Kyoto Sanjo Ohashi

Recently, the management changed at this hotel and the new management has been extremely friendly and helpful, going out of their way to help us and make sure we had a pleasant stay. Some of the other reviews on the site are from before the recent change in management. The front desk is staffed every day beginning at eleven, through 8 of the evening, which makes things more convenient in case you need to leave a suitcase while you go out to sightsee. During the hours the desk is not open, there is a WhatsApp number the staff can be reached at, and they were quick to respond even before the hours the desk is staffed. I stayed at this hotel with my mom. It is in good condition and clean, and our room was very spacious. This hotel would be especially good for families or possibly friends traveling together because there are two large beds in the rooms, a kitchen area (with a decent sized refrigerator, microwave, range, and hot water pot), a washer, and a table to have meals at. I also think it would be especially suited for longer stays and people with special dietary needs (vegetarians or families with small children), since making a light breakfast or simple pasta meal here would be very easy. Honestly, this feels like a more like a mini apartment than a hotel room to me. The property is two blocks from a supermarket and within walking distance of Teramachi, with its multitude of restaurants and shops. In addition, it is right in front of a bus that goes to Kyoto Station and a subway line. It is also within walking distance to Gion. I think this is one of the best locations to stay for several days in Kyoto since some other tourist areas here are quite out of the way and don't have as many options for food, shopping, or transportation as this location does. Finally, I felt that the price of the hotel was very reasonable given everything it has to offer. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Kyoto.

The listed check in time is a little late (like at most hotels here), but I think depending on the day of your arrival and whether the room is ready, the staff will work with you or at least keep your bag until your room is ready. I would just reach out to the establishment if the check in time (or anything else) is a concern.

The staff here are incredible. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. I lost my bag on the metro and the staff here went out of their way to make sure I found it and helped me call several stations to help me find it. I am incredibly thankful for their help and very impressed by their level of customer service. The location is great and the prices were very fair, especially for the quality of the room. 10/10 would recommend this hotel and stay here again.

* We were allocated a room on the ground floor, which was relatively dark. * Lack of personal contact (though the staff was friendly through WhatsApp). * Check-in only available from 4 PM (earlier check-in at an additional cost, poor customer service in this regard). Additionally, no luggage storage facility.

We stayed at this hotel apartment for 12 days and were thoroughly satisfied with our experience. The room, which accommodated three of us sharing two double beds, was spacious and well-equipped. The inclusion of a washing machine, kitchen, and a bathroom with a tub added great convenience to our stay. Having the opportunity to unwind with a bath after long walks exploring Kyoto in December weather was especially delightful. The overall comfort and amenities provided during our stay made it a pleasant and memorable experience."

While our stay was enjoyable, a suggestion for improvement would be to provide additional storage options for personal belongings and hooks to hang used towels. This would enhance the convenience and organization of the room, ensuring a more comfortable experience for guests.

The location was superb. Very central, easy access to train station and food street across the river. The room was very spacious and suitable for even a family of 4. Bathroom and toilet were very clean.

The checkin time could be earlier. 4pm is a bit too late and this makes it hard for visitors to plan around for the day, especially when the hotel doesn't have receptionist to store guest luggage. Indeed, we had to find a nearby coffee shop to sit in and waiting until the checkin time. I understand that we can pay extra to have early check-in 1h, 2h or 3h ahead, but this is too petty. I'm happy to pay if I can have early checkin at 10am or at least 12pm, but not early checkin for only 1 or 2 hours ahead.

Fabulous location, close to transit and many important sites were walkable. Room was decent size (we were in a superior room). Cooking facilities were minimal at best. Nothing is provided (as noted by the hotel). You can rent some things for Y500, but since we ate out a lot and everything from the grocery store is prepared, you may not need anything. Internet was dreadfully slow, I ended up using my cell coverage at times. Hotel check-in is 100% remote, there is no staff to greet you. Staff is around at times during the day to clean.

Internet could have been faster.

The location was perfect for KYOTO, and the place was cozy and best for family who wants to sleep after a long day city tour. The receptionist and staff are all very accomodating. We requested for extra pillows which they have easily given us without any additional fees. I would like to come back and stay in the same place.

the wifi was not as strong for us to watch netflix movie. But it is very forgiveable since we love how the place was kept clean and quiet for our nice rest after city tour.

Adequate space with balcony; simple cooking and cloths washing possible; bathroom can dry clothes in a few hours; no staff at reception counter but they responsed quickly via whatsapps and no problem communication in English with them; location very close to subway and keihan Sanjo station.

Have to pay city tax and cooking utensils fee on top of the room rent, though the amount is minimal. A little bit disappointed that there was no free room service and luggage storage even though we stayed for more than three weeks.

- Exceptional location, we were able to reach all the attractions easily via bus or subway. - The neighbourhood is quiet. I am a light sleeper but I had no trouble whatsoever during the nights so I rested well. - The beds are big and comfortable.

- The room wasn’t really clean. We found a dry contact lens on the floor and hair on the shower floor. - The staff cannot be found at the hotel. You check in through an intercom at the reception. I think it could be troublesome if you need immediate assistance but everything went well for us.
