Hyatt Regency Kyoto

Rooms were comfortable and had a nice view of the zen garden (after we requested a change as rooms in the first floor had a terrible view of a the roof, was glad this issue was promptly solved with a room change for both our rooms free of charge). Staff in reception were nice and helpful. The hotel is a bit far from the action in Kyoto but very close to some beautiful and important temples and across the road from the national museum, all unmissable.

Some of the staff didn’t speak english which made communications very complicated, especially with concierge, the restaurants at the hotel (including room service) had an extremely early last order for an international hotel catering to a public that might not be used to such early dining and very very limited menu and food in room service was underwhelming.

Hotel located in a central area only 5 to 10 mins from many of the main attractions. Rooms were comfortable although slightly dated but nothing wrong with that. Breakfast was exceptional and one of the best that we had in Japan. Great options better than some of the newer hotels we stayed in during our travels was definitely a highlight of the stay. Hyatt team were extremely helpful and friendly. All restaurants within the hotel had exceptional food and service. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

The bathroom was amazing in our room. After exploring the shrines and walking around all day I always looked forward to taking a bath in the large tub. At breakfast we were always greeted by friendly staff and the chef himself. Consistently we ate a delicious meal with great service. The staff was so polite and helpful during all steps of our stay. All around I am very happy with our stay. The hotel was close enough to Kyoto station that we could walk and a short train ride to downtown.

We kept the blinds closed since our window was right by a nearby street. But even so this was only a minor inconvenience

Staff and service. Breakfast is great. My partner really likes the Italian restaurant on the premises: Trattoria Sette, and especially their pomodoro pasta. Thank you Tsuji-san and chef Doshita-san for a very enjoyable evening.

We are returning customers and compared to our previous visit we had an under-par experience because: 1) there is no longer a Maiko show, which was among the main reasons for us to select the hotel, 2) the rooms on the third floor using black male kimono are dark compared to the more colourful and lively floors with female kimono, 3) we were unable to use the spa facilities because they were fully booked and later undergoing renovation, 4) they no longer use iPads for in-room services

There is a bus stop (三十三間堂) right in the front of the hotel, very convenient. They also have Taxi which could be booked at front desk. The bus stops for every 10-20 minutes from both directions, one to Kyoto station and the other to Kyomitsudera(清水寺) and Gion(祇園), good location.

Most people went to Cafe 33 for breakfast around 0800am-0900am, which may be too crowded at that time and probably you need to wait for 10-15 minutes. I think the hotel management should do something about occasional over-crowded people at certain times, such as grouping into several breakfast sessions, or other methods to ease the burden of restaurant staff at popular hours.

Great Location for sightseeing, peaceful but within walking distance of Kiyomizu Temple and the pretty and historical Higashiyama area. The staff were friendly and attentive at all times. Great breakfast with lots of choices including full Japanese breakfast.

We ate at two of the hotel's restaurants during our stay. The service was excellent in both cases but the quality of the food was a little disappointing.

Location is good to visit spots. If you don't drive, bus stops just close to hotel where you can go to anywhere you want. A few small restaurants around hotel but not much choices. Going to CBD is straight down from hotel but you still need to take public transports or drive yourself. Room is clean and size is fit. Parking is inside property but daily rate is quite expensive.

Restaurants in hotel do not have many options in menu. They serve simple menu.

The room was wonderful. The breakfast buffet which was included in the rate was exceptional. The location next to temples and shrines sightseeing very easy. Last but not least, the staff was amazing.

I had no complaints. Everything was smooth for a stay in Kyoto. The hotel is beautiful.

super clean and comfortable, Touzen (Japanese restaurant) is great, breakfast buffet has lots of options. location is good, Kyoto nation museum and Sanjusangendo are just around the corner. kiyomizu dera is 1km away but I reckon it still walking distance, esp the sceneries along the way is mesmerising so you won’t feel a long distance.
