Flip Flop Hostel - Garden

Location is superb. I am able to get around taipei via public bus too. Hostel is opp Q square mall. Surrounded by 7 eleven etc and many eatery. They have very nice breakfast cafe at the hostel at level 1, pls visit them they have many nice stuffs. Both staff at the hostel and cafe are friendly and helpful too. They have bookstore cafe too. There is a lift in the hostel but there are some rooms which may need to take the stairs instead. Common areas and toilets are quite clean. The shared room which I was assigned to has a tiny window and natural sunlight. My phone was damaged during mountain trip. Staff provided support by helping to find nearest repair shop. A big thank you to whoever you are.

They do not practice daily cleanliness. As of what I heard from the staffs conversation, they did not clean the room for 2 days. 😅 Strongly suggest them to clean it daily or alternate days for shared room like basic sweeping and mopping will be good. I did not know there is a water dispenser located at level 2 till one day I decided to walk down the stairs.

The location is very good as it is walking distance to the Taipei Main Station, eateries (e.g. sushi, fried chicken and many more) and convenience stores (Family Mart/7-11), as well as the Ningxia Night Market. I liked that the breakfast voucher which is redeemable at the cafe adjoining the hostel could be stacked and used as "cash" (voucher has NT$50 value) instead of redeeming 1 of 3 sandwiches (apple-tuna, egg, BLT). The sandwiches (apple-tuna, BLT which I tried) are delicious! There is a nice kitchen/dining area with water dispenser. The room is on the small side but it was cozy and comfortable. I think I prefer the single ensuite room (no balcony) as compared with the double room (with balcony) in terms of size and layout. The ensuite toilet-washroom for the single ensuite room (no balcony) comes with a full size sink unlike the double room (with balcony) which comes with a small sink.

The single ensuite room (no balcony) I checked into was on level 4 and there is no elevator. The tap at the sink is connected to the telephone shower hose. Whilst this in itself is fine but one has to remember to switch the telephone shower back to the tap or risk getting an unwanted shower when one wants to use the tap/sink.

As a first-time visitor to Taiwan, I'm delighted to have easy access to transportation and even closer convenience stores. The residential assistants are incredibly charming and welcoming, which instantly put us at ease. As for the room, it's clean and cozy, just as I had anticipated based on the description. I also appreciated the sheet replacement and bin emptying services, which was an added bonus for cleanliness.

This is more of a precautionary note than a strict warning: It's advisable to avoid using the shower during peak hours, as it may take some time for the warm water to become available.

The facilities are good and cleaned very often. The location is convenient; it is just 3 minutes' walk to the Taipei shopping mall and station. The breakfast options are flexible and delicious. Staff are friendly; you can leave your baggage there before check-in or after checkout time for your flights.

The 3 pm check-in time is a bit late; checking in at 1 or 2 pm would be better. I stayed in a shared dorm, and a lady used a solid perfume that created a strong scent for the rest of my stay. I hope there is a rule not to use smell/cologne in a shared room.

The location is very close to Taipei Main Station, so it's very convenient to get around the city. It's difficult to communicate with the staff in Korean, but there is a manual in Korean, so if you can speak simple English, it's not a big deal. Even after hours at night, they were very helpful and friendly. For breakfast, they give you a voucher to use at the brunch cafe on the ground floor, which is very convenient to fit into your travel schedule as the hours of availability are between 7:30-10:30am. The rooms and bathrooms are fairly clean. The hotel offers one free change of bedding if you stay for more than 3 nights, which made my stay more comfortable. (You have to go to the reception to request when you want it)

No matter how many nights you stay, you only get 1 free towel and if you need a new one, you have to pay 30 TWD for it. (I'm not sure if this is normal for hostels in Taiwan, but personally, I don't like not having the freedom to use a new towel every day.) The hostel has a shared coin-operated washer and dryer, but there's only one, even though there are many rooms.

Staff was nice, kitchen well equipped and location was really good. There wasn't so much noise in the night.

Because of Chinese new year the breakfast shop was closed, so they gave us McDonald's vouchers to get a burger and a tea there. On our last day we had to leave early and as the normal breakfast restaurant should be back to normal business hours, it should opened at 7.30. The staff told us to pre order our breakfast via an online Formular to directly pick it up at 7:40. So we did used the formular and had been there at the given time but the restaurant was just opening and the employees told us that they not gonna start preparing food before 8 o'clock, so we had to leave without breakfast.

Great hostel. Excellent location. Cool design. We really liked our room which, although small, felt airy and comfortable. Staff were super friendly. The free breakfast was a great touch - we're often disheartened when hostels offer free breakfast and it turns out to just be some cornflakes but here we got really lovely and filling sandwiches from the cafe downstairs!

The shower pressure in our ensuite bathroom was too weak to use so we ended up using the communal showers. These were super clean and nice so wasn't a problem for us at all.

Friendly staff and beautifully thought out space. Love the breakfast and the beautiful bookstore inside!

Great facilities, the bathroom has been so thought through!! A bag for your things to put inside and a curtain only for your things so they don’t get wet while showering - how smart! Same with the dorm beds - they are like your tiny rooms, I loved all the drawers and a card operated locker for valuables next to your head so you know nobody has a chance to get in. Really really cool. So many great perks at this hostel. Slippers in each room, clean bathrooms, all very modern. Free earplugs if anyone if your room snores. I was so happy! Staff is great and helpful, oh and the breakfast is super delicious too.

Room was dry and clean. The common area and bookstore were warmly decorated and quiet. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. They offered free luggage store or 100TWD/day after checkout and you need to leave your luggage overnight.

It located right between Taipei Main Station (450 m from Exit Y11) and Zhongshan (300 m from Exit 6). Still, I considered it was pretty exhausting when you need to repeatedly walk in and out quite often. There was no elevator for a single room building. Make sure you can carry your luggage.
