Nice Way Porto Hostel

I think this is one of the best hostels in Porto. It has space and comfort, friendly and dynamic staff, it is clean and centrally located. I checked in exhausted from a long journey, I really needed a comfortable bed and a little space to reorganise my things. I stayed in Porto for a few days and found a pleasant, warm and hospitable environment, very welcoming people and city. I liked all the places I stayed in, only one was poor, a hostel in a semi-central area run by an individual, I found it really bad there. The hostel keeper only showed up for check-ins and let guests loose in the building and the garden the rest of the time, which probably gratified some of them. The hostel however was not clean in my opinion, I only saw one cleaner working with great difficulty. Above all, furnishings, installations and objects were in my view gone and outdated. I was given a worn out bed and didn’t sleep a wink. I think anyone with an empty house near the centre of Porto can easily do better than that!

The place is right next to the beautiful Sao Bento train station. Staff in reception were very nice and helpful in all times of the day. Breakfast was nice and simple with good fresh coffee. Room was clean and good in size with good amount of daylight coming from window, plus very efficient air conditioning kept it cool during nights. Shared bathroom was kept clean.

The bar of the place is quite loud at nights and as I was staying right above it, I found it a little annoying - but not too bad! The hall in front of the room was quite loud when people were entering their rooms or bathroom in the night/early morning, but otherwise it was quiet enough. Only thing I was missing in the shared room was a proper chair to sit in. As the room has bunk beds and I was on a top bunk, sitting on my bed was not a useful option when getting ready in the morning, etc.

I was in a private room with shared bathroom. The room was great. Location is perfect! I didnt have time to use kitchen and common area but it looked very nice. It was super clean and i had a nice view from the window.

Shared bathroom was not very comfortable. Shower without a cable so no washing your feet. Just one angle on top. Very difficult to wash long hair. Also no space to put clothes, and no basic soap. No toilet with a sink. For woman with period and long hair really not the best bathroom.

great location great staff. perfect for walking to sites. generally great value.

the street outside was very noisy until about 4 am and with it being warm we needed the windows open. it was also a Saturday night. bring ear plugs. beds were comfy and we slept fine despite noise but if you need quiet it might not be your place. place is generally pretty clean, but with shared bathrooms it’s all dependent on other guests. generally pretty clean.

Lift / Elevator is very old and looks horrible to get in there.

It's a very social hostel you'll get to meet a lot of people in the common area, they also provide dinner at a cheap cost with sangria! Location is great, super close to a lot of sightseeing spots. There's an elevator which is quite rare in Portugal I guess

The air conditioning was down for a few nights, I couldn't sleep at all until we opened the window but the street is quite noisy so if you're a light sleeper it could be a problem. Hand soap was out for a few days until I notified the staff for the second time...

We were in a private room with bathroom. The room and the bathroom were spacious and comfortable. Very well situated and pretty quiet. The elevator takes you directly to your room if you want to skip the large communal area. The welcome drink and the luggage room were very appreciated. The staff is helpful and kind. Didn’t take advantage of the faculties much, but could have had we stayed longer : breakfast and dinner are cheap, bar with happy hours and tours and bar crawls organized by the hostel. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable.

It’s on the pricier side for our budget, but the location and facilities are up to par.

I liked that there was a place to hang a towel on the side of each bed and a locker under the bed. The room was a good size and there was a desk and a place to hang some clothing. Also curtains on the side of bed for privacy. The shower had good pressure and there were hooks inside the shower stall to hang clothing and your towel . The breakfast was good and well worth the 3.50 euros. The hostel has happy hour and some different activities for those wanting more of a social experience. I found Gabbi & Lorenzo to be the most friendly and accommodating of all the staff.

I was on the 3rd floor so I had a mixed gender bathroom & showers. Girls' bathroom was up on the 4th floor. I would have liked same gender bathrooms on each floor. There was no soap in the dispensers in the 3rd floor bathroom for the 3 days I was there. However, once I mentioned it to the cleaning ladies ( on the last day) they filled them right up. It was nice to have curtains on the bed but they weren't quite wide enough to cover the whole side.

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the city center and a 3 minutes walk from the train station. The private room is spacious and comfortable. There are a few bathrooms/showers on every floor and everything is always clean. The staff (Jesus, Gabriela, Rossana, Raquel and everyone else) is super nice and accommodating, and very helpful with tips to explore the city. There's a great atmosphere in the common area, which is also the reception, bar and kitchen so it's very easy to meet other travelers. Will definitely return in the future.

the location of the hostel is perfect! everything is within walking distance the common area with their own bar was really nice, they have everyday an happy hour and they offer planty of things like a free walking tour or a pub crawl,... Especially for solo travellers I can really recommend this hostel because it's really easy to get to know people! the bedrooms are ok - not the comfiest beds and they rooms are quite small but every bed has a plug, light and a small shelf, what I really liked. I was only in the room for sleeping so it was more than enough.
