Hotel Sunflex Kagoshima

The staff was helpful.

The first room we got wasn't very clean, especially the air conditioner. It had 2 cm of dust on the surface. Since my husband has dust allergy, we asked them to clean it. Instead of cleaning it, they changed our room, so in the end, we had a nice, cleaner room with a perfect air conditioner and our window facing at Sakurajima vulcano.

Location is close to the different ferry terminals that have ferries going to Sakurajima and Yakushima. Large bathroom by jap standards. Stocked with amenities like toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Hotel also provided robes. Luggage storage was allowed before check-in time of 3pm. The hotel also stored some luggage for a few days between two stays for us. Appreciate that. The luggage was brought up to the room and placed neatly when we finally checked in during the evening. Some of the staff do not speak much english but they make all efforts to communicate. Appreciate that very much. Google translate is very useful to help communicate here.

The bedside light was quite dusty though the rest of the room was quite clean. The toilet/bath was quite a high step up to get to.

It was ultra quiet. The breakfast was awesome. The staff was top shape. The price is awesome. I like the location too. Away from the main busy road by 1 block so its not noisy. Yet, only 1 block away from the main road.

The place is ultra quiet tenants. But i can hear thru the walls if someone is snoring, or drops their bottle water. Lol. Which made me a bit cautious about making noise if anyone else can hear me. Lol so i was ultra quiet.

Friendly reception and kitchen staff. Free ground coffee and breakfast. Near to Tenmonkan shopping address. Not to far from airport express bus stop. Car park near by.

Cramped rooms. One side of bed abuts the wall. Could store luggage bags under bed. Hotel located just at the end of the main strip. Quieter at night and not so well lit for the 50m stretch to the hotel. Did not worry because this is Japan. Elsewhere I'd have .

The service of the staff, cleanliness, food taste- all great. The location is great. I travelled more than 100 countries in the world and they are the best. I mean it. I disturbed them by asking several questions but they are very very tolerant and kind to me. They searched for me the good restaurants too. For them my visit to Kagoshima was great. Thank you!!!

Excellent location. Small, but well appointed rooms. Blackout blinds and windows that open for fresh air. Delicious breakfast and coffee. The staff make the experience exceptional - they are patient, kind, helpful and genuinely friendly (my experience as a Japanese speaker).

Everything was good - the air conditioners need a thorough clean, though.

The location was pretty close to the station and also to the port where we took a ferry to Yakushima. The room was very clean and perfect for our short stay.

We couldn't book a non-smoking room for a similar price so we ended up with the smoking room. It smelled a bit but wasn't too bad.

We loved this hotel, and especially the staff. Customer service here is amazing. Also, the breakfast is very very good. They have option of Western and Japanese breakfast and both are very satisfying.

Everything was perfect

The room was nicely arranged and the bed was very comfortable. I stayed in a double room so it is probably bigger for a solo traveler. Breakfast looks savory although time did not let me enjoy it. The location near the South Port (for ferries going to Mishima Geopark islands of Takeshima and Iwo-Jima) is a plus because you can just walk over. But if you are going to the North port, it is quite a distance.

The orientation of the hotel's building make it hard to spot right away, especially at night. Unless you are on the opposite side of the street, the name of the hotel is hard to see. It is also a bit far, but walking distance to the shops and restaurants.

Extended our stay by a night, due to some transportation issues. Staff were very helpful, had a very good breakfast the next morning and breakfast staff were also excellent. We are unable to speak much Japanese and appreciated that so many staff spoke some English and were so helpful. Great location, good room and great stay.
