Quinta de Santo António - Country House & Villas

The property is great, and well located. It has a beautiful view on the Douro valley, and it is well positioned if you want to go to some of the river’s beaches around. The room was very nice, and the bed super comfortable. Overall, super clean and pleasant. The staff is great, polite, and helpful. We would definitely like to go back.

The breakfast is a bit poor. Considering the variety of food that you can find in Northern Portugal, we were expecting a bit more choice. Most of it was store bought, and with little personality. The pool is great, but it can get crowded. Most people leave the towels on the sun-chairs and then never show up. Sometimes we had to ask for the reception to remove them.

We stayed for four nights in one of the standard villas which was perfect for all our needs. I requested a cot which was kindly provided and in our room upon arrival. The manager who checked us in was so helpful through our stay. The villa was spotlessly clean and housekeeping would come everyday. We found all the food at the hotel to be excellent, whether that be breakfast included in the room rate, lunch by the pool or the evening menu in the restaurant.

The property was really well made – the architecture and arrangement of the place are beautiful. The staff was wonderful, everyone was really friendly, helpful and kind. We stayed in the larger villas which had beautiful views. The beds and all furniture actually were super comfortable, everything was clean and really well organised. The place was quiet despite it being quite close to a road.

There's only one restaurant at the property which had really limited options in terms of style, dietary requirements or taste. There were no light dishes, fresh salads or dairy-free options. The staff and chef were really helpful regardless. The area is really isolated. We should have checked before we went, but there were really few places to go for a walk in the area. We felt a bit stuck.

They just couldn't do enough for us, superb service and lovely staff. Often asking us if everything was OK. Room was excellent, comfortable, new and clean. Restaurant inside and inside, serving truly tasty food. The chef would come out and advise on which local wine to go with our food. Garden and pool area was very nice with a great view to hills and the river. Parking just outside the door. We really REALLY liked this place, would come again if in the area as it's very conviently located for Porto as well, not far from the train station which takes you straight into the beautiful Sao Bento Rail Station. Can only give this place my best recommendations.

Lovely and well-maintained hotel grounds. Everything is very clean & modern. Beautiful pool with view on vineyard & river. I especially enjoyed the bar which served a great selection of drinks and tasty snacks.

- Breakfast is quite small and has not many options. - Restaurant menu is a bit small and there aren’t many restaurants in the area. - Pool was very cold

Very nice hotel complex with lots of green and directly located at the river with nice view from the rooms. Very well-tended place with excellently designed rooms. We were welcomed very warmly by the staff and had a short but very pleasant stay enjoying both dinner and breakfast.

Little space in the room to handle two suitcases and to store clothes in wardrobes. Shower and toilet only separated with frosted glass doors from the room, so only limited privacy compared to a completly separated bathroom.

Location is great and the facilities are modern and spacious.

The service didn't match the level of quality of the building and its surrounding. No effort to make the stay more pleasant from the majority of the staff. There were several examples where we found the service was below the level it should be for this type of property

The breakfast was lovely and plentiful so that we couldn’t do it justice. Also, would recommend their evening meal. They also have an executive lunchtime menu for 15 euros.

It was a little difficult to find as our Sat Nav took us to another location. The staff said that this has been an issue and the listing should be in Torrao.

Rooms were great. Pool area too. Location fantastic. Food in restaurant also very good.

Level of service in restaurant could improve. Some waiters were quite ok, a couple totally untrained and unprofessional.

wonderfull place, well maintained, excellent staff and a great breakfast. The pool is excellent, clean and well maintained. The only issue are the extremely small rooms, although they do have a balcony and a great view. Some nice restaurants nearby. Note that the hotel is about 90 minutes drive from Pinhao and the Duoro quintas.
