Maria is an incredible hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. She makes sure you are very well taken care of. We were very comfortable. The house is super clean and modern. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean, and AC was excellent. There is good wifi access throughout the house. Maria makes a wonderful, fresh breakfast every morning. Her local recommendations were wonderful and made our experience in the area perfect. The location is also great, especially if you don’t mind a scenic drive or scenic train ride into the heart of the Douro. There is convenient parking as well. We would eagerly stay here again!

This is an absolute gem! Maria made us feel like coming Home from the first moment of contact throughout the entire stay. The house has such a charming and revitalizing calm energy about it which made us relax at once. The breakfast was excellent with fresh orange juice, fresh fruits, freshly baked cake - still warm!! - , fresh bread, a number of homemade jams, honey, homemade granola, yoghurt, fresh eggs, cheese and ham. We also loved the herbal tea made from herbs from their own garden. The rooms were sparkling clean, and had the most amazing views onto the beautiful and lush green nature around. We also cherished the selection of inspiring books that were available. We will love to come back. Thank you Maria and team for making our stay unforgettable!

Everything! A fully renovated farmhouse that is modern and comfortable in every sense. Meticulously clean too! Each accommodation in the house is private and different from each other. All have access to a large and beautifully designed living space including dining and a kitchen. There are different outdoor areas to relax and explore the farm. Maria is the most warm and engaging host you could ever imagine and is always at hand to offer ideas for day trips, wineries, walking trails, restaurants etc. Breakfast each day was amazing and plentiful using local ingredients. Keep in mind that the “Douro Valley” is a very large area and no one place will be central so no matter where you stay you will always need to drive. A Padaria Farmhouse was perfect for our needs as beautiful quiet accommodation and yet still close enough to everything we wanted to do during the day. We highly recommend Maria and The Padaria Farmhouse!

This is a really unique property, one of those little gems which you almost never come across these days. The property itself is set on a beautiful farm with large trees. The house is large and clean and there is a real homely feel while also being very stylish. The teak furniture and the whole design of the house is stunning, the light in the evening makes it quite magical. The best part about our stay however was the host. Maria's Mother is a wonderful kind lady who is an amazing cook and baker. She made us two home cooked meals which were very tasty with her husbands green wine. It was such a relaxing experience in the candlelight. She thoughfully lays out the tables with the families together, and the couples outside on smaller tables. The breakfast was the best we had during our two week stay, she makes delicious home cooked bread and cakes. She is very good at understanding the needs of her guests to make sure they have a lovely time. Thank you so much!

This is one of the best experiences we have ever had with accommodation. A Padaria Farmhouse is just beautiful in the most idyllic countryside. We can’t over emphasis how amazing our host Maria was. Our daughter wasn’t feeling well so she let us check in several hours early and offered to keep an eye on her while my husband and I went for a hike. Maria had wonderful local recommendations for things to do and was just so sweet and kind. Our rooms were fabulous and we just loved the breakfast. Lots of local produce, super fresh and beautifully presented. We loved Portugal but would absolutely return just to visit with Maria at A Padaria Farmhouse again!

A Padaria was one of the highlights of a Portugal honeymoon thus far. The beauty of nature will leave you breathless and Maria’s energy will leave you calm for days. The room and farmhouse as a whole is clean, stylish, and filled with a positive energy. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. The farmhouse has many charming corners to sit and enjoy both inside and outside, balcony is magic. Maria is lovely and interesting, and had us whispering for days trying to match her peaceful nature. We absolutely loved our stay!

The location was stunning and peaceful. The rooms were clean crisp and comfortable. The beds were amazing, the most comfortable of our entire trip. I felt like I was at a spa. We had the upstairs rooms with the balcony and the view was beautiful. Marie helped us feel welcome and the entire house was warm and welcoming. We walked around the property, met the family sheep and adorable lambs. The dinner presentation and ambiance was so so pretty the night we arrived. The food was delicious and hearty. It felt like we were at a special family dinner. The night sky was clear and I left my door open to enjoy the peacefulness of the night, it was so quiet and still. Breakfast the next morning was presented so beautifully and again everything was delicious, not a detail was left out. We felt so cared for and the farmhouse was a wonderful respite in the middle of a busy trip. All the homemeade spreads, jams, honey and lemon curd were delicious. Maria was generous with her time sharing with us her favorite beaches to visit when arrived in Lisbon. I wish we had been able to spend more time at the farmhouse and look forward to returning. The extra special gift was the honey Maria shared with my husband since he was unable to be on the trip. All the special touches were there at the farmhouse. Thank you for an amazing experience!!!!

Everything was amazing

Unbelievably wonderful stay — in all regards. The location of A Padaria is in a beautiful, special slice of the Douro valley area. The farm itself is so tranquil I felt my body immediately relax when we arrived. Maria and her parents are incredible hosts — they have such calm and welcoming energy and went above and beyond. They spoiled us with a delicious breakfast spread and Maria gave us so many great recommendations throughout our stay. Also incredible value for us! Would highly recommend and would definitely go back. The highlight of my time in Portugal.

A real gem, in the middle of nowhere... If the beautiful Douro Valley could be called nowhere. Hostess Maria and her mother are truly wonderful and know how to pamper their guests. The minute you open your eyes after a wonderful quiet sleep (apart from some dogs barking a little too much), the smell of freshly made coffee tickles your nostrils... Prepare yourself for a truly amazing and generous fresh breakfast, with just products from the farm itself - or neighbouring suppliers. Rooms are new, spacious and comfy. Almost with a Scandinavian touch. The farmhouse offers a pleasant livingroom area as well as a wonderful garden & terrace.

We had hoped the garden offered a clearer view of the river valley... Removing some trees, could do the trick for Maria and her guests. You really need a car because everything is in driving distance only

I'd consider myself a fairly experienced traveller, having traveled extensivelly in Europe, Asia, the Americas, Australia, South Africa. I've been staying in some amazing guest houses, AirBnBs, ho(s)tels all over the world. However, after these past few days, I would go as far as to say, NEVER have I experienced such hospitality then at A Padaria Farmhouse. WHAT A GEM! Everything was perfect. The location, the grounds, the common areas, the room, the breakfast, the overall atmosphere... But mostly, it's the genuine hospitality that we experienced these past few days that made our stay so very special. Thank you Maria for having us. Thanks for all your tipps, making our time in this beautiful part of the world so memorable. See you next time.
