Location!

could have used more water and toiletries- for the price and level of hotel expected free water and not to have to ask for more toiletries.

The only shortcoming is that you cannot drive to the hotel. Better information instructions would have been very helpful.

great central location and a beautiful property

several staff interactions where it was clear that they weren’t really interested in helping. there were several great interactions and great service but a few bad apples as with most hotels. overall ok service

So welcoming & friendly from the minute we arrived. The most stunning room I’ve ever been in - views over the river and the bridge, even from the toilet! It was always a delight to come back to. The location of the hotel could not be better. Comfortable bed and easy chairs. Big windows which really shut out the outside bustle when you wanted to. Breakfast was superb - anything you could possibly want and all of excellent quality. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and were always bright and friendly. Lovely people. This goes for reception staff too. A stunning hotel.

It is really expensive. I was there for a special occasion - my husband’s 80th birthday so do not regret the cost but it’ll take me to his 90th to save up for another visit!

When we arrived at Pestana Vintage Hotel Porto, we were offered a glass of Port which Porto is known for. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Adriana even accompanied us to our room, and showed us the way around the hotel to get to the RIBS restaurant. Thank you Adriana! We were pleasantly surprised when we got to our room and found a lovely welcoming note from Daniel Peneina, the Duty Manager, and a box of their famous Pasteis de Nata. We enjoyed that. Thank you Daniel! The room was a pleasant size, and the beds were large, comfortable and the sheets very soothing. They had complete amenities ... toiletries, coffee, tea, with coffee machine and water kettle, and gave free bottled water every day. Even the lady who turned down the beds and left chocolates for us, was very pleasant and respectful. We had dinner at the RIBS restaurant the first evening and truly enjoyed the Entrecote and the very flavorful rice which was like a risotto. The hotel is on the Ribeira side and located right across the River Douro. It is a perfect place to be if you want to be in the center of activities and do not mind the hustle and bustle outside the hotel.

Fantastic location and room was comfortable, with a room upgrade allowing views over the river, which was most welcome.

After experiencing high standards of hospitality and service in other Pestana hotels, our experience in all area’s fell a little short. One of the bar staff was rude and unhelpful when we enquired where the toilets were located. Table service was available, however if you didn’t want to wait until you were parched, it was easier to fetch drinks yourself and carry them back to your table. The breakfast staff seemed disorganised and took ages to attract attention to take an order.

Everything! The staff everywhere were friendly and put every effort into making us feel comfortable. If we called the front desk, they immediately assisted us or arranged to have another staff member to help. The breakfast buffet was excellent and had a huge variety of options-all fresh and delicious. The staff was always ready with hot milk and coffee and a friendly smile. Our room was always spotless, well-appointed, and comfortable. The location was perfect! The Douro is right at your front door. We enjoyed being in the Rebeira area and did not find it noisy. We were there in March.

We liked everything.

Booked for a room with a view and stayed at the 5th floor. Fantástic view of the Ribeira, especially at the sunset. Nice and friendly people attending in the reception, restaurant and bar. Fantastic breakfast, including sparkling and Porto wines. Cheeses and sausages served in the hotel winery, which makes a true difference. It was my wife birthday and they sent her a bottle of sparkling wine with a small cake to celebrate. Little things that really makes a big difference.

Nothing, except the time of leaving...

Loved this beautiful charming old hotel right by the Douro river. Our room is spacious, modern and beautifully decorated. There is a kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and free mineral water. The bathroom is good size with plenty of countertop space for all your lotions and potions. The best thing about this hotel are the staffs who are super friendly and supper efficient, they made us feel so welcomed. Special mention goes to Mariana at the breakfast room who went out of her way to make us feel so valued. We cannot wait to return to Porto and stayed in Pestana Vintage Hotel again.

Could be better if there are more hooks in the bathroom and room to hang bathrobes and towels.

The location is excellent. It’s right there at the heart of the Ribiera, yet quiet once you close the windows. The view of the monastery and the Ribiera at night was peaceful and lovely. The facilities are immaculate. Breakfast was excellent. They serve the best Port wine, champagne and fruit juices at breakfast. The cereal bar, fruits and yes, sheep cheese and fresh honey. Not to mention the Portuguese custards. Sandro gave the best massage in the utmost respectful manner. The young man who met us when we checked in (2/4/2023) and Barbara were a delight.
