Scandia Motel

Clean, clean, clean. Beautiful floors, fresh paint, remodeled bathroom that had the largest most absorbent bath towel that I have ever seen in a budget motel. This is a small older motel that the rooms have been completely updated. The rooms are small, but they have crown molding and are darling. Walk down the block to Carlsbad village, few blocks to the beach, or drive a few blocks the other way to the freeway. The location could not be better. The staff are wonderful, from check in, to housekeeping, to checkout. If you stay anywhere else, you are mission out on a gem of a motel.

There wasn't anything that could have been any better. They have a great ice machine with 2 giant fully stocked vending machines.

Really like the new staff, they have been very attentive to my needs, even had gotten a studio when they filled up, live the upgrade at same cost for the room requested. They do best to accommodate. This hotel has been here as long as I can remember even as a teenager back in the 80's, it's definitely over 45 years old. So people need to keep that in mind. And it's coastal can't beat that. But the coast comes with Salt air, so rust will be present. It's perfect for me and convenient for work, freeway close and my hometown close. They meet demands and requests from everyone best as possible.

This is an older property that has been remodeled inside nicely. It is located just two block north of where all the Bars and Restaurants are located in Carlsbad Village. This area is very up scale beach town. Most hotels in the area are charging well into the $150 to $300 per night. So to only pay $67 total for a nice room in this upper class town is fantastic!

I really can't think of anything wrong with the room. It's not the Hilton but with all the money you save you can go to the pricer Restaurants with the money you save.

Requested Room#124 as my previous stay ~ Wish Granted! Excellent away from traffic/cars in & out from other rooms. QUIET CLEAN PEACEFUL SAFE across from Army Navy Academy. Respectful. Front Office staff efficient and kind; (two cute little boys that remembered me)!. Housekeeping very neat appearance themselves, good job cleaning. Appreciate NONSMOKING and NO PETS. Pure white linens and towels fluffy. Great H20 pressure in sink & shower. Great remodel. Thank You!!

Location is good value for the money

Problems with wifi

Location, location, location. If you don’t want to pay a ton of money, this is one of the best spots you can get close to the center of Carlsbad. My wife and I walked almost everywhere.

Rooms weren’t that bad. They were a little small, but the bed was comfortable and everything was clean.

Easy to get to. The price was great for a weekday.

Only thing would be the price on the weekends, But I get it it’s summer time in Carlsbad. But the good thing is i asked the manager about the price. And he said he would price match.! That’s fantastic! So do your homework on hotel apps. But other than that Nothing was wrong when i stayed. it’s great. Staff is friendly and helpful. Daniel

I have never been so disappointed with a room in my whole life. I had to curb-stomp a spider first thing upon arrival. I refused to even touch the bedding. Despite being a non-smoking room, there was a cigarette burn going through both layers of bedding. Yikes. Felt like I was in a hospital room the whole time.

Only bit of a challenge was that there seemed to be a bit of a smokey smell in our room. We didn't mention it to staff and it did not seem to be a real bother by the morning. Certainly appreciated the frig and microwave. They are a must when we travel. They are just nice to have. TV was fine. Carried a good variety of stations. Sorry I couldn't stay awake to watch a little more. Could park right in front of the room 4 feet away. Close to down town. Could walk to Swami Restaurant, a great place to have breakfast.

Room seemed to have a bit of a smokey smell. Not a big bother by morning. Did not mention it to staff.

Clean, fresh, newly remodeled with ceilings, walls, doors, windows, bath. Good beds, really good Directv, location.

Think about shade trees or umbrellas to provide some shade for the seating in the motels "park". The outside looks pretty old school, roadside, humble. Can lead one to believe it's a cheap motel place, but the rooms are NICE. An amazing value for $89 a night. Some vegetation could improve the outside appearance. And add a coffee service in the office lobby (but it could have been missing due to the Covid/Chinese/Wuhan Flu scare).
