Best Western Marina State Beach

The location was perfect. It’s within walking distance to the beach. It’s not far from Walmart (in case you forgot something). Breakfast was good with the normal pastries, a few hot items, and a waffle iron. They had a peach juice I had to try. It was delicious, and I’m not a big fan of peaches. It had a cute little courtyard. The check in and check out were easy. The room was good for what I needed.

My room was on the first level, but I went through the breezeway and ended up on the 2nd floor on the other side. If you are unable to do stairs, I suggest walking around on the parking lot. This is an older model that has been updated. If you don’t like the older motel layout, you will not like this motel. Parking could be better. They need a better layout at breakfast. A lot came down at the same time. It was almost standing room only, but the walk back wouldn’t be worth it due to your food being cold. This room was fine for what I needed.

For a solo traveller, who needs to spend a night close to the ocean it was a perfect solution providing all what I needed. Considering rather high prices of accommodation in California this hotel was relatively not so expensive, but comfortable and clean. In addition the breakfast included in the price + free coffee and tea has been provided. There is well rated restaurant near by and in a walking distance there are other fast foods plus Walmart.

You don't see the ocean from the hotel, but after crossing a quiet street (it is actually "access to the hotel street", with no other traffic) you can easily get to the ocean.

I had an unfortunate incident with my booking on booking.com. I was supposed to have 2 full beds and when I arrived, I had a king bed. It was a nightmare because the hotel was full. I had to pray for the solution. The customer service rep at the front desk Ms. Elaine Rodriguez worked miracle and another guest was willing to change rooms with us. Her attitude was amazing! She was my angel for the situation. There was another incident that happened with my credit card and Ms. Rodirguez admitted to the mistake and addressed it with her supervisor, who was very supportive. The rooms were amazing!

Although I booked my room through a third-party vendor which I will NEVER do again, no customer wants to keep hearing that you have to contact booking.com to address issues like the one I had experienced. This wasn't with Ms. Rodriguez perse but other staff. It would have been nice to at least be asked if I can call booking.com on your behalf to try and help you? Also, if you have families that are booking several rooms, please try and book there rooms right next to each other. I know my situation was a last-minute problem solver. But in general, it is kind of annoying to be in between families and they are running back and forth making a lot of noise. Especially, when they have children.

The staff was amazing! Super friendly and accommodating, it was a huge bonus! The beach was closer than we thought it would be, the proximity was amazing for the price! The room was large, and comfortable, and definitely somewhere we would visit again for a trip to the beach.

The tub was a little dirty, and the breakfast was disappointing, with only a few things to choose from, and one staple in these breakfasts, yogurt, they only had vanilla, icky! That was really all, just some first world problems that would not deter us from another visit! My experience was really a good one. And I really did enjoy the staff who checked us in!

Breakfast could be better laid out, very busy and congested on a holiday weekend. Could do with a little more sound proofing between rooms and ceiling. Less of a gap around the doors.

The room was super nice and they guy at the front desk was so Sweet and helpful.

So the battery in our room needed to be changed and we called the front desk to ask if anyone could change it and the lady told us we had to do it and to pick up the battery from the front desk! Not to mention in our shower the floor was stained red like someone dyed there hair in it. Other then those 2 things everything was great.

Plain and Simple Truth? The team/staff who work there are amazing. The rooms were very nice and clean. The only downfall was that I know that the beds have lights under them and this time, I couldn't make them work! Other than that... Everything was perfect. Close to the beach, breakfast, nice people, priced fairly, etc. Highly recommend staying with them!

I loved how close to the beach it was. Easy 5 to 10 min stroll. We even were provided hot chocolate after a cold evening walk on the beach. The staff were very happy and helpful. Would definitely visit again.

Maybe a couple more options at breakfast. They were out of a lot of things when we were there.

Sand pit for kids to play in was not clean. it had cigarette butts and broken glass. we just decided to tell the kids it was not a play area at all.

Location was amazing, breakfast was good with a hot jimmy Dean sandwich and rooms were clean and fresh. Hotel is right down street from beach entrance and house keeping was nice and were quick to switch out dirty towels once we asked. Going to make this are go to next time we come back.

Paper thin walls heard everything, bathroom was older (really small toilet) there was not enough sitting area to eat in the room and bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable.
