Sangallo Palace

The Sangallo Palace is in a good location for Perugia being just metres away from a series of escalators that take you up into the centre of the city. It is also right next to the bus station which is useful if you are coming in from the airport or if you want to go on a day trip and you can guess the A bus down to the station or even to the Perugina chocolate factory. The rooms are comfortable and large and there is a fridge and a TV. The shower was huge and good. The breakfast in excellent with cooked options, cereal, croissants, cake, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, ham and salami. There is a small pool with jacuzzi that we enjoyed three times - you do need to wear a cap so bring one with you or buy one there. You need to ask for the key at reception. There is also a restaurant and bar and seating area.- The reception staff were helpful if you requested assistance. There are several green initiatives - some might not find the AC strong enough and you have to choose to have the fridge and TV on.

Having come from a small, family run hotel where I was greeted every time I went in and out and offered freshly made coffee each morning, this one is rather impersonal. Coffee in the morning is from a machine. We were on the ground floor overlooking the bus station and we were woken most mornings by people coming off the tour buses and it could be noisy. Minibar only contained three bottles of very expensive water.

Large room overlooking bus central station. Newly refurbished with lots of electrical points for IT including USB sources for power and charging equipment. Bidet in the bathroom. Huge safe to keep a laptop. Wifi available but I did not access it to check out the speed of the service. Close to the old city centre and tourist locations on top of a hill access by free escalators provided by the city council. The areas are well-lit and safe.

Hotel is located away from the main railway station and you need to get a taxi to find it. Not apparent on the map in the website as it indicated a railway station but it is not the central one. Funds for the stay was collected more than three weeks before arrival, which is unusual as a 23-48 hour window is preferred by other hotels. This means there is some inflexibility and one cannot cancel without penalty closer to that time.

Location was perfect - easy access to old town through a series of escalators which pop you up right in front of Hotel Brufani. Every part of Perugia is on a hill so that saves you a lot of climbing. Hotel staff were super friendly and prioritized getting my room ready early even though they were swamped with a major conference. Breakfast had everything I needed and was offered during good hours. Loved that the hotel had lots of conveniences like USB and even USB-C ports for charging. Rooms were large with great workspace area. I'll definitely be back.

The wifi was a bit slow at times. Because I stay in this hotel for work, it would be good to have some improvement to rooms on the 3rd floor.

The location and standard of the hotel were both very good. The hotel was central and had lovely views. A quick ride up the escalator delivered us very close to the centre of town, and the hotel was a short walk from numerous local restaurants. The breakfast buffet was wide-ranging and appetising. Communal areas and the room were all spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and the shower did not leak. There were enough towels and bed linens. The hotel is a five-minute taxi ride from Perugia station.

The staff were really grumpy. We travelled with friends and they made the same observation. No smiling or pleasantries. This could definitely be improved and let down what is otherwise a lovely, clean, efficient, and well-located hotel. The individual travel-sized toiletries are a bit dated in this era of environmental awareness, and probably unnecessary.

Great location with just a short walk to the main piazza. The hotel has many good points. The room is comfortable with a very relaxing bed & pillows. The bathroom new & modern. The hotel staff were exceptional and very helpful especially Umberto, thank you for your assistance, nothing was too much trouble. We also enjoyed the breakfast which was a bigger range of choice than we originally thought. Staff were very attentive and friendly. A perfect hotel to stay in Perugia.

Nothing, our stay was perfect.

Location very central and convenient, a quick walk to the center of town and/or the stairway down to the bus station. a/c much better than usual with a nice balcony with a lovely view. Restaurant served the best meal we ate in Italy - very unusual for a hotel restaurant - with way above average service and good value.

The train station is not convenient to central Perugia at all, but the bus station is directly across from the property, so it would have been very helpful to have a tip to that effect at booking.

excellent location - very helpful front desk - Antonio in particular - very close to Scala Mobile and usually an umbrella in the stand at the front door. Restaurant modern with several stations to allow no need to queue

bar area almost non existent and regular bar staff equally non existent - front desk team usually had to cover. Breakfast selection was pretty much the same every day. Booking.com room info was misleading as booked superior room and had expected a balcony.

Room was large and comfortable, with modern outlets and lighting. The air conditioning worked very well in July when we visited for the annual Umbria Jazz festival. The location was ideal for taking the escalators up into the old city center and also for taking the escalator down to the bus station to catch the bus back to Rome. The breakfast had diverse savory and sweet options.

The pool required swim caps and the hotel charged extra for swim caps, pool sandals, and towels.

Wow, what a beautiful hotel. Great views of the valley. Walking and escalators to the Old Town, very unexpected and awesome at the same time. The rooms are modern, neat and clean. Staff very helpful arranging with taxis. Breakfast was great, everything you would want. But dinner was surprisingly delicious.

A little further from the train station than I had expected. Must take taxis to and from the hotel with is an added expense. But the hotel is worth the extra expense.

OK, for a night stay, but it could be a challenge for longer stops. Being a larger than average man, at 2 m tall, the shower room was a bit of a challenge. Also, the air condition is set by default on 22 Celsius with no option or instruction on how to change the temperature. Other than that, it is spotlessly clean and close to the city centre where you can find most of the good restaurants or entertainment.
