Great place to stay in the middle of the little town of Monchique. Perfect for hiking out. The room is a bit small, but very nice. We really appreciated the big and fully equipped kitchen with fridge etc and the little living room downstairs. Really sweet place.

It can get a bit hot and sticky in the room and there is no air conditioning. The building resonates quite some noise from the inside (doors opening and closing, showers in the neighboring room, TV from the neighboring room). We had some really nice and quiet room neighbors though and it wasn't a problem for us.

Location is wonderful

There isn’t anywhere to put anything in the bedroom except on the floor. There’s a small wooden chair. It would be good to have a headboard on the double bed for somewhere to lean against. A shelf in the bathroom would also be a useful addition. We only received the email regarding check-in procedure a couple of hours before we arrived in Monchique. We were travelling at the time. The day before would have been better and then the PIN on the day.

The house itself is really nice and pleasant with good facilities. It is located not too far up some stairs just off a square and there are pleasant walks all around. The check in process was easy and the whole experience was hassle free.

The beds could have been more comfortable, as could the pillows. The sound travels quite a bit so you can hear people coming up the stairs. The room we were in (the two twin beds) was extremely small. Overall this was a fantastic place at a fantastic price but wouldn't be comfortable for more than a night or two.

Pretty cosy room with a nice big terrace. The kitchen was perfect if you want to cook. Very good location close to the center and you can find a lot of restaurant near. Easy and quick to get in the house.

Unfortunately you don't get to choose who you live with...poor noise insulation, the rooms are too close to eachother.

I stayed for 2 nights to cycle in the surrounding mountains. For me the stay was perfect. The room is not large, but it was quite big enough for me on my own and I also only had very light luggage with me so the lack of wardrobes etc was not a problem for me. It was winter so the roosters did not wake me up as sunrise was not that early. The noise does travel very easily in the property so if you have noisy fellow guests it might be a problem but I was lucky that mine were considerate (if a bit unfriendly). The house was warm enough without me needing to light the log burner and there was also a heater in my room which was excellent. The kitchen is lovely and very well equipped. I found the decor of the house absolutely charming and Monchique is also very pretty. I will definitely be back to stay again. One warning to fellow cyclists, the cobbled street that leads up to the property is quite slippery when you are in cleats and pushing a bike so take care!

Using the shared kitchen and living room would have been more enjoyable if my fellow guests had been a bit more friendly. I think they had got used to having the place to themselves and therefore considered my stay a bit of an intrusion, which was a shame.

We only stayed for one night so we never met our hostess. But communication was easy and we had no problems during our stay. The house is right in the center of Monchique and easy to find. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. All in all, a good place to stay for a night during you hike/trip.

As the kitchen and the living room are shared by all guests it can get a bit messy. But that totally depends on the guests. The house itself is quiet old, so it is not well soundproofed and it can be quite noisy at nights.

Great location, amazing balcony to enjoy. Great interior design and indeed very well refurbished.

The only thing is the smell on the upper rooms on the second Fluor, mold or sth, but keeping the Windows open solved that :) also, the bed would be too small if my partner had also come.

A beautiful traditional house, in a fantastic location. Lovely chilled vibe to the house, comfy and relaxing. 2 minutes walk from centre, and great restaurants. Easy access to walking trails. We had the balcony room, loved the big windows and the balcony with views of Picota. Great value for money.

Nothing, it was perfect for our needs

The property was great the facilities were beautiful very well decorated everything was clean it was a very overall enjoyable Airbnb

The only negative was that’s the structure is not very well isolated from noise so if there are any festivals or anything sometimes it might be difficult to sleep

It was in a great location close to the bus and taxi stand . The cafe opposite the property is convenient and serves good food and coffee. It’s close to a lot of walks. I love it and highly recommend it
