Ocean Palms Beach Resort

The location is amazing, the pictures we saw on booking.com did not do this property justice. We booked another hotel near this property and Wes extremely disappointed as the on line photos were extremely exaggerated, and after seeing the property in person could tell that photo shop was used. Ocean Palms resort was even better in person. Such a vacation tropical vibe. Staff was super friendly and welcoming even gave us a couple free shirts.. so amazing we already have planned our next trip and will be staying here again!! See you soon!

I didn’t like that I had to leave😢

I spent five days here and didn't want to leave. This place has a great vibe, with friendly, courteous, extremely helpful staff. They provide beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, surf boards, and unlimited information about the area and its attractions. Delicious, fresh-ground coffee and endless tea are constantly available in the lobby, with a basic but good daily continental breakfast of fruit, yoghurt (it's vegetarian! yay!), bagels, cream cheese, pastries, and juices. The resort is a perfect location with a very short walk to the beach, though the stairs back up can be brutal in the heat. Sunsets are spectacular. The pool and hot tub are scrupulously clean, and the outdoor shower at the parking lot entrance is convenient for washing off the beach sand. The tropical gardens are beautiful and lush and give a feeling of idyllic Hawaii. There's a courtyard with tables for outdoor dining any time, and I loved the fire pits and tiki torches at night, where people sat around and talked over a glass of wine or coffee. It's all quiet and private and very relaxing. My kitchenette was perfect and I was most happy to discover Wednesday's farmers market, only three blocks away on State Street, as groceries are a fair trek up Carlsbad Village Drive. The Village Faire, two blocks away, has some interesting and kitschy shops and lots of ethnic restaurants. Likely everything you could possibly need is within walking distance, including the transit station (about three blocks away up Grand Avenue, to the right of the resort). I loved Carlsbad--such a holiday town, happily very dog-friendly--and would love to visit again. I definitely recommend Ocean Palms. Huge thanks to Eddie, Kenzi, Nicki, Beau, and everyone else for making this a most wonderful, memorable, luxury vacation.

I didn't like that I had to leave so soon! Wish I could have stayed another week. The only negative thing I can think of is although I didn't have a car, I could see that parking would be an issue anywhere in this area.

Location is excellent, as you are steps from the beach access, though there is no ocean view. Bed was VERY comfy, adequate lighting, nice mini-kitchen, and enjoyed having the bathroom dispensers for the soaps, lotion, etc. Good snacks and coffee are available all day. Plenty of towels and pillows.

The facility was very nice. Great vibe and comfortable feel. Amenities were great. The common areas were clean and well kept. Great landscaping provided great segmentation between the different areas (pool, patio, firepits, etc.).

The room was nice and well maintained. The only issue we had is the window (frosted) on the street side did not have a curtain to block the morning sun from coming in starting at 5:30am. Total bummer. We asked management to do something, but they didn't. We had to put up newspaper to block the light so we could sleep in.

Super convenient location for Shops, Bars and Restaurants. Steps away from the sandy Carlsbad State Beach. Property was super well kept and has a tropical theme with carved tikis and flowering landscape. Pet friendly artificial turf with doggie bags. Several Fire pits and torches are lit from 5-10pm nightly, with plenty of deck lounges to relax in. Upper floors are treated to peek-a-boo ocean views above and between other structures. Loved the split entry door! Rooms are very clean, nicely decorated and well stocked with kitchen utensils. Need to bring your own paper towels.

The beds were a little too firm for our liking. Those train horn blasts... on the hour from 6am to 11pm. A/C unit is located in the living room so we had to crank up the heat to keep the bedroom warm on a chilly winter night.

Great location with steps to the beach on either side of the resort. The resort provided beach amenities for free. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were a decent size. Loved the fire pits and outside seating area at night. Walking distance to Carlsbad Village shops and restaurants.

Only 6 parking spots at the facility so you have to compete with beach parking. No elevators to the 2nd floor so you have to carry everything you bring up a flight of stairs.

I love the landscaping the verandas the quaintness of the place. It’s very comfortable in the feeling of safety also. The torch is burning at night in the fire are a great addition. Their pool area is exotic and tropical.

It would be more convenient to have a outside bathroom at the pool area so you don’t have to run all the way back to your room if you need to use the bathroom.

Staff was nice and friendly and helpful :) We are in our 50's and like to travel so we do look for the most comfortable bed possible. The bed in room 210 was okay, but not like our memory foam bed at home. We also like to have room darkening curtains for sleeping in, but this room did not have those. The room was clean and we did like the kitchen amenity and nice bathroom as well. I would definitely recommend an end unit on the 2nd floor. Thanks for a great stay !

Perfect location, immaculate property, super comfy rooms and EXCELLENT staff..very accommodating, helpful, friendly and kind. We stayed on the 2nd floor deluxe suite which was very comfortable and spacious..full refrigerator, oven, stove. Pool and grounds were so well maintained and immaculate. Maria was our housekeeper and she was a doll as were Beau, Eddie and Laurie at the front desk. Breakfast grab and go were way more than we expected. Coffee,fruit and snacks all day also a giant +. Very, very short walk to a wonderful beach and all the restaurants and shops you will ever need. Parking tight but we were fortunate and had a spot and never had to move the 3 days we were here. The only negative is the price.. We left on the Friday before Labor Day weekend, wanted to extend 1 more night but impossible for the price they were asking. However, WE WILL BE BACK..A WONDERFUL FIND, WONDERFUL PEOPLE, WONDERFUL PLACE. THANKS FOR A GLORIOUS 3 DAYS. They even recognized our 53rd anniversary celebration with a beautiful origami of 2 swans with a heart..created by Maria!

Price....very pricey from our perspective although if one is going to pay such prices it is reassuring to know you have a TERRIFIC place...will still be back but in a more off season time
