Hotel Gargallo

Location , very large beautiful room with painted ceilings and cute balcony overlooking Ortigia central streets and super friendly & helpful staff which made a difference For a 3 star hotel, Broad range of breakfast options inc lots of fresh fruit

The bathroom is very tiny compared to the size of the room and the shower is very small with an uncomfortable door which you could only unfold from the outside even when you are in the shower The valet parking the hotel recommends via a third party is a good service but they only wanted cash without a receipt or invoice which when asked it was flagged as something I did not request and should be raised with the third party director (?) (whilst it should be the way it works when you pay for transactions everywhere!) The room door is very thin with a gap at the bottom which makes all the noise from people talking or leaving their rooms for breakfast getting into your room and waking you up super early

The hotel is in the older, historic part of Syracuse, Ortigia. The streets were sometimes difficult to negotiate. However, that simply is the nature of cities over 3,000 years old, not the hotel. I would rather stay in a historic area than a generic hotel on the outskirts. The location made driving to the front door difficult. The small, crowded streets made driving in Syracuse a challenge. (Again this is not the fault of the hotel.) There were many wonderful restaurants close by, it was close to the puppet theater, a public swimming location, and everything else unique and wonderful about Syracuse

Can't think of anything. We were pleased with everything. There was no lift which could be a challenge for some.

Everything! Room was clean, shower was hot! Outside space was dreamy. The staff! Omg Andrea went above and beyond. Restaurants, helped with a cab, bus tickets to the next city! And even took into consideration, first floor access so my Mother didn’t want to walk up the stairs! I adored him. Guys, book here. Great location walking from some hot spots, a beautiful cafe is on the corner and we truly enjoyed our stay!

Clean Character hotel. Breakfast average. There are no coffee/tea making facilities as standard in the rooms.

Room 104 (family room, 2 double beds plus sofa bed and kitchenette) was behind the main hotel accessed through a communal courtyard. There was noise from the neighbours but not enough to keep us awake at night or wake us up in the morning. Coffee/tea not available in the rooms but when we requested a kettle for the family room kitchenette this was delivered to us.

Our room was very nice and well furnished however considering we had a superior room the bathroom was not good, shower very small and not clean with mould on walls and no facility to place soap and shampoo.

the hotel is very well situated in the center of the pedestrian area of Ortigia. Very valuable valet service. Neat and clear decoration, perhaps requiring a little maintenance. Caring staff. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel but disappointing.

the room had no hot water: you had to let it run for more than 20 minutes to get low warm water... So cold showers. on the other hand 2 balconies and a view of the very typical little street .... without hot water, the price per night is too expensive!

We came to Hotel Gargallo when the accommodation we booked was too cold and we needed a warm room. We were given the warmest welcome in Ortigia from manager Anna who is so professional and does everything above and beyond to ensure a great stay. The room was generous in size elegant, clean with a comfortable bed and crisp white sheets and a warm luxurious bed cover. There was an excellent breakfast included in the price and Anna even got me lactose free milk. Hotel Gargallo is an excellent option in a fantastic and quiet location. We also ate at the new Hotel restaurant downstairs and the chef made to order a specific meal to cater for my allergies. The food was excellent. We were really impressed by this hotel and the smiling and courteous staff throughout. We will definately return when we can and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to others.

Minor thing. We couldn't find a light switch to go upstairs when reception was closed so it was a little dark.

Position of the hotel is in the centre of ortigia. Breakfast was more than expected. It included boiled eggs, cheese, salami etc Public Laundry few meters away etc Both receptionist are friendly and also speaks English

Split bed, one of us ending in the uncomfortable gap. We booked classic room and was not stating on the Internet that it was equipped for handicap personnel. Then we had to upgrade. But I will return to this hotel

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Gargallo very much. The hotel is located in (what feels like) an historic building. Our room was quite big and comfy, with a small balcony. What made this hotel very nice in addition, is that the old town is basically 1-2 minutes walking. Big shout out to the personell, who were extremely nice. Nice touch is that the breakfast is complemented by fresh made coffee (by personell, not by a machine).

We felt the bathroom was a bit outdated, though working properly and clean. The breakfast a bit... Italian, as in many sweet options, not so much savory options. To be fair, what also made it italian, was that all the products used were of high quality. Last "complaint" is not the Hotel, the hotel is very clear about this but Syrakus has some parking restrictions, we managed to find "free" parking, but had to walk 15-20 Minutes to get there. Alternatively, you can park for 15 EUR a day on 5-10 minutes walking.

Staff very friendly, helpful and professional - reception, dining room and housekeeping. Great choice of food for breakfast. Excellent location. Easy walking distance from every where in Ortigia.
