We had a small but very quiet room in the back of the house with a nice view of the terrace. The breakfast was a very nice little buffet and especially the staff was very friendly and accomodating. Also the location was perfect for exploring the city since all the main attractions are located within walking distance. All in all we had a lovely time in Porto!

The bathroom was very clean but also very small, which is okay in general but the door of the shower did not close completely which made it a bit diffucul not to flood the complete bathroom while showering. I think this might have happended before because the tiles were a bit damp and it smelled like tile adhesive.

Amazing breakfast!! Both yoghurt, bread, pancakes, fresh fruit and freshly made orange juice plus warm dishes that changed daily. Friendly and helpful staff who responded very quickly to our questions before arrival. We made a couple of changes (added one person and one night extra) without problem. Clean room with comfortable beds. Location right in the city center with walking distance to everything but without noise from traffic or people. We had a room with a little balcony which was a nice touch and so was the complementary wine and water that waited in our room.

There was not that much storage space in the room but for two people with small sized luggage it was absolutely fine! We heard some noise from other guests when they walked up the stairs, but never from other rooms. These are the only things we can "complain" about. :)

Very interesting and comfortable hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Having multiple stairs to climb due to the elevator not being available in some sections of the hotel was a bit difficult due to back problems. Breakfast buffet was delicious and regularly replenished by attentive staff.

Elevator that serviced 2 floors should have been working without issues. The door apparently did not close properly on one floor and resulted in its getting stuck requiring staff to run upstairs to make it work. This created delays for customers who often had to walk down/up with luggage. This issue is one that should be fixed soon to enhance guest experience in an otherwise great stay.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Even though you are in the city center, our room was very quiet at night when it came to the noises of the street. The staff was super friendly and the breakfast excellent. What we really liked was that the remainders of the breakfast were offered as free afternoon (or even nightly) snacks. Also there was a little welcome-present which was very thoughtful.

Due to thin walls you could clearly hear the "neighbours" but it wasn't that bad. Apart from that we can't complain, it was all perfect.

Everything!!! Firstly the staff: They're the most friendly helpful hotel staff I've met across dozens of countries. Catarina was always friendly, smiling and recommended us an amazing place to try some local port. 2nd, the location is perfect, it's right in the centre of the city on a famous tourist street, round the corner from the Intercontinental, and across the road from the main train station. There is no better place to stay, you are 5 minutes walk or less from everything. 3rd, the building, the hotel is converted from some existing heritage houses (but fully renovated and modern), this means it has some quirky touches and quite a few staircases (all left heritage) with an unconventional layout. It's exceptionally cool and reminds you you're not in a cookie cutter corporate hotel. There's a central quiet courtyard and breakfast room attached. Our room was modern and well equipped with an excellent shower. And finally, breakfast was excellent, they had a selection of portugese pastries, eggs however you want, fruit, toast, cakes and everything you need. The coffee machine is available 24/7 and dispenses delicious hot chocolates.

The only improvement I'd make is to improve ventilation in some of the bathrooms in the evening. They seem to turn off the exhaust fans (probably to keep things quiet) in the evenings but this is not pleasant when you can't ventilate the bathroom when they're off. There's no parking included but there is a parking garage 50m away. If you park there, the parking is 30-40€ per day so it's better to not have a car or park outside the city center if staying here.

The location is great if you want to stay up above the Riberia and not hall luggage up or down the steep streets. It was on one of the most popular streets - great location. The best breakfast on our 12 day trip! Wonderful old building. We didn't mind the stairs but it could be a problem for some.

We could not hear the construction on our side of the building - but the construction made it more difficult to get to the building - otherwise it is close to the metro station and so easy to walk to!

the hotel is very well located, clean and comfortable. the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. there is quite a lot of stairs to get to some of the rooms so if you are travelling with lots of luggage, I would recommend you to ask for the rooms which are served by the lift.

i could hear my neighbour quite well as I was in a room which was built inside a big ballroom (they split the ballroom in two and created two bedrooms).

We really loved our stay at the Hotel and we had the best experience both with the Check in and the Check out. For the Chech-out they kept our bags so we could see the city a bit more. In terms of food: The personnel assisted us with Dietary restrictions for the breakfast and were very accommodating. We were able to choose eggs/orange Juice each morning and there was a wide variety of coffees and foods.

Not really an issue for us, but the access was a bit complicated between the two buildings and on rainy days the stairs seemed a bit more dangerous.

Fantastic guest house right in the centre of Porto. So close to Sao Bento station with plenty of restaurants close by. interesting property, very clean with friendly staff. Breakfast was varied and good quality. Great to have complimentary tea, coffee, water, fruit and pastries available all day too. Book ~ you won’t be disappointed.

It’s an old property set over 2 interconnecting buildings so there are stairs ~ bear in mind if you have big suitcases. I didn’t but it may be a problem if you do.

Have you ever stayed at a place that was quirky but in all the right ways? Maybe quirky is not the right word to explain it, but Casa dos Loios is a really darling place! Nearly everything was absolute perfection in all the ways that matter when you are on vacation. The Staff - everyone that I met from reception to the kitchen, just amazing. I loved the way that they shared the history of the Casa and gave awesome local recommendations. The Breakfast was really great - freshly squeezed juices and wide selection of breakfast offerings helped to start the day off right for the streets of Porto (if I never see another hill it will be too soon!). The Room -and if you saw this listing, you've seen it, and I had to book it - The Family Room - better than the picture, super comfortable beds, fantastic water pressure and SPACE to stretch out! The Courtyard/Interior Patio- just like the picture.. like really! Well, I'm not quite sure if I loved it so much because where we stayed earlier was a boring apartment with hard beds, but we very much appreciated this place. Did I mention it was centrally located?! Just what we needed and I wished I could have stayed longer.

Welp, remember those quirks I mentioned... I think it's part of the charm, and it is - but if you prefer cookie cutter boring hotel rooms and are shy of stairs, this place might not be for you. It does have an elevator, but it is small. This is an old, as in centuries-old, building. Not everything is level, and I did get turned around a bit, but that wasn't the fault of the building - might have been the wine.
