Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Airport

The hotel is good and it is not too far from Schiphol airport. They offer a free shuttle service to/from Schiphol which is great considering that there is no other public transport available to get there.

The shuttle service can be a bit chaotic since it does not work with a reservation system. Although the hotel staff makes sure that everyone makes it to their destination, it is not nice to "fight" for a spot in the shuttle.

Good hotel to spend one night between flights. One of the advantages is the reasonable price. Bus delivery from/to the airport is organized by the hotel. The room is big, comfortable, and quiet (even with the window on the big highway). Room equipped with fridge and kettle. In the hotel, you can use a restaurant to take lunch or dinner. As a chip option, McDonald’s is 3 min from the hotel.

It was a strange smell in the bathroom, which required venting the room.

Be aware that there are two Bastion Hotels near Schiphol Airport - this is the closest one (a red brick building next to the Best Western) - I think this leads to some confusing reviews where they get mixed up. I found the courtesy bus very easy to use in both directions - every 1/2hr - only takes around 5mins. All staff members were very helpful & friendly, hotel had a nice bar and restaurant area with excellent service. Room was well maintained, and the bathroom looked like it had recently been refurbished with modern tiles and a great shower.

Check-in was a bit laborious since I got a mail from Booking.com (prior to my arrival) saying my credit card was declined due to lack of funds, which was not the case. I used the same card on my arrival, and all went fine. Not the fault of the hotel itself. The aircon in the room didn't seem to work even though it made a noise, but the room was nice and warm without it so all good.

My husband and I booked this for a short overnight stay between connecting flights and it fit the bill perfectly. I chose it for the reasonable price and free airport shuttle. The shuttle ran on schedule and took about 10 minutes each way, it was easy to find and super convenient. There was no receptionist at the reception desk when we arrived or when we left, which was not ideal. However we arrived quite late (around 11pm) and someone came in about 5 minutes, which is ok. We left around 6:30am and left our room card in the box at the reception, so it was also ok. We didn't book breakfast as it was so expensive and we were leaving so early so can't comment on that. The room was nice, the twin beds can easily be pushed together for couples. Bathroom was well laid out and toiletries were adequate. I probably would not book this for a long stay, but if your main priority is having a place to sleep and shower and getting to and from the airport conveniently and quickly, then I absolutely recommend it. (Tip: check the hotel website directly to compare rates before booking).

I would have appreciated a dispenser for the shower gel instead of the mini bottles, as that would be more eco-friendly.

The new Auping mattrasses are wonderful! I slept quite well. The free drink was nice. You have to give up your email address in order to get that. The shuttle bus to and from the airporr is very reliable.

There aren't very many channels on the TV that are broadcast in English. The room was toasty warm, and that was great, but the fan/ventilation makes a loud noise every time it goes on/off. There were, as usual, no washrags. It seems like a hotel beside an internatiinal airport should stock washrags routinely in the bathrooms.

Happy that they had a shuttle service from and to the airport. The room was clean and spacy. A good bathroom. Apart from the TV everything functioned. A little coffee machine in the room and a fridge were deeply appreciated. I needed inexpectedly a place to sleep because the trains were not running and I could not proceed to my planned destination. For this purpose this hotel is ansolutely excellent. Another plus: the windows can be opened for fresh air!!

The location is great for someone who will spend the night to catch a flight at schiphol the next morning. In my case, my friend and I attended a festival nearby, in which the shuttle buses were located at the Hoofdorp station (about 25 min walking). We were very lucky that to go to the festival, the shuttle of the hotel took us to the festival site. It was a really nice service and made our day easier! Everything else was fine.

During the evening I heard many times doors being slammed in the corridor. It is probably the fault of guests, but it disrupted my sleep a couple of times. Besides that, it was completely silent, which is a plus!

Excellent location, Excellent Shuttle service. Breakfast was typical Dutch and met my expectations. (Better description of the various Juice and Milk beverages would be helpful.) Arrival desk clerk was very matter of fact, efficient but without that "welcome hospitality smile". Departure was handled by your manager with a great attitude and a wonderful "Good Morning - have a great day" smile. Overall a great hotel.

Housekeeping must not have dusted the night lamps (bedside) in ages. I suggest every day during the team meetings that you assign one extra task (such as wiping the night stand lamps, clean the refrigerators, clean the back and sides of the TV, clean the drawers etc.) With a complete task map for each day, most (occupied and vacated) rooms should be spotless and deep-cleaned every few weeks without any major extra efforts.
