There was so much to love. Behind a somewhat humble external facade on an ordinary street, the absolutely charming owner - Zilda - has created a stunning refit of an old building. There are bold modern touches but it all fitted in with original theme of the building. The rooms are modern and very comfortable. Our group (2 couples) were greeted with an invitation for sparkling wine on the roof terrace - which is also where a beautiful breakfast was prepared by Zilda the next morning. We would highly recommend - and would not hesitate to stay here again if we were in Lamego.

I can’t say enough good things about this bed breakfast/hotel, the owner Zilda(Professora) and her assistants Carla and Ricardo have done an amazing job from top to bottom. No details has been overlooked. It is a place we felt welcomed (my sister and I) from their heart with a smile in their faces. Muralha Charm House is a really old building renovated from top to bottom 2 years ago located by the walls of the castle. We stayed in room 202, it spotless clean and comfortable with street view. Professora made our time in Lamego extra special with her passion for the region indicating the best places to eat and see(she made all the reservations) As I said, I cannot say enough and could go on and on, the bottom line - I recommend Muralha Charm house without hesitation to anyone looking for a true Portuguese hospitality!!!!!!

Lovely building, very tastefully furnished and rooms/beds were comfortable and stylish. Managed to safely store bicycles in the front lobby. Breakfast was superb with views over the old town, fresh and local produce tasted fantastic and fueled us up for the day. Host was friendly & looked after us really well. Good value for the quality, 'boutique' styling and ambiance/food at breakfast. This is really a great hotel for couples travelling/sightseeing (my wife would love it !); the fact I stayed here one night on a cycling road trip was a bonus.

Minor point was some confusion over booking (already paid for two seperate rooms & host tried to put us in one twin room) but quickly resolved - just meant my room didn't have soap/shower gel (host had left/I was stripped off & in shower before I realised & to be fair I didn't phone her to sort it out as I was just tired and needed a shower after day on the road). NOT a negative but it's not really a hotel for cycle-touring due to steep steps, narrow entrance & limited storage facilities for bikes (but I loved it...)

Everything was perfect since the moment I was received at the door were I was shown the full house and also was invited to a very nice surprise of a poetry recital at the theatre. That by itself was wonderful. Skip to next morning where the two hostesses were serving us breakfast and everything was amazing and they were super super nice and talkative. I even lost track of time while talking with them and after that they even packed me some Bôla de Lamego to go for the trip. Couldn't have asked for anything better! Please keep it up and I hope to come back

Very gracious host. Newly remodeled hotel with existing Roman walls included in the visible architectual design. The details are evident...the host even served her own homemade jam as part of the generous and delicious breakfast. Breakfast is in a glassed in rooftop area overlooking ancient walls and a cathedral. The hotel entrance is almost easy to miss but the hotel is well located, quiet, and constructed with neat architectural thoughtfulness. There are stairs to access the second and third floors but the staircase is open and lovely...and help was offered for bags. My colleague even had an issue with her luggage (from the airline) and the proprietor walked her over to a shop on a small side street to get it fixed. Overall, the hotel exceeded my expectations for the price.

We were welcomed by the delightful owner of this bed and breakfast: Zilda, a most charming lady, who made us really feel at home. She even drove with us to a free parking place nearby so we could park our car for free. She made a lovely breakfast every morning, on the top floor dining room with large windows with splendid view of Lamego, while chatting away, giving us great advise about things to see, restaurants to go to etc. After staying here for three nights it felt like being at home. We could use the kitchen at all times, and put our bottle of wine in the refridgerator, peel our own fruit. In front of our room was a cosy living room with a couch, chairs and a small fridge with drinks. I would definitely come here again when in Lamego. Thank you Zilda for being such a wonderful host !

Nothing really. The only possible problem could be that there are a lot of stairs to climb, but this wasn't a problem for us. It could be a problem for disabled people.

The location in Lamego is great; a walking distance from the center. The “manor” (not a hotel) is perfectly esthetic. It is a joy to watch and admire the work they have done designing this masterpiece. But the real gem was the over-the-top hospitality. The guy who greeted and treated us (I think his name is Ricardo) is the embodiment of hospitality. He did his best to personalize our breakfast, even though we had not asked for anything special. He shared with us his knowledge about the area and advised us where to dine and where to go. He made the difference.

Hidden gem! Excellent location, greeted by a lovely and warm host who worked hard to make our stay so enjoyable. None of our questions or requests seemed like too much and we were treated like personal guests. Our top floor location was spectacular and we had a panoramic view of entire city. We were treated to an extensive homemade breakfast. You would be lucky to reserve a room in this charming hotel.

Very good location next to the castle, everything in walking distance. Parking on the street (daytime payable) or at a free parking 4min away. Great historic building, renovated ca 3 years ago. Bright room with balcony, nice view towards a small street. Lovely breakfast room on the top floor with a small, cute terrace. Great breakfast freshly prepared by the charming host.

It is a small recently renovated hotel which has been beautifully designed to the highest standards. Breakfast is served by the delightful host Zilda but otherwise you are able to use the kitchen facilities in the stunning sun room at the top of the building. There are many stairs but easy to climb. The host does not live in the property but is always available should you need her. There are only five rooms so it will never seem busy. We were the only guests there for our too brief stay of only one night and hope we can return for longer another year.
