Personal advice and attention. We found this experience so enjoyable and special that we rearranged our itinerary to return for another 4 days.

Great location to visit all the main attractions in Palermo and very near the train—just a 5 minute walk. The train is easy to use and gets you to the Palermo airport in just an hour. It’s a quiet road at night for a good sleep. Breakfast is lovely and the staff is so helpful with every need. Upstairs is an incredible museum of centuries old tile that is displayed on the walls of the owner’s home. He has been collecting this beautiful tile since he was 11 years old. Really worthwhile touring. Very near all the restaurants and shopping—everything is walkable—no need for car.

Behind an unassuming wooden door in the Kalsa district lies this beautiful gem of a BnB. The rooms are atop a tile museum and are artfully decorated. The room was big, had a balcony, and was impeccably clean. The staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. Claudio not only welcomed me on the first day, but I also gave a tour of the tile museum, made a wonderful breakfast every morning, and answered all questions on the museum, the displayed art and furniture, and what to do around town. Stay here - you won’t be disappointed. You can walk to many restaurants and the sea front in a couple of minutes. Relative to other hotels, this is in a quieter neighborhood. Only word of caution, you will need to climb two floors of stairs - if you need a place that is accessible this might be not for you.

This is a quaint hotel in Palermo, above a Museum of Tiles. (A tour is included in your stay, and you absolutely need to do this in order to appreciate the history and story of the tile work that you will see across Sicily!) Our room was very large by any standard with a comfortable bed, a clean bathroom with shower (lots of hot water), a view of a historical landmark from our little balcony, gorgeous tiles displayed on the walls - what more could one ask? Breakfast in the breakfast room was lovely - fruit, yogurt, a large selection of sweet and savoury pastries, and of course, cappuccino or espresso as well. Claudio greeted us when we arrived, gave us a map, some tips on what to visit, helped us with the bus schedule and served us breakfast in the morning. Not that we expect all of Sicily to "speak English" but he did! And we greatly appreciated that! The hotel itself is in an excellent location for visiting all of the Old Town on foot. We were out quite late at night and always felt safe in the streets. These were our first two nights in Sicily and we felt that we had fallen into that past. How wonderful! Thank you, Claudio, for being part of our adventure!

It was a unique experience to stay in a former palace with a museum dedicated to Maioliche tiles, which were on display throughout the whole building. Claudio was an impeccable host: attentive, cordial and informative throughout our stay. The breakfast was delicious and kept us going for a long time. We loved the location, near the train station as well as being in a really interesting neighbourhood. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily. We will be back! Grazie mille!
